He's shown he can play in the NFL. Right now neither Helu nor Torrain are doing squat so why not sign him?

Everyone asking if he can play OL can bugger off. A solid Olineman didn't become available. So stop being so ****ing stupid and asking even stupider questions.

I've always liked Choice. Even from his days at GT. IMO, if your a RB at GT, you learn how to run between the tackles in that option attack. I think it has been since Stephen Davis since we have had a runner who can go up the middle and get a big run. All of Portis's big runs have been to the outside. Hopefully he can be that RB, in a ALMOST lost season.

Taking another team's throw away...Great.

Didn't we just get shutout by a team full of other people's throwaways?

So we're not rebuilding??

Why would signing a 26 year old RB mean we're not rebuilding? This team needs as many players as it can get, wherever it can get them.

Optimists view.

Choice is an NFL quality RB. He is a very nice 3rd down guy. Good pass catcher. Is coming into a prime age without major injuries in his past.

Pessimists view.

Castoff from Cowboys, could be a headcase. Has a history of hamstring issues, so he is not always ready to play.

We have two active running backs and another who we could bring up. We need more fat boys protecting the QB and opening up holes for our running backs.

FAIL!

So there are HOF OLmen on waivers? The Skins needed another RB and they got one. It's not a sexy decision, it's a football decision.

We don't need HOF OLmen. In fact, the zone blocking scheme, often times you can find late round, or UDFA OL that will excel in that scheme. It isn't the same prototype as the top drafted OLmen.... Just saying.

All this is also 100% casualty of the "lockout".

Bad or Good "choice", don't really matter. I'm guessing Bruce Almighty had no other options. If this guy can pick up zone scheme and quicker, then might see some result. So the best can happen is we win/lose close games, instead of getting total shutout. Or it can get worst...

It's just going to take a few seasons of the same system to develop a deeper o-line.

I think people are making too big a deal out of this. He won't see the field anyway...likely for "pass protection" issues. And it doesn't really matter who you throw back there if the o-line plays like it did on Sunday. On another note, I don't really see 3 career fumbles as having "fumble issues." Not a bad pick up.

We were going to carry three runningbacks one way or the other. Why does it matter if its Choice instead of Royster? Obviously our staff thinks Royster needs to continue to improve before he can see the field. Most likely its a pass protection issue which happens to be somethin Helu and Torain struggle with as well. Its also something Choice is pretty good at. This signing doesn't prevent us from addressing the offensive line, assuming there is talent available, which there doesn't appear to be. Its an apples to oranges comparison.

I have no idea why people are complaining, we went from deep at RB to completely in the red. Torain has done NOTHING against teams not named the Rams and has an extensive injury history, he can't be an every down back. This leaves us with Helu as the one and only productive starter on the roster and we haven't even seen him play more than like 10 snaps, we need depth at the running back posistion, and believe it or not, a good team needs a strong running game or even a decent one, ESPECIALLY with John Beck at QB and a bunch of no names WRs.

If this signing came off a victory instead of a loss, the thread would be people gloating how we stole him from the Cowboys and we have to convert him. Who cares who the kid played for a week ago? He plays for us now and thats all that matters.

Just stop complaining, we needed a RB and Evan Royster is probably looking terrible in practice. We need a spark to our TERRIBLE running game.

Looking at those videos of Tashard Choice's highlights -- he looks like a running back who will fit in well with the Redskins play-schemes. He's got decent acceleration, good cutback skills, can catch some passes, and seems a little elusive when he finds small seams between the tackles.

The Skins seem to need some depth and 'change of pace' at RB. Assuming that Choice is anywhere near the performance level his videos indicated, then it's worth taking a chance to include him in Shanahan's 'running-back by committee.'

That said, I do wish the Skins would start looking for a left guard though -- Montgomery plays better at center.

I do not disagree with the statement, but it would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Every single capable, healthy lineman in the league is spoken for.
