Hotchilidog
There is just something about Beck that intrigues me. I don't recall ever see a player really WANT to take his chance to play as much as Beck has in the offseason. If he has nothing else, he has real desire and a willingness to do what it takes to get that starting spot. I really want to see him have a go, I have absolutely no idea how he'll do, but it at least adds some interest to the preseason games.
justice98
If he's terrible right outta the gate, all hell's gonna break loose. He might not make it outta the preseason as the starter.
GaryGreenMonk
I think some people are confused... NO ONE has questioned his arm strength or distance... it's his deep accuracy that is a problem.
THE GREAT I AM
Wrong.Shanny will be fine. Bruce is running this ship, not Dan. Dan wasn't even in town, let alone the Park during last weekend when FA kicked off. And Dan knows it's going to take more then 2 years, one of which was shortened by a lockout, to clean up the mess he & Vinny made over the years. If our record is worst than last year and we are not competitive in the games Shanny's tenure as coach of the Redskins will be over.
DRSmith
I am surprised given teh qbs Denver has there has not been more talk here of trying to get one of them other than Orten who is looking more and more like a lock to stay

Rudechain
If our record is worst than last year and we are not competitive in the games Shanny's tenure as coach of the Redskins will be over. A lot of big IFS there. so far you seem to be the ONLY ONE proclaiming that Shanny's tenure will end and you have stated if the record is worse and now if they are not competitive. Ok, so is this a moving target, or is there actually something tangible that you can stake this claim on? Not rumors, innuendo or the one legged gypsy in the back room. Actual tangible and credible proof that Shanny is on the hot seat. What makes you think this team won't be competitive? What makes you think that the coaching staff would allow for guys to not play hard when that has been a primary focus Shanny has been trying to change the culture of this franchise? Nah, I think your just blowing smoke.
Going Commando
I think some people are confused...NO ONE has questioned his arm strength or distance... it's his deep accuracy that is a problem. I think judging his ability to hit deep passes based on a few player workouts is a bad idea. You're going to end up making mountains out of molehills. Completing deep passes is about timing first and foremost. Chemistry between the passer and the receiver is so important. It takes time and lots of repetition to build that seamless timing, and that's just not something a QB is going to have at informal player workouts at the start of the offseason, much less a new QB throwing to new receivers. mr_apropos
In summation: great guy, great leadership, accurate short to medium pass, TERRIBLE DEEP BALL. That #16 guys out in 49er-land had a so-so arm. It worked out okay for him... right? I thought the West Coast Offense was all about the short pass and yards after the catch?? Nate4789
I really really don't think they could be worse than 6-10, i already see a few games on their schedule that our very winnable, even with last year's team. Plus, i think they will be competitive.. However, i don't think they're gonna have a terrific record because they do have some tough games (eggles, giants, cowgirls each twice in addition to the jets and pats)
IamRobG
After watching the video's i can honestly say...i've seen worse. I've seen better as well but i've definitely seen worse. Give the guy a chance, whats the worst that happens, we suck again? At least we're rebuilding and not just going for a quick solution. Patience. monkeezgob
It's simple enough. If Beck had great arm strength and great accuracy to go with it then he'd have been starting for another team a long time ago and the issue wouldn't even be a debate. Either his arm strength or his accuracy are clearly an issue. maybe one, or maybe both. I would be amazed if Beck beat out Grossman in camp. PorkSkins
Obviously the best is yet to be seen. At first I didn't like the choice but I'm kind of coming around to liking Beck. He has a lot to prove but he's willing to put in the time. Grossman on the other hand is what you see is what you get. The real question is how will the line perform and can we run the ball? We haven't won many games when we are rushing under 75 yards total. As far as arm strength is concerned, If he can throw past the chains, then that will be enough for another set of downs. SauzzBozz
only time will tell with this. 2 days in and I am sure that he is going to improve. As some have mentioned previously, if during the preseason this doesnt happen, then I think there is plausible cause to worry.
OuterBanksTarHeel
someone is confused. his arm strength has absolutely been questioned. There was actually a lot of concern about his arm strength coming out of college, and the only video evidence people cite to argue the opposite is some hail mary throw where he gets a running start. I would say that his arm strength is average, but that people are concerned about his sidearm-ish delivery which gets connected somehow with arm strength. Skadden
Beck's draft video makes it clear that he does have more than the noodle arm he's supposedly got. The deep out is a key pass pattern which demonstrates that you've an NFL ready arm. Of course, if he can't somehow show that off when it comes to brass tacks, he's gonna have huge problems. PigSkinRodeo
Its an embarassment that we are forced to support this guy. Great guy I am sure but he isnt even a career backup. He is training camp fodder that should be going from team to team hoping to get a paycheck on a practice squad.Hope I am wrong. It just makes it more apparent that this "mgmt" has totally ignored the QB position after making one of the stupidest Win Now moves ever last year - which set the team back another couple of years. But heck, I get it... they have "changed" the organization... Hate to break it to you USS but NO one is forcing you to be a Redskins fan either. You can always walk through the door like many others should do or should of done a long time ago. 90 % of the people in this forum do nothing but complain before any real games get played or what any player can show they can do. Lets wait till preseaon to be over before you whine. Doesn't help most players didn't have OTA minicamp and Etc.. So maybe you should take that in consideration. You guys cry we need to do this and when we do that you complain for once you guys should just shut up and say hey.. Finally were rebuilding were going younger be happy and lets build from that.. I rather have all the other holes filled with young players and great depth just waiting for the last piece in franchise QB then to have a franchise QB and no depth and older players.. Common sense HTTR
