Poman
It's not fair. And' date=' we know, it really shouldn't matter. But Atlanta -- the city, not the team -- doesn't deserve a playoff victory over the New York Giants on Sunday. It has nothing to do with football. It's deeper than that. Without question, Atlanta is the worst sports town in America Click here to read http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/7429623/the-city-atlanta-worst-sports-town-america...... I'm not really sure why this caught my eye. Where I grew up in Florida, Atlanta was the closest big sports city. I've always felt that the fans there were pretty nonchalant about everything. I've been to many hockey, basketball, and football games there. I honestly can't remember meeting a single Falcons fan that I thought devoted a big part of their life to the team. For the die hard Atlanta fans(i'm sure there are quite a few), what a terrible article to have to read about your home team fans. Does anybody agree that Atlanta is the worst? Any other suggestions? I'd put Charlotte there too, but only on a professional level. For the record though, I want the G-men to lose.
Sweet Sassy Molassy
100% agree. I lived in Atlanta for 12 years and could never bring myself to root for any of their teams because of how ****ty their fans are. The Falcons were an after thought and then as soon as they had one solid season everyone was running around talking how great Chris Chandler and Jamaal Anderson were and doing the dirty bird. It was soooo frustrating watching fans come out of the woodowrks like they really cared. Then they disappeared again until Mike Vick showed up, that might have been worse because people thought they were the best thing since sliced bread. Their basketball fans are even more laughable. I remember going to a playoff game, can't remember what year, the Hawks were playing the Knicks and the team was down by like 10/15 in the third quarter and half the fans left. Just got up and left. I was literally laughing at them and telling my mom how pathetic they were. I'm not a fan of either team, I just went because someone gave us tickets and I found myself eventually rooting for the Knicks to blow them out just to spite them. So yeah, I agree, Atlanta's fans are a big bunch of bandwagoners. Now, I will say, there are some good fans down there, I have some friends who were supporting the teams even when they sucked and I've softened up on the Falcons just because I want those friends to be happy. But other than that, I think the majority of their fans are front-runners.

SJValleySkinz
I agree....But do you think atlanta is the worst sports city? I really dislike that term. So many fans pour their hearts and souls into their teams so why invalidate them by saying they have the "worst sports town"? Anytime you have a bunch of people brought together by their passion for a sport and their team it's a good thing. What are all the loyal fans supposed to do, move to a "better sports town"? Warhead36
The Braves, who have been one of the model franchises in all of sports, can barely sell tickets for playoff games. Yeah, Atlanta is an awful sports city. But with that said, I think the Falcons are gunna kick the Giants ass and make those New Yorkers cry. thebluefood
Yeah, come to think of it, most of those southeastern states stink when it comes to supporting their local sports teams. Virginia is the only state I can think of that is chocked full of fans. There are an awful lot of Redskins fans all over that state and they're among the most devoted. Charlotte, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Raleigh, Miami and (to a small extent now that their Saints are playing well) New Orleans really don't seem to care much for their pro franchises. College sports, on the other hand...

You can add St. Louis and Los Angeles (when they have a team) to that list. If it weren't for billboards and ESPN Radio St. Louis, you'd never know the Rams were here. I've seen more Colts' jerseys than I have Rams.

Truant
Phoenix blows as well. We have every sport but no one really cares until the team is winning. It's too bad because we have awesome facilities here. I don't root for any of the hometown teams because their fans are so disgraceful. About 70% of the population is from somewhere else, so I kinda get it, but it's too bad.

I know none of the other teams do but I always got the impression that Phoenix was somewhat more of a basketball town.
WSHRedskins3ATLBraves3
Miami is just as bad, but as a diehard Braves fan from Richmond, VA, I can say that Atlanta fans are absolutely terrible. fullnelson9999
Baltimore is a crappy sports city. No, not really. The Orioles were top 3 in attendance during the 90s. M&T Bank is regarded as a pretty tough place to play. True crappy sports cities can't fill seats when the teams are winning. Baltimore does not qualify. DeMarco Murray 29
Romo sits to pee 2.0 has been identified in the wild. Incorrect. Everything I hear is Mike Smith is the problem. In Dallas, it's always Romo sits to pee's fault. Plus Romo sits to pee has more wins then Ryan in the playoffs
