The Negan entrance was great. Awesome scene at the end.

Other then that this entire season kinda feels like I'm watching a continuous string of people getting held at gun-point over and over just waiting to see who is going to miraculously come from out of nowhere and pull their own gun on the situation.

So, I've always been pretty salty about that Talking Dead show. There isn't even a commercial break, they just immediately scoop you out of all the suspense they put you in and take you behind the scenes. People have been waiting a long time for Negan, they tease his appearance all season, and five seconds later, he's sitting on a couch with his legs crossed talking about how they shot the scene (I'm assuming). I mean what the hell?

So, if you're going to go that way with the show, you know, kill the suspension of disbelief and all, then don't do such massive cliffhangers. Like Carol said: "you don't get both!" lol.

Not to mention the comic thing. Whether you read them or not, you've probably heard of this scene and who dies. They have strayed from the comic in ways, but if you're going to do THIS scene from the comic, just freaking do it. Pretty weak.

Yeah I normally don't watch Talking Dead for that reason: it kinda kills the way I see the characters. I watched it for a little bit last night and it was weird seeing Darryl actually dress respectably. And when you hear the actor speak, he's actually a really smart and well spoken guy. And the guy who plays Negan is like the nicest and most chill guy ever. I'll probably never watch it again, it would ruin the characters.

The ending is much better storytelling to me than showing who was whacked and making that the seminal focus aft the end. They keep the attention of the audience (regarding what's known) on the major points of the episode while showing clearly which characters are actually on the line.

I think your reasoning is sound (I read all your subsequent posts) but...

He makes the Governor look like Mr. Rogers. Seriously.

The only thing that stays constant between the comic and show is the method or circumstance that characters are killed. Probably 90% of the character deaths we've seen have been a different person in the comic.

Nope.

In case you missed it, I was joking.

Carole with a belly wound that needs stitches and two slugs in the arm and no doctor at Alexandria....It's a good thing she and Morgan ran into the body armor good guys.

Or is it?

Yes, it is.

Or is it?

Yes, it is.

Or is it?

Yes, it is.

Or is it?

Yes, it is.

Did you seriously click on all of these?

So how are they supposed to advertise season 7? What kind of promos are they going to do? Will they bring the entire cast to comic con anyway just to throw people off the trail? Will ever promo simply show Rick only, whom we can all assume is safe.

There are so many problems that come up with this dumb cliffhanger. Still mad ugh

Because that's not good TV.

That said, this is straining belief. It's one thing to establish a foe as formidable to make the victory sweeter for our heroes, but I can't help thinking this is a step too far. I find myself not wondering how they'll get out of the situation, but whether there's even a plausible way out. In other words, when they finally overcome this (and clearly they'll have to for the show to keep running) will it be the least bit believable?

Come on now Carol survived and is still out there. I think she has had her come to Jesus moment will now get back to old self and therefore Negan is toast.

Last time she drifted away Rick and the gang got captured.  Carol came back like the spirit of vengeance and saved the day.  This time Rick went and turned his entire group in Negen's slaves (and got someone killed).  Where is carol?  Establishing connections with the local chapter of armored friendlies.

It's really all about Carol.  The entire series.  We've seen her go from an abused apologetic victim to a hardened killer.  From a mother grieving at the loss of her child to one willing to kill a child in cold blood.  From an exiled murderer to a hero.  Now Carol quests for her soul with the help of a man that's already walked down that path.

Well that post was written while they were still in drive around the countryside mode and before we met Carol's knights in shining armor. Once it became clear that they were going to have to work for Negan it made more sense.  Still, it seems unlikely in the long run that they could actually overthrow a group as large as Negan's without lots of assistance.

But again I haven't read the comics, so I'm basically blathering on about a storyline that has already advanced.

Hell, what you said makes sense to me, Fitzy.  Rick's ego won't allow him to give some asshole half their stuff, and there's no way they can fight Negan's army, unless those armor dudes have numbers and are 'bout the life.

If they all survive outside of the one who got Bambino'd, all I can see them doing is packing their **** and leaving Alexandria.  After the sheer terror and shock has worn off from the bludgeoning, Rick will eat the biggest slice of humble pie that's ever been served in the ZA.  He won't want that wreck with Negan, unless the combat armor ddues are that deep to where they'd have a chance.

I hope it's Carl or Michonne or someone that wouldn't be painfully obvious. Again, nearly a year from now, I probably won't care as much.

Ok given than Negan seems to be creating vassals and controlling them that leads to certain of the choices being eliminated.

Rick is the leader that Negan wants to use so he's safe.

Negan knows Carl is his son so he will be taken as a hostage - he is safe (for now)

Negan saw Glen jumping out at the threat to Maggie so he'll keep both alive and keep Maggie as a hostage.

So you can all eliminate those four as possibilities for the one that was killed.

My money is on Tasha or Abe given their dialogue in the Van (Although that may be too obvious)

Second guess would be Rosita as I she wasn't really a focus when on their knees (almost like they wanted the audience to forget about her).

They will likely send the group back(minus Maggie and Carl) with escorts and orders for Rick to kill one of his own in Alexandria.

(BTW I think Dwight is controlled by having his love interest as a hostage- I also think he wounded Darryl to eliminate him as a option for execution and may have been trying to do that when he killed Denise) I think Darrly is safe for this reason but have less evidence for that compared to the other four.

Safe: Aaron, Sasha, Eugene, Rosita - not big enough impact

Safe: Maggie - No chance this show has the stones to bludgeon an already sick pregnant woman to death

Safe: Rick, Arl - this is their show. And Negan dialogue exudes them

On the block: Daryl, Glenn, Michonne, Abe

........

Conclusion: It's Abe

I think its Abraham or Darryl. I think they want to keep Glenn alive for the Glenn/Maggie/baby storyline. Like someone said, one of the chicks or Aaron dying just wouldn't make enough of an impact. It's not Carl because of Negan's dialogue. Rick is the main character, he won't die. So its gotta be one of those two.

Like I said, we'll see how Norman Reedus's new show does. If it sucks, he'll be back, and RIP Abraham.

First, let me say that I never post in this thread because I never come over to the Tailgate side, but I am a HUGE TWD fan, and have been there since the beginning (and recapped many of times on Netflix :) ).

For many of the reasons quoted above, I really think it was Abe who took on Lucille.  I know what happens in the comics, but the show has never stuck to the path of the comics.  Sure there are parallels, but there are major differences as well.  Negan's the type of guy that wants to send a clear message about his power, and killing a woman when he has several powerful men in front of him doesn't convey that message.  We also know from Negan's dialogue right before he started swinging that Carl and Rick were not the one's he was going after.  I think that Glenn's outburst showed Negan that he has a huge Achilles heel, which makes him more controllable and easier to manipulate, something Negan would not easily throw away.  Daryl is wounded, not the tough guy image that would help Negan's message; plus, I think that Negan would save that kill for Dwight.  Neither Aaron nor Eugene offer the same physical threat that Abe does, and Negan's message is very prison mentality-style based.  So, if I had to guess, which is all any of us can do until October, I'd go with Abe being done.

As far as Norman's new show, it is airing on AMC this summer, meaning it will already have concluded shooting prior to when TWD season 7 shooting starts.  Norman having a side show doesn't mean that he can't do both, especially on the same network.  Just my two cents.

I have mixed emotions about this episode, but think that Andrew Lincoln was phenomenal.  I mean, he really is a great actor, but his performance was incredible in this episode.  I am disappointed they left us hanging the way they did, but I can understand it.  It was not necessary, that's for sure.  No one watching that episode was thinking they weren't tuning in come October, but now they have to because they don't know who died.  All I know is that season 7 should be intense. Hopefully, the Hilltop, the Kingdom, and Alexandria will team up and put Lucille where it belongs.
