pointyfootball
Rugby then soccer then NFL. Played rugby/soccer for many years. Watching them is a lot of fun due to their nonstop nature. WRT soccer, can't stand to watch MLS on TV...needs to be top-level clubs from Europe or WC.
Elessar78
For me it's obviously soccer. I played it growing up, still play it. Like PF above, it's a struggle to watch MLS on TV but it's actually pretty great in person. I do LOVE watching Rugby and Hurling. Great sports to watch! I have no idea what is going on either sport or what the rules are, but just the rhythm and speed of Rugby is amazing to watch.
Metalhead
Bluefood summed it up perfectly for me. Baseball is my favorite and always will be. The history and mythology is larger than life, almost god-like. No other sport has that. Basketball is my second favorite due to it's pace and creativity of offenses/picks/rolls, etc. I've lost nearly all interest in football sadly. I've just gotten bored with the crude, barbaric nature of it. The ordered chaos is frustrating as well. The play starts off as designed, but quickly crumbles. Sticksboi05
My favorite sport is baseball. My favorite team is the Redskins. My favorite tournament is March Madness. Gotta love March Madness. It's my favorite tournament except for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

I do love football, but I don't think I share in its disposition. It is a violent, brutal game. Hell, it was almost banned by one of the greatest he-men in United States: President Theodore Roosevelt. Also, going to a football game can be a pain in the ass. Don't get me wrong, I love the atmosphere at a college football game, but following the ball can be damn near impossible. In baseball, you can pretty easily follow the action, even if you have crappy seats. Like I said, the atmosphere at a baseball game is leisurely and friendly. At a football game, everyone seems to be tense and wound up.
Elessar78
In stadium NFL football can be awful. TV timeouts are interminable at home much less at the stadium. College FB is more fun, but the TV timeouts ruin any kind of flow to the game.
TonyRomoProBowl
Rugby then soccer then NFL. Played rugby/soccer for many years. Watching them is a lot of fun due to their nonstop nature. WRT soccer, can't stand to watch MLS on TV...needs to be top-level clubs from Europe or WC. me and my son watched some Rugby yesterday (Sunday 6/5) Rugby Sevens National Title game vs Army and "Big Green" Dartmouth........and without a doubt, those dudes are the toughest sons a ****es i have ever seen. I have seen very few games, some of my wrestlers and football players in High School (where I coach) picked up Rugby to play....and I watched them play.......its a crazy rough and tough sport, and i am truly amazed that with all that hitting going on out there and how rough it is, there just aren't any fights???? Such great respect for each other min that game! big time respect for you, for having played Rugby....good for you man. WOW......that is an intense nonstop game, with all out action and physical-ness, that no sport can match! ---------- Post added June-6th-2011 at 10:51 AM ---------- My favorite sport, and what I think is the toughest sport hands down, is wresting........no one conditions and prepares like a wrestler...... AND the NCAA Wrestling tournament is one of the GREATEST events there is......truly a great event. But having wrestled (sinnce i was 7) and been somewhat successful.....and having 18 years of coaching it (High School level) I am partial to it, however i am entering my 6 year in coaching High School football (2nd paid gig) and now on a varsity staff....Football is the greatest sport there is. To me its the NFL in (watching) and now Football at the High School level...as a coach....there just isnt anything like it! the preparation, the film sturdy, the understanding of the game, and the players.....just makes it an absolutely awesome experience! hockeysc23
Hockey ... football is a close second but I am a Redskins fan not a NFL fan persay. I watch all my teams games but unless it's the playoffs I cannot watch many other teams play. NHL/AHL/Juniors/International basically anytime a hockey game is on I will most likely watch. The intensity, team work, speed, strength, all while on skates? No other sport can top it. Hockey is one of those sports it looks so easy then people try it and realize just how great athletes these guys are.
rdsknbill
Played hockey at a pretty high level years ago. Followed the Caps since their inception. Always been a HUGE Skins fan and was a solid MLB in football. But you know what my answer is. Hard hitting, agility, and not to mention the oldest sport in North America

Hardly anyone I know played it in grade school or HS then all of a sudden driving past fields during weekends seems there are more lacrosse games then baseball. Definitely a sport I've heard is similar to hockey I wish I understood or played when younger.
thebluefood
Had a thought about baseball the other day. I think one of the reasons why it appeals to me is because it's a writer's game. Two of the, arguably, greatest sports writers in Washington Post history (Tom Boswell and Shirley Povich) are/were both avid baseball fans and I can see why. Baseball gives you an opportunity to stop and think about what you've just seen. There's no time to catch your breath and reflect during a football or hockey or basketball game. renaissance
There's no time to catch your breath and reflect during a football or hockey or basketball game. Have you watched a football game lately? 30 minutes of action spread across 4 hours.
E-Dog Night
I like the ancient Mayan ball game where you have to kick a ball through a tiny ring on the side of a wall. Winners were treated like kings, losers were killed. Now that's pressure.

BRAVEONTHEWARPATH93
Baseball. It's what I played all throughout my life. It's so calm yet intense when you're playing or watching. endzone_dave
It's hard to pick between baseball and football but I'll go with baseball. I like basketball, hockey, golf, and lacrosse. I love auto racing: NASCAR, World Rally Championship, and F1 but it's a stretch to call them a sport. I don't care for soccer but I'm sure I could pick it up. The only thing I don't watch at all is college basketball. The talent level is so low compared to the pros.

Whenever baseball season starts, I get extra excited about life for some reason It really is the prefect sport for spring. All winter, we've been inside playing hockey and basketball (which are both excellent sports), not daring to go out into the cold. Then, spring returns, new life emerges and we can go back outside and play ball again.

RichmondRedskin88
Soccer. I love playing it and I love the atmosphere, traditions, badges, etc that goes with it. Even as a Manchester United fan I can straight up respect the traditions of clubs like Liverpool even if we're fierce rivals. Very different from my hating/complete lack of respect toward the Cowboys and Penguins. Don't get me wrong I love my redskins and Caps but soccer will hold a big special part of my heart. Soccer is also the only sport where my name changes for 90 mins because everyone calls me Ronaldo for my #7 LOL
NavyDave
Favorite Sport Football. Played it coached it. soccer is actually more of a therapy for insomnia than a sport. golf after this weekend is definitely not a sport. Unless I can call or text a ref this year and report Orakpo was held on a previous play and the ref penalizes the team.
