Sticksboi05
The greatest gaming franchise of all-time has spawned out some of the best games ever made and THE most important game to the video game industry Super Mario Bros. But which game is the best? This only counts the main series so Super Mario RPG is not included as great as it is.
Skins_Fan82
The original was amazing. 2 was fun, with the glowing jumps 3 was cool with the different suits that gave you abilities (frog suit could swim, racoon could fly, etc) I might have to go with the super nintendo one though. Riding Yoshi was awesome.
HBnotBlades
I'd have to go with the original Super Mario. It created the series, redefined how a side scrolling game should play, and has become so ingrained in pop culture that people who have never even played video games would recognize the Super Mario theme song. SonOfWashington
No Paper Mario, Mario Party, Mario Kart, etc.? Regardless, SM64 is my favorite. Easily my childhood defining game. SMB3 and SMW are also favorites.
Forehead
I went with Super Mario 3. The leap that game made from Super Mario 2 was incredible, the worlds were varied and interesting. I do also like Super Mario World for the SNES, but Super Mario 3 takes it for me. ---------- Post added September-2nd-2011 at 11:23 AM ---------- Also, isn't there a Super Mario Brothers game for the Wii, that isn't Galaxy. In the Red Box? I'd swear I own this.
ACW
Sticks AND SoW you forgot Mario Land. Too tough to decide, but Mario 3 had the best power-up:
PokerPacker
personally, I wouldn't include Yoshi's Island on the list because its really a yoshi game rather than a Mario game. Missing from the list are New Super Mario Bros Wii and all the handheld games. all that aside, I'll take Super Mario World. So many hidden exits, branching overworld map, star world, Yoshi... and who could forget the Special world with levels such as Gnarly and Tubular? DeaconTheVillain
I'm really torn between Super Mario World and Super Mario 3. I think 3 is gonna get my vote.. ---------- Post added September-2nd-2011 at 11:38 AM ---------- BTW Zelda > Mario
Stugein
It's SMW on the SNES and it shouldn't even be close.

Spaceman Spiff
It's Mario 3 or Mario 64. I voted for 3 because I have more memories from it. 64 was great but if I had to pick up a Mario game today it'd be SMB3. Mario 1 is a close 3rd. You can play multiple players at the same time as well and bounce off each other and throw each other. Real fun game. I voted SM64. It was so in-depth, such a long, involving game, and it was such a big leap forward from the traditional games. 3 and SNES are both real close 2nds tho. grhqofb5
Super Mario III was a cultural phenomenon. I still have nightmares about that guy Lucas from "The Wizard." He was so bad with the powerglove. BTW- You may have forgotten about the granddaddy of them all "Mario Brothers." I think it may have started on Atari, but I know there was as NES version too. Pre- SMB.

thebluefood
Found a website about a year ago called Virtual NES that allows you to play old NES games. It was there that I got my first taste of Super Mario 3. I'm not really into video games, but for about 3 months, that game was my obsession. Destructis
The original Donkey Kong arcade machine. Probably my second favorite arcade ever next to Gauntlet. I blew a ton of quarters in both of them.

Yeah, the handheld's are not in this because some of them are just re-makes and it's easier to just stick to consoles. But I did forget Super Mario Bros. Wii - blast! Not that it has any business next to the legendary games on here though. Good, not great.
