Roster talk: Predict the 2011 starting lineup.

Hey guys. I think the title is self-explanatory. What will our 2011 starting line-up be? What free agents do you expect us to bring in? What rookies start? Who keeps their jobs? Who loses their jobs? Which vets come back?

Grossman or Beck (or someone else)? Helu or Torrain? Does Brown come back at LT, or do we bring in a FA? Does Moss return? Who starts at TE?

What about the defense? There are a lot of question marks there too, with the rookies coming in, Haynesworth heading out, and a hole at CB.

When it is all said and done, who will take the field for the Washington Redskins in 2011?

Here are my predictions:

Offense:

QB: Rex Grossman. Grossman will re-sign. Beck will back him up.

RB: Helu will start. Torrain and Royster compete to back him up.

WR1: Moss will be back. He is coming off a career year and wants to be here.

WR2: Anthony Armstrong keeps his job. (Hankerson will be used in 3 wide sets, with Moss playing the slot).

TE: Still Chris Cooley over Fred Davis, but Davis gets some PT.

LT: Trent

LG: Lichtensteiger

C: Remains Rabach, despite fans clamoring for his head. Call it a hunch.

RG: Montgomery

RT: Brown is out. We sign free agent Ryan Harris, who Shanny drafted in Denver. (edit: thanks guys!)

Defense:

FS: Otogwe takes over, of course.

SS: Landry.

ROLB: Kerrigan steps in right away.

RILB: McIntosh does not come back. Either Riley or a FA.

LILB: Fletch.

LOLB: Orakpo.

RDE: Jenkins steps in right away.

LDE: Carriker.

KR: Brandon Banks comes back. Shanny likes him.

Here are my three questions marks:

CB: Of course Deangelo Halls has one spot, but who gets the other? Do we re-sign Rogers, pick up a FA, or stick with what we have?

NT: Who plays NT? Hopefully not Haynesworth, but who? Will Chris Nield be able to start? Do we go with Anthony Bryant? Kemoeatu? Maybe a free agent?

K: Do we really stick with Gano? Count me as skeptical about him.

I have no idea about CB, NT, or K at the moment. I think those positions need to be addressed somehow for sure. But how?

Who's Ryan Candy? :ols:

Typo fixed. Thanks for that. I meant Ryan Clady

And where's your defense predictions!? ;)

Okay. Edited. I left off a lot of positions that will be the same as last season, maybe not a good idea I guess.

hes not a FA..

Right you are. I stand corrected. Again. I was thinking of Denver RT (and Shanny draft pick) Ryan Harris, who is a free agent. Not Denver LT Ryan Clady.

Apparently I'm not very good at names today. In my defense both of their tackles are named Ryan, kinda confusing. :ols:

Maybe also a little subliminal wishful thinking on my part, since Clady is really good. ;)

Anyway, post edited. I need to be more careful about this stuff. You guys are like hawks.

Younger = better on ES in most cases it seems. Both have injury problems, but I think Brown is the better overall RT too.

Anybody but Heyer

I wouldn't go that far, but youth is certainly a factor that needs to be taken into consideration. If two players are relatively equal in all other fields, obviously you take the younger one.

I'd agree here that Brown might be slightly better than Harris, but he's yet to show that he can get back to form since his hip injury. In addition to that it's been said more than once that Brown wants to be a starting LT somewhere so he can get LT money.

All in all, Harris seems like the right move.

QB Grossman, Beck, Clausen

RB Helu, Royster, K. Williams

FB/TE Cooley

TE Davis, Paulson

WR S. Moss, Hankerson, Paul, Kelly, James Jones, Banks

LT T. Williams

LG Lichtensteiger

C Rabach eventually giving way to Erik Cook

RG Montgomery

RT Ryan Harris

I like this except I don't see us getting a FA Wr and bringing back Moss. I'm with you - I'd like to see Cook or Montgomery take over the C spot, although I've never understood the hatred for Rabach. I get the frustration, just not the hatred.

I would throw up if this is our roster. Ensures us 6-10 to 9-7 mediocrity forever
