11/12/11 CBS Republican Foreign Policy Debate

visionary

Recommended Posts

It starts in less than an hour on CBS. (8 pm EST)

I'm a little disappointed that it's apparently only an hour long.

That means Rick Perry will have to finish his sentence in the next debate.

So what are you all looking forward to/hoping for/expecting to see in this debate?

The three things im looking foward to are each person's policy regarding Israel, Iran, and uhh let's see. Three things im looking foward to are Israel, Iran, and uhh.. ooops

I think we will see the candidates put on a contest to see which can hug Israel the hardest.

Ron Paul will miss Israel and hug Iran by accident ;).

Iran will fall in love with Ron and decide they really want to give up any plans for Nukes and legalize gay marriage instead.

:D

Introducing the Candidates.

Cain is first to be asked a question.

He says he will assist the opposition in Iran.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:06 PM ----------

Cain is actually making some interesting points...holy ****.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:08 PM ----------

Romney just schooled the moderater.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:10 PM ----------

Newt wants to take out Iranian scientists with covert operations...uh.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:12 PM ----------

Perry wants to answer the previous question too.

Shut down the Iranian central bank....

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:13 PM ----------

Perry is doing ok so far, but speaking seems like a struggle for him at times.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:15 PM ----------

Is Santorum talking about the MEK...rebel forces in Iran...those guys aren't liked by anyone there....

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:16 PM ----------

The candidates must have been studying this stuff for months, lol.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:17 PM ----------

Hunstman says bring the troops home from Afghanistan.

(not really surprising)

Don't nation build in Afhganistan when we should be building this nation at home.

Leave special ops forces.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:20 PM ----------

Newt says we don't have a clue how hard this will be in Afghanistan.

We will never be able to stop them as long as they can hide in Pakistan.

Is he talking about invading Pakistan?

Rick Perry has his own version of Sign Language that only he can understand,

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:28 PM ----------

Santorum says that Pakistan must be our friend and he isn't liking what he's hearing so far. (because they have nuclear power and they have lots of extremists)

We need to work with the elements in Pakistan that don't work with terrorists.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:35 PM ----------

Gingrich refuses to take a shot at Romney and back up a statement he made the day before, compliments Romney and bashes Obama instead. Nice manuever.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:41 PM ----------

Perry is trying to convince us that he can be commander in chief because he has met with generals and worked very hands on with the military.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:42 PM ----------

Cains says waterboarding is not torture but enhanced interrogation.

He would use it and so would Bachman.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:42 PM ----------

WTF is Bachman talking about?

She just done whipped out the crazy.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:43 PM ----------

Paul says waterboarding is torture and illegal under international law and our law and impractical and gets bad evidence and very little evidence.

He is rambling though stumbling over himself as he speaks.

Bachman wanted to rebutt and the moderator gives it to Huntsman instead,

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:45 PM ----------

Hunstman says we should not torture and waterboarding is torture and we project a lot of values that...[missed what he said]

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:47 PM ----------

Romney wants this century to be an American Century and America should lead the world.

He will do whatever is needed to make that happen, within the law.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:53 PM ----------

Perry and Romney come out breathing fire against China.

Huntsman sticks up for China.

He says we should reach out to the young people in China, specifically the internet using population.

They will make China experiance change that will bring them down....

Hunstman isn't getting much oportunity to finish his sentences. lol

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 08:57 PM ----------

I think the feed is cutting stuff out.... This is annoying.

This is really dumb.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 09:05 PM ----------

Cain says the revolutions got out of hand and Egypt is close to coming under Muslim Brotherhood control.

Obama is being mean to our buddy/mass murder Saleh in Yemen and told him to go.

(because no one else in Yemen can help us go after terrorists....)

Gingrich says that Mubarak did everything he could to be nice to us and we shoved him out of power.

Paul says the Syrians should deal with their country...whatever that means.

Not sure what Romney said abut Syria, other than covert operations are a good idea and Assad's time to fall has come.

(this feed keeps pausing and skipping things)

There's 87 users in this thread?

Ron Paul says Obama has assassinated 3 American Citizens including a 16 year old in Yemen.

We can now be assassinated by someone we wouldn't even trust to do our medical bills.

And now the president can decide this unilaterally.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 09:12 PM ----------

That was a strong moment by Perry.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 09:13 PM ----------

Paul says he voted for the authority to go after Bin Laden, but that is a lot different than assassinating US citizens.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 09:16 PM ----------

Huntsman gets to speak again...for a little bit.

They're answering a question from De Mint about debt and spending right now.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 09:20 PM ----------

Bachman says that Obama adds twice the debt in one month that Republicans added in a year when they were in control.

Santorum is all over the place on this answer.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 09:26 PM ----------

Newt is the smartest person in the room.

He doesn't give much in the way of answers though.

Pretty much every answer is the same.

He just keeps saying how complicated everything is.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 09:28 PM ----------

Perry looks so goofy up there.

It's hard to watch him at times.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 09:30 PM ----------

I think it's over.

Bachman says that Obama adds twice the debt in one month that Republicans added in a year when they were in control.

And it's not true.

(Not even if you assume that "one year when they were in control" means "if you cherry pick the best year the Rebublicans had".)

In fact, it's not true if you cherry pick a year, and remove the word "twice".

Edit: maybe if "a year when they were in control" refers to 1886, or something.

---------- Post added November-12th-2011 at 09:38 PM ----------

Certainly the wonkiest, but if he was so smart how did he get in so much **** ? :ols:

Same way Clinton did. Thinking with the little head.

He is a interesting combination of intelligence and cunning, and knows how to work people well......smart is a different critter imo

That was just my summary of what she said.

She was referring to 2007 compared to October 2011.
