All Things North Korea Thread

The North Korea saga just isn't going to end well. They have the potential to decimate South Korea and when they do launch an attack, the retaliation will be brutal. I'm just wondering when all of this is going to happen...

They are not going to attack South Korea. They have zero offensive capability and would be mopped up after killing a lot of people for nothing. They know this. All of this :pooh: is just to try and have some relevance/leverage in the world, and to make sure that no one can ever invade them.

South Korea unveils missile it says can hit North's leaders

South Korea unveiled a cruise missile on Thursday that it said can hit the office of North Korea's leaders, trying to address concerns that it is technologically behind its unpredictable rival which this week conducted its third nuclear test.

South Korean officials declined to say the exact range of the missile but said it could hit targets anywhere in North Korea.

The Defence Ministry released video footage of the missiles being launched from destroyers and submarines striking mock targets. The weapon was previewed in April last year and officials said deployment was now complete.

"The cruise missile being unveiled today is a precision-guided weapon that can identify and strike the window of the office of North Korea's leadership," ministry spokesman Kim Min-seok said told reporters.

Can someone explain to a politically uneducated person like myself, the reason why NK hates America so much, if there is even any logic behind it ?

It's not like much of the rest of Asia and Middle East, that hates us for religious-related reasons.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's because we support South Korea ?

Cold War, capitalism vs communism, sanctions and of course we're the sole reason they're North Korea and not Korea Korea. They damn near conquered the south and united the entire Korean peninsula under their rule (even with us there) but we stopped them and drove them back. Then we nearly united the peninsula, until China stepped in and we got the two Korea's you see today. That whole Korean War thing. And with life so ****ty there, they tell their people it's our fault.

As I sad in another response.. this is first year Basic Oppression and Propaganda 101.

How To Control a Population.

Rule 1. Create a common enemy.

Rule 2. Blame them for ALL of your problems.

Rule 3. convince the people that only the regime is strong enough to keep the enemy at bay.

Make the people fear them more than they do you.

Why are you hungry?

Because the Americans poisoned our soil and prevents food shipments.

Why are you cold?

because the Americans destroy our ability to make heat and electricity.

How did they do it?

Who asked that? shoot them immediately! Shoot their entire family, for it's obvious they're sympathizers and subversives.

Do you want to be shot? Then blame the Americans for what happened to your neighbor who questioned the wisdom of the Divine Leader.

You know every time they launch a missile, whether it works or not, they tell their people it was launched to defend them from an act of aggression from us, and it was gloriously successful.

A few years ago it came out that they had ordered a schoolbook supply of "the Diary of Anne frank" with the Nazis changed to Brits and Americans.

They hate us because they're told to. And the regime hates us because they need to.. without that friction they begin to lose that grip of fear they've created in their people about us.

And without fear, oppressed people soon revolt.

So, basically the same thing that's going on in this country, only a bit more intense, huh ?

In many ways.. absolutely.

I wouldn't say "intense"... just "complete".. in other words, those who use those tactics here have not achieved their level as oppressors.

http://news.yahoo.com/dennis-rodman-worms-way-north-korea-051224872.html

Former NBA star Dennis Rodman brought his basketball skills and flamboyant style — neon-bleached hair, tattoos, nose studs and all — on Tuesday to the isolated Communist country with possibly the world's drabbest dress code: North Korea.

Arriving in Pyongyang, the American athlete and showman known as "The Worm" became an unlikely ambassador for sports diplomacy at a time of heightened tensions between the U.S. and North Korea. Or maybe not so unlikely: Young leader Kim Jong Un is said to have been a fan of the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s, when Rodman won three championships with the club.

North Korea Has a Friend in Dennis Rodman and VICE

Earlier today former Chicago Bulls superstar Dennis Rodman presided over a mixed-match basketball game in Pyongyang alongside Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un. The teams consisted of VICE correspondent Ryan Duffy; Moose Weekes, Buckets Blakes, and Bull Bullard of the Harlem Globetrotters; and North Korea's "Dream Team," all of whom played their hearts out in what we have termed a "basketball diplomacy" mission. Following the game, Rodman gave a stirring speech that extended an olive branch to the Hermit Kingdom.

The VICE crew is currently having a reception at the Supreme Leader's house, and Duffy has invited Kim Jung-un to America and to tour the VICE offices. There isn't much more to say other than that because our jaws are still on the floor. So while we pick them up and get more info from our team, enjoy these photos of the game.

So i saw some of Rodman's interview with George Snuffleupagus, and really,, that idiot ought to be taken out and flogged.

What a complete waste of space.

Compared gulags filled with starving political prisoners to Bill Clinton getting a BJ, among other things.

when asked about the thousands of people disappeared by hit squads, the dumb **** replied "you don't know him like I do."

When told north korea promises to destroy America, he replied that we do the same thing to them.

Honestly.. revoke his ****ing citizenship and set him adrift on an ice floe.

A small one.

What a useless piece of ****.

Removing a braindead Dennis Rodman from the argument, the idea of the Globetrotters visiting there is a bit more difficult. On one hand, it can be argued they are endorsing this horrific regime. On the other hand, they have the ability to provide kids with a brief reprieve from an oppresive environment give a glimpse to a culture completely foreign to them. Granted probably the only kids there were from the dictator's lackeys families but kids nontheless.

Either way, having N Koreans who routinely pledge to kill Americans cheer for a team wearing these uniforms is insane.

Watched the Rodman interview and cringed @ the morbid stupidity on display.

I can't even believe we're giving this crap press coverage and granting that jackass interviews. Stick to cross-dressing Rodman, you're much more proficient at that art than you are diplomacy. What a damn joke.

Other than Rodman's incredibly low level of intelligence and awareness, i think the only otyher thing I got out of that interview is that playing "guess what" as a drinking game whenever he talks is bound to get everybody plastered.

Guess what.. it was like guess what, every other word.

When I think of Dennis Rodman practicing U.S. diplomacy, I think "What one person in the entire universe would be the exact opposite in demeanor, approach, and appearance from Secretary of State John Kerry?" and the answer is Dennis Rodman.

U.S., China in tentative deal on U.N. N.Korea sanctions draft: envoys

The United States and China have struck a tentative deal on a draft U.N. Security Council sanctions resolution that would punish North Korea for its third nuclear test last month, U.N. diplomats said on Monday.

Separately, the U.N. press office announced that Russia, which holds the presidency of the 15-nation Security Council this month, will convene closed-door consultations on North Korea at 11:00 a.m. EST (1600 GMT) in New York on Tuesday.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the U.N. diplomats said they hoped to receive the draft resolution at Tuesday's council session. They added that they hope the council will vote on the resolution by the end of this week.

"I hope to see a draft tomorrow perhaps, but you know it's up to the Americans," a diplomat told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

Hotel boots rowdy Rodman over Kim Jong Un scene

Dennis Rodman, just back from visiting Kim Jong Un, was escorted out of the Time Hotel in Midtown on Sunday after spending hours at the restaurant bar loudly telling anyone who would listen what a great guy the North Korean dictator is.

“He was at the bar at Serafina for three hours,” says a spy. “He kept saying what a nice guy Kim is, and how Kim just wants to talk to President Obama about basketball. He was waving around a signed copy of the dictator’s huge manifesto, telling everyone they should read it.”

Added the witness, “Dennis was making a total jerk of himself. He wouldn’t leave, and he wouldn’t let anyone talk to him about shutting up, or what an oppressive country North Korea is. Eventually he had to leave the bar because the bartender was starting to get [bleep]ed-off.”

This just is: cross dressing guy whose only talent in life was jumping up and grabbing a ball out of the air better than everybody else caught preaching in hotel bar about how the dictator of a totalitarian government which has been perpetually at war since 1950 is actually a really great guy.
