  1. 1. Should I Become a Two Teamer?

    • Yes. Nothing wrong at all. You're over thinking this.
    • Heck No. A true fan only has one team. No debate needed.
    • I have no idea. To each his own. Good luck mate.

Countdown until preseason / season: http://www.redskinsplayers.info/countdown.html

This is something I've done for the past 3 offseasons, although last year was kind of a wash because of the lockout. Please let me know of any dates you would like me to add. I will stay on top of this and update it as more dates get announced. As always, I'm sure it will be a very active offseason for the Redskins. I can't wait! Please consider this a never-ending work in progress.

Here are the links to the previous years for reference.

Additional info about camps thanks to Rich Tandler:

http://www.realredskins.com/rich-tandlers-real-redsk/2012/01/nfl-calendar-offseason-activities-get-rolling-soon.html

Mid-April through mid-June—The voluntary offseason conditioning and practice sessions have been pushed back on the calendar due to the new CBA. Teams can have a maximum of 10 OTA’s compared to 14 in previous offseasons. A mandatory minicamp will be scheduled sometime in this time frame.
Late July—Training camp will start. While there has been talk of camp moving somewhere else, either in the D. C. area or elsewhere, the presence of the practice bubble, which should be ready soon, is likely to keep it at Redskins Park.

Some good detail about the dates listed above, thanks to Emmanual Benton.

Good lord, what a schedule next year...wow.

We could be in for a longer season if we don't make drastic improvements lol

Yeah, look on the bright side...our schedule is easier than the Giants, Eagles, and Cowboys since we drew the Rams and Vikings. The division may be easier to win than a wild card.

Got it! Free Agency and Trading period begins on March 13, 2012...

May as well include this since it will come up over and over and over and over:

Manning's bonus (22 million) is due BEFORE trades can be made. Unless he restructures his deal (and the only way he will is if he gets to dictate where he goes/who is drafted) Colts are NOT trading him but MAY release him.

I think we should be adding P. Manning's monster roster bonus, due in March. (can't remember exact date??)

That COULD be a huge clue, in what they plan to do at the QB position, imo.

If they feel he is healthy and pay him the 20+ millions roster bonus in march, this probably indicates he will remain a Colt and not be released as a Free Agent. (This could be Huge, in what the redskins do in the draft and have rippling ramifications as well)

If Manning is released before that deadline, then it's a signal who they are drafting #1 & possibly the Redskins targeting Manning, for the usual band aid we always do. (gasp)

But I do believe this is an important date for us.

Can you add this date, please?

Thank you

Question: can teams negotiate with their own free agents at any time? Do they have to wait for a certain date? If so, then that date would be a good date to know. (I just don't remember.)

Another important date is the deadline teams can tag Franchise and Transition tag players. That's some time before Free Agency begins, but I'm not sure when.

Here we go!

http://www.yardbarker.com/all_sports/articles/colts_cant_trade_qb_peyton_manning_before_28m_roster_bonus_is_due/8261500

Found November 22, 2011 on GridironFans.com: Yardbarker Blogger Network

PLAYERS: Peyton Manning, Peter King, Tom Condon

TEAMS: Indianapolis Colts

Peter King of Sports Illustrated reports that the Colts can't trade quarterback Peyton Manning before his huge $28 million option bonus is due. The bonus is payable several days before the start of the 2012 league year, traditionally around March 1. Trades can't be made until the league year begins. So if Manning and his agent, Tom Condon, don't agree to extend the deadline for payment of the option, the Colts will have to let him go for nothing or exercise the option and pay him huge money ... and perhaps not know for sure if he's going to be whole with his neck injury for 2012. In terms of cash paid to Manning in 2012, if the Colts hold onto him for the 2012 season, the number is $35.4 million (the $28 million bonus and $7.4 million salary) and for a franchise like Indianapolis, which is not among the leaders in revenue production, a $35.4 million cash outlay for a guy who may not last a full season is a pretty big risk.

So I guess March 1st??

Or before March 13th? (fa begins)

Updated the OP to list all our draft picks. I got it from Walter football. For some reason i was thinking we got a 6th rounder from Minny for McNabb. Maybe i was wrong?

---------- Post added January-16th-2012 at 08:38 AM ----------

Ok I found this so Im going to assume we also have pick 3 in round 6 as well even though walter football says otherwise:

We lost one in the Hightower trade and he has us losing the other 6th to the Saints. It was a conditional pick with Jamaal Brown playing in 90% of the snaps in the 2010-2011 game. I thought he missed at least 2 games and some snaps in other games, so I thought we'd still have that pick. Don't know how to confirm or deny either way.
