Champskins
I see your point, but he let a lot of people down and hopefully he's not a leader on this team until he matures. He's missing four games due to a stupid mistake... and I believe he will learn from it. On the other hand, people are praising Cooley, but compared to four games from Davis, Cooley has missed a lifetime! And I love Cooley as well, but Davis is the downfield hybrid TE that is more traditional in this passing league
Hooper
I would be shocked if we didn't. Landry... I'm not so sure. I would probably franchise him to see if his body breaks down or not.

kevinklein
While Davis's actions have been disappointing, you can't let a guy, who we drafted, who is blossoming, just go. Especially with Cooley on the down and down. I have images of RG III to Fred Sleepy Davis for year to come.
Rufus T Firefly
Landry gets the tag... 65% chance I'd go with 85% chance. Maybe even higher. Unless we need it for Davis. I was always of the opinion that we should tag and trade Landry. But his injury problems are starting to make me think that not only does he not have great trade value, but it might not even be worth risking having to pay him that big check for one year. tiger187126
1 more failed test would be a 1 year ban correct? i mean he's already violated it enough to have this brought up, but the NFLPA covered him and TW's ass and used the grace period to knock it down to 4 games. he's talented and all, but he lacks concentration (no joke intended) and he's one more slip up away from missing a year. the story that he had 30 days to clean up and knew he was going to take another test that he went on to fail tells me he just doesn't get it. i want the fred davis from 2 years ago, with a cleaned up act at least during the season and i'd resign him. otherwise i'm not sure it's worth building a game plan and a future around a guy who might not be eligible to play. S.T.real,lights,out
I would think so but it would really suck if he's caught again and we lose him for a year

Common, that's just stupidity. ---------- Post added December-6th-2011 at 03:08 PM ---------- 1 more failed test would be a 1 year ban correct? It'll be interesting to see what was negotiated because their 3rd offense would have been a 1 year ban but reduced to 4 games. If they test hot the next time, do they get thet 1 year ban or the next level of punishment? Also, is the next level of punishment 2 years or out of the league? ---------- Post added December-6th-2011 at 03:11 PM ---------- The thing is you can't give another contract a guy that might get a 2 year or lifetime ban because if you are depending on the guy to produce and something happens you take to make up his production and take the cap hit. PlayAction
[quote=Busch1724; [/color]The thing is you can't give another contract a guy that might get a 2 year or lifetime ban because if you are depending on the guy to produce and something happens you take to make up his production and take the cap hit. That's the real problem. If he's a key guy then you are taking a real risk with the team if he's banned for a full year or more. The guys that get the second chance are ones that are coming in as a complementary piece to a team. Skins can't afford to give him guaranteed money with the risk that he'll be gone for a year. So, the question is whether Davis will re-sign with minimal guaranteed money. Unfortunately, his actions cost him a lot of money but also destroyed his trade value. I hope he does stick with the Skins but at a reasonable contract. I don't think the Skins are going to franchise LL either. He's been a part time contributor for the last two seasons and his injury appears to be a chronic condition. While he could get surgery I think the achilles surgery would keep him out for at least a year at best and permanently at worst. IMO - using that high of a draft pick on a safety was a mistake from the get go. He's used to getting paid a lot and his value just isn't that high. There's just no reason for the Skins to give him a big contract....he'll probably try to go elsewhere.
SkinsCrushCowboys
He gets reasigned, aside from his inability to stay awake and his fondness of the hippy lettuce.....he can be a playmaker in a TE mandatory league.
GaryGreenMonk
anyone know if the 1 year ban hangs over both their heads for the rest of their careers... or if it resets to zero violations after a few years of not being caught or something? NavyDave
He should not be signed since the pro pothead demographic wants to downplay his selfish and stupid behaviour. I have a feeling the team will do so only after offering an incentive laden contract with drug clauses. Tightends can be found. Heck the Patriots as we will see on Sunday have two that are just as talented. No one non franchise player having a career year is bigger than the team. So if we do not sign him the worst thing that will happen is that we do not make the playoffs unlike this yearr oh wait.
GO HAMSKINS
People it's just weed. Hell, maybe it should be made legal in this country even. The hypocrisy in our country you can drink beer and smoke cigarettes, both way more harmful to the body ,but can't fire up a joint? SMH Anyway, there is no way you let FD83 or TW go for this. Hell the Cowboys had a team full of coke heads on their SB teams. lol just saying cocaine is a hell of a drug
tshile
It's not that it's weed. It's that i fhe gets caught one more time (after getting caught 3 times) he gets suspended for a year. Why would you pay big money for a guy who can burn you for a year like that?

Bleed B&G
I could easily see management trying to "lowball" him and he leaves and somebody else giving him a bigger payday. I don't think that its so cut and dry that we get him back.

8181
Just pay him, salary-loaded in the early years in lieu of signing bonus... If he screws up, he forfeits the salary and we don't have some guaranteed money ****ing up the cap
abdcskins
Pay him. Pay that man his money. Seriously though, our one good pick from the 2008 draft and we wanna get rid of him now that he mas matured into a great player? Why? What is the reasoning in that? That is not how you build good football teams.
tomwvr
He needs to be sent down the street. If he smokes one more time he is out for a year. If he gets caught two more times he can never play in the NFL again. Too much of a risk.
