KABUL, Afghanistan — A NATO helicopter crash in Afghanistan on Saturday killing 31 U.S. special-forces troops, including more than 20 Navy SEALS from the unit that killed Osama bin Laden, and 7 Afghan commandos.

It was the deadliest single combat incident for American troops in 10 years of war, according to an American official.

The operators from SEAL Team Six were flown by a crew of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regimen, according to U.S. officials who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because families are still being notified of the loss of their loved ones.

One source said the team was thought to include 22 SEALs, three Air Force air controllers, seven Afghan Army troops, a dog and his handler, and a civilian interpreter, plus the helicopter crew.

The sources thought this was the largest single loss of life ever for SEAL Team Six, known as the Naval Special Warfare Development Group.

Something just tells me this is not a coincidence.

They kill Bin Ladin, bury him at sea before they tell anyone about it,

don't show any pics or video proving it and now most of the team that did it suddenly dies

hmmmmmmmmm ok

Really? That's where you are taking this? God save us from conspiracy theory morons.

Those brave souls deserve our respect, admiration and thanks. RIP.

Thats good to know, but still a little something funky about it.

Does seem like a lot of seals killed in one attack and kind of coincidental.

On the other hand, maybe they're going to have their deaths faked to put them in hiding or undercover....

Probably not though.

In any case, my heart goes out to the families of the ones who died in the crash.

I think it's Obama, getting rid of people who might try to stop him from taking credit for killing Ossama personally, when the election rolls around.

[/sarcasm], for the clue challenged

You mean members of our counterterrorist SEAL team killed Osama? And members of our counterterrorist SEAL team were killed an an anti-terrorist operation? Surely this is proof of a conspiracy, which the Sheeple will all deny. :doh1:

It's just an obviously very dangerous area and nothing more. This is the 2nd Chinook filled with SEALs shot down in Afghanistan. The previous one was a QRF force sent to rescue SEAL Marcus Luttrell and his team from the book Lone Survivor. The Navy SEALs have suffered very high casualties in Afghanistan - very high.

There is no report that most of the team/platoon that killed him died, just that these guys are from the same Seal Team. There were 23 Seals in the assault force that killed Osama, there are 300 men in a Seal team.

That is the word I hear as well....thoughts and prayers to the family and friends that wait and that have been notified....and those recovering the remains

I didn't post a thread this morning to avoid the inevitable idiocy.

Was up aorund 4 a.m on the west coast and heard this---another reminder of just how much in harm's way they all are, and some even far more than others. To echo what Mike said, they deserve our eternal gratitude and prayers if you pray or best thoughts if you don't, both to them and their loved ones.
