ljer
Taunting.....the stupidest rule the NFL has come up with yet. Tell me taunting doesn't go on in almost any play, in any NFL game. Guys are jawing at each other constantly. But if you flip the ball at a guy it's taunting. Schockey dances around like a lunatic and it's not.....amazing. gridironmike
He seemed awful light-footed around Lavar. Curiously quiet too. I agree, Shockey's herky jerky stuff is more taunting than tossing the ball back at someone that just rode you out of bounds for five yards. J33Edwards
run your route, catch the ball, run until you can't run any more, once down get up and hand the ball to the official.....is it that hard to ask? Why can't they learn?
Luca Brasi
I watched the McCants play again, and I can't believe they didn't throw a flag on the Giants' defender. He pushed Darnerian down after the play was well over and out of bounds. Was the flag on McCants deserved? Probably. But the no-call on the Giants' defender was just poor officiating. J33Edwards
and cost their team points...and wins... I have no problem with celebrations in some instances but right now we are getting flagged for them so they need to cut the bull****
buckeyeG
I'm afraid it all starts with the coach...and he backed down on fines to the players for penalties and left it up to the captains and vets to correct the problem.
ljer
I'm with ya...I get aggravated too. It's the lack of consistency from the refs that ticks me off. Watch any other game on Sunday, and see how many times taunting is called. It's sometimes tough to control your emotions when guys are pushing you out of bounds or hitting you late. Personnally, to me, I can live with a couple roughness penalties, it shows my team is playing with emotion...something we have'nt seen from this club in a long while. Delay of game penalities, coming out of a timeout, are the kind that get under my skin.
Skins26
McCants didnt do it to taunt him. He did it as if to say "why the hell did you hit me late???" You could tell that by how upset he was that they called him for taunting. By the way I thought the officials were going to get hardcore about spinning the ball after plays??? That Finn guy did it in OT after his big play and they did nothing! The most inconsistent people in the world are NFL officials. Get me some robots that never mess up and we'll play the Giants again, we'll see who wins.
OaktonSkins/BushFan
"Taunting" penalties contribute absolutely nothing to the quality of the game. This is a game of strong men both physically AND mentally. The weak minded need not apply. Just another one of many stupid, mindless rules inititiated during the NFL Dark Ages. NavyDave
Art Monk Barry Sanders, Darrell Green and the newest skins L Coles. What do they have in common? They let their performance do the talking for them.
Muskrat
True ND, many of the best players simply do their job and give the ball to the official after the play. Doing your job good is enough, there is no need to go the 'extra mile' and taunt the other guy. Unfortunately, in recent years, we are seeing more and more of the 'me first' generation who feel the need to not only succeed on the field of play, but to verbally and gesturally let everyone know that they succeed on the field. Unfortunate.
Ryman of the North
I dont recall barry sanders doing anything stupid and if i recall he was alright as a runningback and may have made a few big plays. It is a symptom not a disease, when it is more important to look macho than help your team to win(thanks again trotter)i mean third and forever and you get an unecessary roughness how stupid do you have to be? Yes i understand playing with emotion as a matter of fact in my league im known as a bit of a loose cannon but in 9 seasons ive only gotten 10 penalties and 3 were for roughness. Its called time and place you can always get even on a football field thats why we dont have fighting! the Idiocy that permeates profootball from the ebonics talking even by stanford grads to the taunting after every little play(last time i checked a team gaining 13 yards and a first down was a reason to celebrate for the offence not the defence and a 3 yard run is a bad thing unless its for a TD no reason to celebrate.taking off your helmet and throat slashing gestures are just lame. NavyDave
I just want to see how the fans will react to the next taunting penalty.
