I saw Jane's for the first time at the inaugural Lollapalooza (1991) and looking back, the whole lineup, and that event, was fairly phenomenal. They burned brightly and faded fast as a band but Nothing's Shocking and Ritual are still cds that hold up very well over time.

Jane's Addiction has always been my favorite band. I was so into them I even bought and became a fan of every project any of them did. Deconstruction, Porno for Pyros, etc.

I've seen most of the different versions of Jane's. NOTHING is better than the original. Closest was the reunion of the original lineup with bassist Eric Avery from 2 years ago. They toured with NIN and it was incredible. Avery is the man. Deepest, most solid grooves and the basslines are unforgettable.

Seeing Jane's with Flea on bass was really incredible as well.

Perry has become a shadow of himself though. Just seems like a complete knucklehead raver now-a-days and his voice is pretty much shot. And his wife has no business being anywhere near that band. She is the Yoko of the modern day, a title she hates.

I agree that his voice is shot, almost completely in fact. He tries singing the old stuff differently I believe to get around this fact. I have some friends who've met him and said he's actually a really down to Earth guy and totally approachable. He gets major props from me for being passionate about surfing but I suppose that's a bit off topic.
