daveakl
Usually it's smart to kick a field goal on third down in such a situation, because if a hold is bobbled or something you have one more down to try again. Usually teams have consistent kickers.
Hubbs
When the Rams scored their go-ahead touchdown against the Titans in the Super Bowl, Jeff Fisher was screaming from the sidelines to let them score so Tennessee would have time to mount a final drive. Basically the same scenario as in the OP.
wildbill1952
I've seen the safety knock the ball down rather than intercept on 4th down. On third down, I'm thinking it would be awful tough for a safety to pass up an interception. But then, if the safety is so wide open, doesn't that give him a chance for a great runback? Still, no punter with a lead, it would have to be something to think about. But I don't know how good the WR's and TE's and RB's (the only ones legally allowed downfield on the pass play) are at tackling. It would have to factor in. ACW
Like that jacksonville game where the safety knocked it down, right into the reciever's hands. That was funny Gus Johnson JTV-uUkXTbw
