Well hell you certainly don't expect me to argue the right ain't hypocrites and the left don't embrace their enablers do ya?

Both certainly wish to impose their will.

Gonna get even more interesting as Far East intellectualism contrasts with the West

Under the govt trend it does however impose the experts opinion into law and regulation more and more.....their claim of being right matters in peoples lives daily

Thus explaining huge amounts of money being spent on the deliberate campaign to make expertise and education into evil characteristics.

On second thought....screw it....trying to talk sense to Liberal defenders is like trying to tell a brick to jump.

Whatever...apparently you want to allow the Tea Party candidates to act like spoiled immature children calling people any name in the book, but then when the roles are reversed go crying. It's like a school yard bully who gets his butt beaten and then he cries to the teacher that he's getting picked on.

If you dish it out...be prepared to take it, and stop being babies.

Ignorance is the new educational ideal. Where else but America can you hope for the best for your children, good grades in school, good education, a masters degree or a doctorate only to find that after they have achieved the American educational dream that they are now the elitist oppressors of the "real Americans".

Tea Party line: "Kids work hard, go to school, study and get good grades, go to a good college and then when you do we're gonna blame you for everything." :applause:

Whereas with the Libs in charge you hope for the best for your children, good grades in school, good education, a masters degree or a doctorate only to find that after they have achieved the American educational dream that they are now unemployed or on the govt tit.

experts are rapidly gaining similar unfavorable status as lawyers have, simply because of the outsized influence....despite both being invaluable

The problem is the anti-intellectual movement in the right isn't coming as a push back that the government is over stepping its bounds, which has negatives and is a more subtle and difficult argument to make, but that the experts are WRONG and are corrupt, unethical and frequently said to be part of some larger conspiracy.

Some experts are(on both sides of a issue).,but then people wish to equate agreement on a portion of a theory to full endorsement, which tends to further confuse the issue.

When you wish to play with peoples lives and fortunes things get heated....the age old problem of when academic exercises are being applied to real life there are real consequences

It is no longer academic

Glad I wasn't the only one who saw that the immediate response to my statement was to prove my statement correct.

BTW, the idea that "academic" things aren't applicable in the real world is an absurd myth perpetrated by the this very same anti-intellectual movement. Every philosophy, economic approach, governmental system begins and is firmly rooted in the academy. Anti-intellectuals would have to whole world seeking out barbershop doctors of the Wild West because the doctors with college degrees from the academy are elitists who are not to be trusted and their "academic" educations do not work in the "real world" where "real people" live.

When I was a kid, I was trying to build a dog house, My brother in-law helped us, by whipping out his Geometry and blowing us away. Will never forget that. I soon learned that education is integral to success in the real world.

I'll never understand how good people like you are duped into following the elitist fanboys of the "academy" like your brother in law.

LOL! Education is the sworn, mortal enemy of close-minded ignorance.

Back to the thread, I belong to a very conservative site and people are DEMANDING that Obama apologize! The nerve! I can't freaking believe it, the obnoxious, overbearing tea party can't deal!

There is quite a difference between applicable and application, ask a engineer about designers:)

Well, then we should just go straight to the engineers and by-pass the designers......oh wait that won't work because the engineers apply the design. No matter how much the engineers complain about the designers it is because of the designers that the engineer even knows what to build, so stop this whole nonsense.

Nonsense is right....how much of the design has to be changed to be practical?

Are costs relevant to anything ?

Keep pimping the Reps are anti-intellectual....I'll keep pimping the Dems ignore reality and cost

The Right and some tea party folks are very, very thin-skinned, especially when you consider the ad hominems they level at others. They apparently believe they are untouchable, which is arrogant and partially due to their religious-like fervor in their political beliefs, leading them to believe they are they true "chosen ones."

Well considering we're talking about the Tea Party specifically I'll take your attempt to falsely apply what I said to all Republicans as a limp diversionary tactic.

The Republicans ARE anti-intellectual, as evident by their anti-science stance and their constant attacks against professors and other educators. This is especially evident by their media branch, aka Fox News, which espouses a "race to the bottom" sort of philosophy, where "the gut" is championed over knowledge or information.
