Riggo-toni
It's a solid system she's working - pander to the lunatic fringe, then whine to them about liberal media bias when CNN et al merely tries to present you with the facts and offer a chance to respond. Play the victimized figure of enlightenment trying to warn society of the perils of imagined evils to raise more funds and garner more attention. Kept Lyndon LaRouche going for years with a fanatical cult following. Still, it's gotten a bit stale. It may be time to end it with photos of her hubby getting caught with a teen male escort or sexting to some gaymatch dot whatever....

GibbsFactor
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) is under investigation by the Office of Congressional Ethics for alleged misuse of campaign funds, as first reported by the Daily Beast.“There are no allegations that the Congresswoman engaged in any wrongdoing,” said her attorney, William McGinley of Patton Boggs. “We are constructively engaged with the OCE and are confident that at the end of their Review the OCE Board will conclude that Congresswoman Bachmann did not do anything inappropriate.” An OCE investigation is a preliminary probe; the office can either dismiss a case or recommend a full House Ethics Committee investigation. Peter Waldron, who served as Bachmann’s national field coordinator in the 2012 presidential race, has filed an the Federal Election Commission complaint alleging that the lawmaker’s campaign improperly used leadership PAC funds to pay presidential campaign staff. He says he has spoken to investigators in what he described as “a very cordial two-hour meeting,” and other staffers tell the Daily Beast that the questions they were asked relate to the same payments. Waldron has also accused Bachmann’s team of not paying Iowa staffers and of attempting to force them to sign non-disclosure agreements. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/03/25/michelle-bachmann-faces-congressional-ethics-probe/?wprss=rss_election-2012

The investigators are working on behalf of the Office of Congressional Ethics, which probes reported improprieties by House members and their staffs and then can refer cases to the House Ethics Committee.William McGinley, Bachmann’s campaign counsel, denied any allegation of misconduct. “There are no allegations that the congresswoman engaged in any wrongdoing,” McGinley told the Daily Beast. “We are constructively engaged with the OCE and are confident that at the end of their review the OCE board will conclude that Congresswoman Bachmann did not do anything inappropriate.” more at link

JimboDaMan
I think it pretty much has to be an armed robbery before something like this gains any traction. My impression is that ethically compromised stuff that would make your hair curl is more or less business as usual. I recall a number of years ago that one legislator (think it was Newt but not sure) was being investigated for alleged violations, specifically using staffers on his payroll to work on his re-election campaign. This was met by indignant and emphatic denials: I did no such thing. Those staffers took unpaid leave of absence to work my campaign. All I did was, upon their return to work, doubled their salary for a period of time to match their unpaid leave. IIRC the outcome of the investigation was, no rules violations, nothing to see here. @DCGoldPants
Bachmann Threatens to Leave Minnesota Over Marriage EqualityCongresswoman Michele Bachmann threatened to leave Minnesota today if the state goes ahead with its plans to legalize gay marriage. In an interview with a local television station, the conservative firebrand said she believes God will destroy Minneapolis once the legislation is enacted, and wants to be far away when the reckoning happens. "The Bible is very clear on this issue," she told KSTP-TV this morning. "Homosexuality is a sin, and God will punish communities that support it. "Sodom and Gomorrah thought they could defy the will of God, and we all know what happened to them. If the governor signs this legislation into law the Minneapolis-St. Paul region will be next. "I have a friend from Eden Prairie who's already packed everything she owns into her car and is driving out to Montana as we speak. These are very scary times. I don't want my family to be the last ones out." More awesomeness from the link. p.s. - this is isn't real

Larry
Yeah, it does read like satire. But it's still funny. Although none of the other states has suffered from Biblical-like destruction, Minnesota's most outspoken voice in Congress told anchor Bruce Nolan that it's only a matter of time. Predicto
That woman is nothing if not entertaining.I can't imagine how Minnesotans could ever have voted for her in the first place. But after she pleads with her constituents to actually flee the state, is it possible even those people could ever elect her again? Sure they would. She's a Representative, not a Senator. She represents a single district around St. Cloud, an area which happens to be very conservative and very mega-church evangelical. It's an extremely safe district -any Republican would win it in a general election. A normal Republican would win it 2:1 easily. The advantage that Bachmann has is national money from conservative tea party organizations. Because of it, she was able to outspend her opponents by a 12 to 1 margin. As long as Bachmann can keep tapping that national money, she can win her primary, and as long as she wins the primary, she can keep on eking out close races over Democrats in the general election. @DCGoldPants
ok, yes, it is satire. I ninja'd that in to the original post there. DCranon21
Michele Bachmann: The IRS Will Kill People Through ObamacareDuring an interview with World Net Daily, former Republican presidential aspirant Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) raised the question: could Obamacare allow the IRS to “deny or delay” conservatives’ access to medical care? Bachmann’s musings come on the heels of an ongoing IRS scandal centering on the agency’s improper scrutiny of conservative political groups. While right-wing commentators and politicians are already using the incident to smear the health law by raising questions about IRS access to Americans’ private medical data, Bachmann took things one step further: Since the IRS also is the chief enforcer of Obamacare requirements, [bachmann] asked whether the IRS’s admission means it “will deny or delay access to health care” for conservatives. At this point, she said, that “is a reasonable question to ask.” hould Americans fear their government may try to harm them if they are conservative? “It now is an entirely reasonable question for the American people to ask,” she said. “Will Obamacare be so politicized and misused?” The IRS has been processing information about Americans’ health care for decades, since approximately 160 million Americans write off their tax-deductible employer-provided health benefits each year. There has been no evidence of any kind of privacy impropriety in all of that time. http://thinkprogress.org/health/2013/05/15/2017211/michele-bachmann-obamacare-irs-kill-people/ Please don't go away You can't make this stuff up. DCranon21
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) this week said that prayers to God will ensure Obamacare’s repeal, after 37 House of Representatives attempts to do so. “I think the President will ultimately be forced to repudiate his own signature piece of legislation because the American people will demand it,” she told an evangelical radio host Tuesday. “And I think before his second term is over, we’re going to see a miracle before our eyes, I believe God is going to answer our prayers and we’ll be freed from the yoke of Obamacare.” She added, “I believe that’s going to happen and we saw step one last week with the repeal of Obamacare in the House. We have two more steps. We serve a mighty God and I believe it can happen.” http://thinkprogress.org/health/2013/05/22/2048161/bachmann-god-obamacare-repeal/

@DCGoldPants
Part of me thinks this investigation into her campaign and moving money around is going to come back bad for her....which is going to be great for her in the eyes of fans. As far as rising so high. She knows her followers are dumb, she plays to that. If the MOST liberal people here at ES started a radio show where they pretended to be hardcore Tea party folks (not kidding like Colbert), I bet they could do a better job than some of the people who really believe in it. Why do you think Glen Beck had done so well? He saw the scam and ran with it. Just say what you say. Don't ever acknowledge that its been tried before. If asked why it didn't work before, call the person a socialist....and move on.
