authentic
i don't give a crap what the local mediots say. We have to re-sign Freddie! I'm sure Mike will ruffle his feathers a bit to get his tail back in line. But i think re-signing him is a no-brainer.
ddub52
The suspension is most likely good news. We should be able to sign him cheaper because of "character issues" and the fact that he wont have a full 16 games to prove himself to another team. ericsawyerrr
Hopefully they put a clause in his contract that if he is suspended or tests positive again than he can be cut without penalty. If he isn't willing to accept that, then in my opinion, he isn't worth keeping around on the Redskins anyways.
Long-Time-Fan
I like Davis very much ,he is one of the best players to watch. But you gotta let him go. You can't keep someone like that.He will eventually mess up again. Not only that but it sends the wrong message to the guys who are trying to turn this franchise around. If kept it shows that the coaches don't care what you do if you can play. Davis failed 3 times in 1 year.As did Williams. If he goes somewhere else and does great so be it. If he goes somewhere else and gets suspended again then so be it. How do you keep guys like that when your trying to build a winner? You can't. I personally don't want that. I can take the pain of seeing players I like leave but I can't take another slap in the face from guys like this on my team.
jthor99
leverage is managements side when it comes to resigning Davis. He fits the mold this system requires, as well as what the TE in the NFL as evolved into. I'm of the opinion, Cooley will be let go next offseason, so signing Davis seems to be a no brainer
nonniey
Yesterday was the last game we will see Davis in a Redskin uniform. The Redskins will either not offer a contract or will not offer a competitive contract. Hopefully his departure will open Williams eyes.

He's been our best weapon this season, and is a top-ten tight end in the league. He's coming back.
issapunk
If I was betting on it, I would put my money on us re-signing him and putting in some sort of clause to keep him in line. We need him on this team and I honestly don't care about him smoking weed, I care that the league thinks they have the right to punish players for their actions when they were not even considered a part of the NFL. Unless Davis and Williams continued to smoke after the lockout ended, which I don't think happened. I don't even understand why smoking weed is considered a punishable action by the NFL. How does it affect them at all? HGH is way more of an issue.
Dirt
I dunno, the more I think about it, the more worried I get. When you put it like: "He has to never smoke weed ever again"....sounds easy, but it's not. Not because it's some super addictive drug, but because it's such a social thing and I'm sure all his boys are smoking. He can't ride with guys smoking, can't hang in the same room as guys smoking (shouldn't anyway), and so it's more of a lifestyle turnaround than you'd think. Also, when are drug tests handed out? Randomly, I know, but only during the season? When the season's over does he go "FINALLY!" and go spark some **** up? Does he hit his last blunt at least 30 days before the season starts to flush out his system? I mean, ideally, he just puts the **** down forever, but let's be real. He's going to be around the stuff all the time if he has before. Hopefully his friends respect his career, but weed is such a casual thing that I don't think the lifestyle changes, and it's definitely a possibility he's busted again. In fact, I'm SHOCKED there isn't like dozens and dozens of guys getting 4 games suspensions right now. I'm thinking they got lucky. Sleepy and Silverback aren't the only one's who've been busted and continued to smoke, for real.

The Redskins will either not offer a contract or will not offer a competitive contract. Hopefully his departure will open Williams eyes. That's a little extreme ya think? Let's stop acting like smoking marijuana = smoking/selling crack, or killing dogs, or hiding a gun in your pants at the club. A LOT of these guys smoke, don't kid yourself. Again, I'm SHOCKED there aren't dozens of suspensions. For instance, Tim Lincecum is 100% open about smoking weed, does it all the time, gets busted sometimes, won a world series last year, everyone loves him. I sear to god, he's high on the mound lol. Like many, I think the laws on pot are silly, but I can understand them being applied heavily to professional athletes who are expected to be role models, get paid millions, and can retire super early with plenty of party years left. HigSkin
You've got to resign him. Next to Helu, he is the only playmaker we have on offense. Helu was signed to a 4 year, they don't need to worry about him. 7/28/2011: Signed a four-year, $2.51 million contract. The deal includes a $470,250 signing bonus. Meanwhile, I believe they'll be resigning both Davis and Fletch in the offseason. Let's face it, his stats keep him here. Through 12 games, Davis was on pace for 78.6 catches, 1,061 yards and four touchdowns. You don't let a playmaker like that walk, weed smoker or not. I'm sure he'll be taken to the "wood shed" by Shanny and probably come out with some kind of remorseful statement.

WSHRedskins3ATLBraves3
We obviously are going to re-sign him. Anyone that thinks we arent hasn't been watching the games. I'm not sure of the contract rules in the NFL but maybe they could put a clause in his contract that if he gets caught again it becomes void. Either way, he's not a cancer and he's a very good tight end. Not to mention he's home grown. It's not even a question.

bowhunter
I think this "recreational" use of ILLEGAL drugs would go away if the courts would/could prosecute a player based upon a very reliable blood test. Instead of making them sit out a few games, let their asses rot in jail. Problem solved. Whether you approve or not, it is an ILLEGAL substance. HailGreen28
What's scary to me is that those two knuckleheads could have been suspended for a year. If not for a settlement between the nfl and union. (presumably the rest of this season and 12 games next season?) I hope those two realize how lucky they are. Would hate to lose them. Until the DEA says otherwise, it's an illegal drug. FD and TW I'm sure were aware of that. I never was much of a pill-popping dope freak and perhaps that is what influences my stance on the issue. Not saying it should or should not be illegal, but at least acknowedging that it is. I did say "jail," not prison. If they disagree with the law, they should get it changed, but until then they knowingly violated the law.
LadySkinsFan
We will offer him a contract but it won't be what it was a few days ago. His contract year is now messed up and he has devalued himself. This episode just cost him more money than 4 suspended games. It's cost him a more lucrative contract. GO HAMSKINS
If we don't sign FD83 We deserve to continue to sit at the bottom of the NFC again year after year. We are "rebuilding" right? Letting our best offensive weapon go isn't the best decision to make when going into a "rebuilding " year. We need our draft picks being used for the empty holes on this team. Not replacing the NFL's elite players we already have on this team. FD83 has impressed all year long. Best believe there are a lot of teams hoping and wishing that we (Redskins) will be as naive as some of the fans are. They're waiting for us to cut a good young player, that's not a team cancer, then sign them without wasting a draft pick. You know "rebuild" ? KS and MS both have said that FD83 worked harder in this off season then most players we have on our team this year. I believe the Shanny's. Fd83 has looked very good this season ... Bottom line is this, we need to address way more issues on this team. TE is not one of them!
