Hooper
... if you ever want to sniff a job again anywhere. Seriously, I can't believe how candid he is. I mean, it's not groundbreaking news, but Vinny seems to be proud he made this terrible offer. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/post/the-redskins-once-offered-two-no-1-picks-for-chad-ochocinco/2011/05/25/AGnj6KBH_blog.html
KDawg
“Drew was pushing it hard, Chad was pushing it hard, and you know what, I think it worked out best for the Redskins that it didn’t happen at the time. I think we ended up with Orapko [sic] and somebody else, so I think that worked out well, and Chad has declined quickly.” First off, good editing department... Orapko. And... somebody else... Well done on that one Vinny. You don't even know what you got.
LetThePointsSoar
What a moron. So glad this worthlessness is no longer associated with our proud franchise. The damage bug eyes did to us is long reaching, but we're putting those dark days behind us quickly. Hail.
Goingforburgundy
At least we would of had the number one pick next year to rebuild a worse off franchise
USS Redskins
I dont know which team is more idiotic... the one that offered 2 first round picks or the team that turned down 2 first round picks. Though, the Bengals are notoriously cheap... no way they would want to pay money to two more first round picks than they already had to. If they had a choice, they would likely give away the 1st round pick to save cash.
No_Pressure
I think if that had happened I would have stopped watching the Redskins until Cerrato was fired. I remembered hearing about that trade on here at the time and thinking theres no way anyone in their right mind would give up one 1st rounder much less multiple picks for a 31 year old WR who has been injured. Then hearing it was two 1st rounders I laughed at the impossibility because the Bengals would have to be even dumber than Cerrato is to not take that trade. I guess the moral of the story is you should never underestimate just how stupid people can be.
SkinsHokieFan
And of course Dan Snyder would have gone along and pushed for it. JKC had trouble trading a 1st for Doug Williams thinking the price was too high. There would have been no price too high for Dan and Vinny

How bout the guy who made the offer, was fortunately denied, and then talks about it years later after it has been proven it would have been a disastrous trade? I swear, Vinny is a special kind of an idiot. The fact that Snyder kept him around for so long terrifies me.

Commander PK
Well, there you go. Even more evidence of why Cerrato had to go. What a complete idiot, and I have to agree with USS Redskins. The Bengals are idiots for not taking that offer. Thank god it didn't happen.
LightningBuggs
Bengals aren't the only team that saved Vinny from himself. Bears did as well (Briggs) How he ever got a job in professional football is beyond me.

Rocky21
Here is the original thread discussing the possibility of giving up TWO # 1 picks for Ochocinco and it is filled with cringe-inducing posts like this one. http://www.extremeskins.com/showthread.php?245455-JLC-Ocho-Cinco-Trade-Rejected/page4 2 1st rounders is too muc. However, some of you need to realize that despite being 30 CJ is an elite WR, top 5 in the NFL. This means he is a franchise player, and his value will thus be higher. Randy Moss was NOT a franchise player, and people were wondering if he could even play at a high level anymore when the Raiders were offering him up for a draft pick. This is why Randy Moss went for a 4th. If you tried to trade for Randy Moss now, even with him being around 30, it would probably cost around 2 1sts.2 1sts is too much for any player, IMO, but that is what the value dictates for some of these guys. Chad Johnson is an elite player, durable with very few injuries, and gives it his all on the field. So while 2 1sts is a lot, in this league it isn't a crazy move, the value is there. Also, those who think we are more than one player away aren't understanding what Chad would bring to the table. I think some of you are just allowing your dislike of Snyder and the FO to affect your judgement of the actual team. We were competitive in all but 1 game last season, going toe-to-toe with some of the best teams in the NFL. A lot of our losses came down to the final drive. Our D is solid. Even without a consistent pass-rush we are a top 10 unit. The O needs a spark. We do need O-line depth, but we'd still have had our 2nd, 3rd, etc. to fill that need. The spark would come from CJ. Campbell would have a steady target, and he still has Moss, ARE, and Cooley. That is a dealy receiving corp. You factor in CP is also back there running, and damn if that isn't an offense coaches are going to absolutely hate having to gameplan for. CJ is 30, but could play at a good level until he's 35 given his athleticism and physical conditioning. You draft a rookie, it takes a couple seasons for them to emerge, and then you after that you'll get about 3-4 years of production before that player's contract is up. And even then, WR is one the riskiest positions to draft. In Chad you have a guarantee of production. Again though, I too think 2 1sts is too much for CJ. However, there is logic behind the move, and some of you need to try and understand the methods and reasoning to this kove, actually consider the other side, before simply writing the FO off as a bunch of morons. They've been doing well this offseason otherwise, and they even turned down an offer for Jason Taylor, which should also show the Skins are not interested in just any elite/star player, but that they do have a specific plan with CJ. Feel free to disagree, blast away, whatever.

BeefJerky
Thank the good lord bugeyes is no longer with this franchise. I'm not a big fan of our "GM" playing madden with the skins! Good riddance Vin!
Commander PK
You know I have marinated on this article for a few minutes, and it just makes me completely livid that we ever had an idiot like this in charge of our team. I just can't believe a man that dumb could end up in charge of an NFL team. Maybe we should be thanking the Bengals for saving us from a Vinny move that would have been even more crippling to the franchise than Fat Al. SonnyandSam
The shock news for me was that JLC was apparently correct when he reported the Skins offered 2 #1 picks for Ochocinco. I think most of us thought not even an idiot like Vinnie would do that and JLC was just relying on one of his non-existent "sources".
VaSkinsNut
Vinny is sooooo dumb. Speaking of other NFL franchises saving the Redskins former management from themselves I remember it was actually Mike Shanahan who told Vinny to chill out. (Guess he felt bad for sending us Portis for Bailey and a 2nd rounder) I remember hearing that the skins tried to trade up two spots to get Orakpo and Denver turned us down telling Vinny (don't worry we're not taking him, you'll get your guy). Then we made the pick within 15 seconds of the start of our 10 minute window when he fell into our laps...not even listening to trade down offers. So glad that fool is gone. The simple fact is that I would literally be a better NFL GM than him right now is absolutely terrifying.
