PokerPacker
Jason Schwartzman - He makes great music and is a solid comedic actor, yet I'd be hard pressed to find somebody who even recognizes his name. I know him because of Bored To Death. After watching that, I've been noticing him in other things.
Jumbo
Mark Knopfler--though not among fellow musicians (i.e. Chet Atkins & Eric Clapton have both called him their favorite guitarist). Aside his amazing guitar work, his arrangement's (and that's what they are even prior to his movie scores) on Making Movies, Love Over Gold, and Brothers In Arms are superb. His lyrics are often outstanding, from the first Dire Straits album (self-titled) to On Every Street (last Dire Straits album). In later years he's mellowed a lot and while still in high demand for collaborative work with many top performers, he doesn't rock or write like he used to, but is still a very accomplished pro. RVAbrendan
Tom Waits - Musician, Songwriter, Actor, Poet. Has been making incredible music for 35+ years. Dylan loved him, the Eagles, Ramones, and Rod Stewart covered him (amongst many others).

G.A.C.O.L.B.
Walter Johnson. Whenever people get to talking about great pitchers, you'll hear about Roger Clemens, Pedro Martinez, Bob Gibson and even Babe Ruth. Johnson was considered the best in an era when pitchers ruled. Even after the dead ball era, he could deal. Three times after 1920, he lead the Majors in strikeouts and let's not forget his incredible 1924 seasons when he went 24-7, lead the majors in ERA, and pitched 6 shutouts (also leading the majors). What's really upsetting to me is how often he's forgotten by Washington sports fans. You'll hear this and that about Sammy Baugh, John Riggins, Sonny Jurgensen, Art Monk and other great Redskins. Johnson, though, is arguably the greatest athlete to come from a DC team. I see Walter Johnson mentioned all the time. I've seen him called the GOAT several times. Now Christy Mathewson, he gets no respect.

grhqofb5
Jim Thome. Approaching 600 HRs without testing positive for steriods (and never legitimately accused or mentioned in any reports). Also, Fred McGriff. 493 career HRs, easily enough to gain entry to the hall prior to the steriods era. Perhaps the voters will gain a better perpective on him over the next few years, as the dust settles.
