Yay!

Makes me angry at Marc Forster for dropping the better ending of Quantum of Solace, though. He should have wrapped up the White storyline instead of offering the lamest of excuses for not doing so.

I was so dissapointed in Quantum Of Solace. I hope this one is a lot better.

I love me some James Bond

I love James Bond movies, ever since I saw "Goldfinger" and figured out ***** Galore was a "lesbian" until James had his way with her. I was soooo disappointed! ;)

I especially like the James Bond themes. I have a CD with the earliest 13 I think there are on it.

Yay!

edited to add: I guess the site software didn't like the name of the Bond character with the last name of Galore. You all know what it is anyway! :evilg:

Yep saw this today....errr yesterday, Daniel Craig is my favorite Bond with the obvious exception of Connery (Nobody Does it Better), I love the intensity of the new Bond movies and I'm kinda glad they got away from the gadgets, as cool as they are they just tend to be over the top, I mean really I know Q was good but skis on an Aston Martin....give me a break! I'd rather just put 007 in the fight and let him with his skill work his way out of it, that IMO is far more entertaining than some dorky gimmick.

BTW, this is how 007 handles problems.....

I actually liked all of the cool gadgets :kickcan:

Loved the remote control for the Bimmer in Tommorow Never Dies. The sequence in Die Another Day with the Vanquish was borderline erotic.

I'm sure that Daniel Craig will be my second favorite Bond once he's finished, but as of right now, Sean Connery is the undisputed alpha male, with Pierce Brosnan coming in at number 2.

I consider Craig BETTER than Connery.

Granted, a big reason for that is that the script actually stuck to the book very closely. (As opposed to the recent trend where the only thing they take from the book is the title).

But I thought Craig actually conveyed the FEEL of the character. Just going from memory, I think that every time Flemming described Bond, the first word he used to describe him was always "cruel".

Maybe the book sucked.

Well Deaver is a NY Times best selling author of crime and mysteries. He does have Bond drinking Crown Royal, Grenadine and a splash of bitters on the rocks in his book which I personally found offensive.

The drink product placement after casino royal is getting a bit much.

Actually, there was a scene I really, really, wanted to have in Casino Royalle.

When Bond loses at the poker table, and he's pacing the outer casino, seriously pissed off, I wanted a scene.

A few tables away, there's a card game going on at a table. There's a big reaction from the crowd of onlookers. Cheers, applause, and a few groans. The camera looks over that way. We see the crowd reacting. We see one player, at the table, who's facing us, look pissed. He throws his cards down, gets up, and leaves the table, all while glaring at some old guy who's back is turned towards us. A hot babe gushes, and drapes herself across the old fart's shoulders.

Old fart Raises one finger, and an alert waiter is instantly at his side. Old fart, still with his back towards us, orders "Vodka martini. Shaken, not stirred."

In Sean Connery's voice.

Bond stops the waiter. "I'll have what he's having."

QOS was such a let down.

Well, we get MoneyPenny and hopefully Q. It's time for Gadgets and having the Bond Theme having prominence in some part of the movie.

I expect next fall to be big for Bond fans as it will be the 50th anniversary of the movies.

QOS was definitely a huge letdown (though the opening sequence was pretty damn cool). But just say no to gadgets. They always require some ridiculous deus ex machina plot point to ensure that the precise item he got will save his life or come in super handy. It's lame, and does not fit with the gritty realism they've gone for in this string of movies. "Gadgets" cannot go further than an aston marton with some weapons/defenses built into it.

good news, I'm hoping this new one is better than the last.

I was ticked off by this comment in the article though: GoldenEye," a forgettable Bond film known mostly for an awesome Nintendo 64 game.

Goldeneye the movie is one of the better ones IMO and is certainly one of the best, more-recent ones

I don't mind gadgets if they aren't made too ridiculous. Also, it'd be nice if they weren't all needed to save his life. A gadget with an explicit purpose works fine, I think, too. If the gadget is actually a part of the plan such as a part of the infiltration, or getting a weapon/camera past security, then I don't see the harm. I also don't mind if he uses a gadget here and there while improvising as an option (but don't make every gadget absolutely vital to his survival and just happens to be perfect for the situations he gets into).

This is exactly the way I feel about it; Q invents some seemingly random device which just happens to fit the EXACT situation that Bond (without any foresight) finds himself in. Like a suit with a parachute built in given to Bond for a spelunking trip only to find that Bond has been kidnapped and is about to be thrown from an airplane. Or an Aston Martin with skis on it.....:redpunch:

yeah, the Brosnan bond movies after Goldeneye got ridiculous with that stuff. Goldeneye I thought was good with it. The watch, while it did save his life, it wasn't something tailor-made for the situations he was involved in, and it was made out to be a standard-issue type thing. He used it while improvising an escape, but it wasn't vital to his survival. The grappling-hook gun with a winch built in was part of the infiltration plan. The only thing I could see being a bit over the top in that movie was the grenade pen. I also liked how the remote-detonation feature of his watch wound up not working because 006 knew to expect it.

I consider Craig BETTER than Connery.

This is near heresy....

.....but.....

at times I am tempted to agree. Connery is the classic suave agent lifted straight from Casablanca, but he doesn't fit Flemming's description of Bond, which is much more akin to Craig's Bond. It seems my father and I have this same discussion about every third time we talk, and at first I revolted against the idea, but the more I've seen Craig the more I've been able to see Flemming's vision of Bond separated from the cartoon that it became during the 80's-90's. Bond needs to be slick in a tux but then he needs to be able to snap your neck in an instant, Connery never gives that vibe, Craig does.

So wait, no one here liked the remote control for the car in Tommorow Never Dies?

Not really, for me it was like the million dollar pen that NASA developed to write in zero gravity, when the Russians used a pencil, as Bond would have been able to escape just the same...probably even easier if Q had just added bulletproof windows and armor panels in the doors and body for 1/10th the development costs.

Come on, it's not like it turned into a submarine.

Yeah that too.....
