Reaganaut
I watched the game last night in entirety, and Shockey was invisible. Was this because he was taken out of the game by Dallas, and if so how did they do it?
G.Smitty
Didn't you see the game last night? His hand was hurting. right... After last night's performance it seems the best way to shut him down is to bait him into calling Spurrier a 'homo'. It seems one safe way to shut down the Giants in the redzone is to just leave Shockey wide open and allow it bounce off his hands.
Riggo-toni
Shockey is a very streaky player. Looks incredible one game, and like a scrub the next. As I recall, he bruned us pretty badly last year. We'd better hope Lavar gives him a solid hit to throw him off. I'm actually more worried about him than I am Toomer, since I trust Champ to shut Amani down.
Kilmer17
Someone please tell me why a guy with 3 TDs in 18 games gets the hype and press that he does? We faced a better TE last weekend.
gridironmike
Really, he can catch 20 balls if we hold Barber to 50/60 yards and hold the Giants to field goals.
11Arrington56
Hopefully he doesn't show up for our game, though I am still waiting for the day Arrington spoon feeds that loud mouth a scoop of Fed Ex field. Madden's comment about how everyone would love to have him left me wondering if I was alone in thinking he is the biggest distraction on the planet. I am just feeling real confident about handing the Giants a major whoopin after watching last night. Three rookie o-lineman + Smith and Arrington coming off the ends= a bad day for Kerry. Being a Penn State guy I hope Lavar has the courtesy of telling Kerry to at least pack the rib protector.
Om
From what I can tell, the best way to shut him down may be to leave him uncovered and let the ball hit him in the hands.

shawn
he mostly stayed in to block early in the game and never really got to the flow of the game and when they did try to run him out on passes later in the game, they had sort of a spy on him. GURU
I hate Shockey, but I got him on my fantasy team. I thought the Giants would use him more in the red zone this year. They did last night, but he dropped a sure TD pass and got outmuscled on pass for a two-point conversion (although he was interfered with). I lost my fantasy game because of that drop, the homo. Sometimes I hate fantasy ball because of situations just like this. So I guess I hope he gets some catches and scores a TD that's not the difference in the ball game--sort of like what Crumpler did Sunday. As much as I'd love to see LaVar put a hellacious hit on the big-mouth, I can't afford to lose the turd for the season.
Om
At the risk of saying something that could even remotely be construed as not anti-Dallas enough ... I thought the PI call on Roy Williams on the second 2 points attempt was pure crap. Let the damn guys play, already.
RTerps2002
Do you know how many td's Coles had after 20 games? 0 Keep hatting on my Miami boy.... Shockey is the best TE in the NFL
Kilmer17
Youre high. The stats show otherwise. Coles wasnt being touted as the best WR after 20 games the way the media hypes Shockey. We faced a better TE last weekend. But if you have stats to show otherwise, please feel free to post them.

IronMike
Please, let's give some credit where credit is due. Dexter Coakley appeared to be doing a fine job of covering the TE, several times when I saw the camera focus on him. Of course it helps to drop a pass right in your hands.
AlexRS
I agree with Om, that pass interference call was crap. However, there were 2 flags flying... I was suprised. By the way, did anyone notice a non-call during the Falcons game? I cannot remember the guy, but he was holding Champ around the 2-5 yard line which allowed Atlanta to score. I think it was the first or the second touchdown. One more thing. If skins keep playing like they did in Atlanta - I'm going to have a heart attack by the end of the season. Darth Tater
Crumpler was pretty much shutdown when the Falcon's no longer presented a serious running threat. Shockey disappeared last night especially once there was no run threat. TEs can have some of their greatest effect when the LBs are not in the passing lanes because their looking for the run or blitzing to get pressure on the QB and the Safties are stuck with multiple responsibilities. Yes, Shockey caught a lot of balls on us last year. Most were when he sat down in the seams of zones or 5-6 yard routes were he was able to use his 250+ pounds to outmatch the saftey for an additional 3 or 4. When you're 3-7, a 5 yard pass with a 3 or 4 yard run is a first down. This year, we've been able to get our people into position so that the YAC is minimized. To shutdown Shockey (actually, just minimize his presence), the Giants cannot have success on first down.

AlexRS
Reaganaut - man, thanks! I thought I was the only one. He got Champ's shirt.
