redman
For amusement, I decided to compare Patrick's stats from his first three games with Kurt Warner's first three games in 1999, when he had the most remarkable season passing since Marino in 1984. Warner (week opp / att comp yds TD INT / rush yds TD) | 1 bal | 28 44 316 3 2 | 1 -1 0 | | 3 atl | 17 25 275 3 0 | 2 7 1 | | 4 cin | 17 21 310 3 0 | 1 0 0 | Total 62 90 901 9 2 | 4 6 1 | Ramsey | 1 nyj | 17 23 185 1 1 | 2 27 0 | | 2 atl | 25 39 356 2 0 | 0 0 0 | | 3 nyg | 23 45 348 2 1 | 3 19 0 | Total 65 107 889 5 2 | 5 46 0 | Warner obviously has the edge. But I wanted to point out that Ramsey's numbers are far more comparable to numbers like Warner's unbelievable '99 numbers, than they are to numbers like guys named Fiedler, Testaverde, Brees, Harrington, Blake, or any of the other also-rans in the league. And I'd also point out that Warner's opposition during those first three games was below that which Ramsey has faced. We have a star in the making, and I'd emphasize in the making. He's going to get better, folks, and that has to be a scary prospect to teams like the Giants for whom no lead is safe with him.
redman
I don't expect these numbers, particularly the passing yards, to remain at this level, but Ramsey's on track for: 4740 yds 27 TD's 10 INT's The last stat is IMHO the most remarkable for a young QB. If he only meets one of those numbers over the course of the season, I'd prefer it to be that one, especially given that our defense doesn't seem to generate many turnovers. I can't imagine that we'd miss the playoffs with him only throwing 10 INT's.
fansince62
catch bledsoe yesterday? he tossed up some horrendous picks down by the goal line. wasn't b-soe the top rated QB last week?
Phat Hog
Same old story, when the going gets tough, Bledsoe gets going with interceptions and poor decisions.
gbear
So how do Ramsey's stats compare with George's season with the Vikings? I'm not trying to throw a damper, but a large part of me can't believe he'll have this type of success all year. I htink that's too muc hto hope for. I'm still hoping though. Mad Mike
Let me say this right now. Ramsey is going to be a great NFL QB. I don't mean great as in very good. I mean great as in Elway, Montana, Marino, great. He is the best I have seen in a long, long, time. Thank God he plays for us.
redman
gbear, I can't do a straight George '99, Ramsey '03 comparison because George didn't go into that season as the starter; Cunningham first got benched. Here, however, are George's first three starts in '99: 7 sfo | 15 28 250 3 1 | 0 0 0 | 8 den | 17 29 218 2 0 | 1 0 0 | 9 dal | 17 30 218 3 1 | 5 11 0 | Total 49 87 686 8 2 | 6 11 0 | Ramsey compares favorably everywhere except TD's. And again, Ramsey's had tougher defenses than then '99 Cowboys or 9'ers.
