S.T.real,lights,out
I actually think it could be:1. Moss 2. Hankerson 3. Armstrong 4. Kelly 5. Paul 6. Robinson With Banks on the outside looking in. Its not a coincidence that 2/3 WR's we drafted can also excel as returners, while also contributing on offense. I kind if feel the same way. Especially with the new KO rule. Doesn't look like he will be getting as many returns. But i still hope we can turn him into a WR
KDawg
i love all you tards that think banks is getting cut..get real people "Tards"? I think we're in trouble if we go into the season with Armstrong being the only receiver on the team with any real game experience. Either we need to reup Moss for another year or two, or we need to go after a vet. Armstrong, Hankerson, Kelly, Austin, Paul only looks like a good receiving corp to Redskin fans. Everyone else realizes how bad that group is... That said, I think Hank can really develop into being a good receiver. Armstrong can be a good complimentary guy, but not the ace. Kelly hasn't gotten through a season yet. Austin didn't do much in the games he played last year, but he looked decent I guess. Paul/Robinson are completely unknown for us. I think Banks makes the team over Paul/Robinson... They can still go to the PS.

SWFLSkins
I hear everything you are saying, but let's be honest... Was there anyone on the team last year doing his job better than BB? Field position is the most important aspect of the game and Banks provides it nearly every time he touches the ball. You don't allow an elite return man to walk because you have an "adequate" one to replace him... He needs to stop producing or get stabbed at least two more times before you think about releasing my BabyBanks. Are you forgetting about the rules changes and how that affects the return game? I also think that Banks maybe in trouble here with the size of guys they brought in. I am thinking one of three of the smallish guys makes it, and that would be Moss. There is no way they go all young guns on us. ---------- Post added May-18th-2011 at 07:53 AM ---------- Hey, I don't want Banks gone either. I'm just arguing that its possible. If you're Mike Shanahan, you don't draft 3 WR's (2 of which are skilled returners) if you're happy with your depth chart at WR. And who is at the bottom of that depth chart? Austin and Banks. Those guys are in danger if the rookies prove that they can do what they do and more. We'll see what happens, and its not necessarily what I want (though I reserve the right to change that, while watching preseason ). But its very possible. And this is just it, it is indeed possible while not a sure thing there are a number of factors that could make it happen.

Goskinz0721
I think the idea of veterans "mentoring" young guys is a myth. These vets are usually out for themselves and doing everything they can to make sure they're ready to play so they can keep their job. I mean everyone bashed Brett Favre for saying it wasn't his job to mentor Aaron Rodgers but he was just saying what every vet is thinking when they're asked to mentor young guys who are trying to take their jobs. You're assuming all vets are self-centered d-bags like Favre. I seem to recall numerous comments from youngsters regarding P Daniels willingness to help them learn the ropes of playing on the DL. That's 1 of probably many hundreds of vets across the NFL who help the youngsters.

ouvan59
Prince Amukamara was no bum CB in college. Niles Paul must really have confidence in his abilities to be talking about a former college teammate who is now a division rival. This kid just may be a very productive WR for us for years to come. If practice was that important we'd still have Taylor Jacobs.
dswerdlw
I like Paul's attitude --but I like his size and speed more. Let's see. We're in a rebuilding mode. We don't have our QB yet. We should commit to rebuilding by going with the young receivers. Let Moss find his ring with another team. I see us keeping Armstrong, Hankerson, Paul, Robinson, and Banks. Austin and Kelly, if he's eligible, go to the PS.
Always A Commander Never A Captain
Watch what Blackmon did to him: 5 receptions, 157 yds, 2 TD. In fairness to Prince, this has been analyzed, and it's less Prince's fault than just a supreme **** up by Nebraska's safeties. Prince had his assignments then saw he had to bail and go back to man coverage when the safeties just ****ed up.

Tulane Skins Fan
Santana deserves to go with a team that has a shot at making the playoffs. Skins should not re-sign him. While he may be a better WR than the known alternatives he's on the downside of his career and Skins would be better served letting the young guys get experience. We aren't just about to turn the corner here but when we do we want to have relatively young WRs with some playing time under their belts. Time to take the long-term view regardless of how well Santana has played in the past. If I was Santana, all the american money in China wouldn't be enough to get me to re-sign with the 'Skins. I gotta think he's walking.

MATPskins
Best part here: For this interview, we contacted Niles on the number he gave us -he actually didn't answer his phone and we got his voicemail which was kinda awkward. About five minutes later he called back, and said "sorry I was in the middle of a workout." It was 7 freakin 30 at night! Sold! (I wonder what Banks' workout plan is) This HAS to be in the top 3 training camp battles to watch for; because the PR/KR job will most likely be a WR seeing as how our DB's don't fit the bill. Maybe we keep 6 WR's? Not a Banks hater, just want my receiving core to be solid and not just have a guy who's a one trick pony. Now that we have another big 'go up and get it' receiver, Kelly better step his game up. Wow just realized if Santana does not return, Kelly becomes our longest tenured wide out.
MariusVT
The real thing being overlooked about Banks is, how does he bounce back from being stabbed in the chest, collapsed lung, etc in the off season. I'd wager that aside from competition, youth, whatever else has been brought up in this thread was in the back of Shanny's mind when he made those picks. I could see them keeping him as a return specialist easily enough, just as I could that if as a result of what happened in the offseason if he isn't the same or better than last year when things get rolling for him to be shown the door. kubstix
consistent 800-1000 yd seasons, including last year aren't enough eh. As if we have the right to be picky. wtf No need to put words in my mouth. I never said Moss is unproductive or wasn't good. I'll comprehend to you what I mean. We drafted a ton of WR's......Moss is probably 150% not in our plans for next season. He is an aging veteran who will start becoming unproductive and waste roster space for young upcoming talent. I guess you think we are going to the superbowl next year or the year after? Pedro
I like his attitude, fits in with the rest of the draftees. Re: Banks why would we cut him? We finally get a game changing punt returner and people are acting like it's a common ability that you dump at a whim. I for one enjoyed watching punt returns last season, 30 yards to go instead of 80 is game changing. Most teams don't have a guy who can do what Banks does. I don't see the KO rule changes making much difference to his roster spot, he's too small to have been considered a full time KO returner under the old rules anyway. He can be worked into the offensive rotation a little as we saw towards the end of the season, but shouldn't need to be more than an occasional contributor with 4 or 5 other WRs and our TEs as pass catchers plus an increase in passes to the RB under Kyle. Given we've just been through the predictability of the Cartwright/ Randle El years I'm glad Mike isn't putting his eggs in one basket and has drafted some more returning talent too. I'm all for short fields on O so bring 'em in for me.
Mahons21
Are people seriously this down on Banks? The best returner we've had in how long? Gimme a break. Banks is making this team.
Coolio47
I don't. He needs to go. He played with heart in 2005/2006....then JC came aboard and he threw in the towel and started playing for a paycheck and taking plays off. He did us good, but it's time to part ways. 16 GP 16 GS 93 Rec 1,115 Yards 12.0 Avg. 56 Lg 6 TD These season stats are one of the best of his career. 2nd or 3rd best. It was last season. He had similar numbers in 2008.

Always A Commander Never A Captain
Are people seriously this down on Banks? The best returner we've had in how long? Gimme a break. Banks is making this team. Armstrong Kelly Santana Austin (2nd season) Banks (2nd season) Hankerson (rookie) Robinson (rookie) Paul (rookie) How many WR do we keep on our team? 5 or 6? Who stays? Who can help out in more than one area on the team? Who can replace anothers production? It's really not so easy to just say, "Lol, Banks has sexy returns, we'll keep him." He's not going to develop into a real WR for us. So you have to balance current production with building for the future. If we don't want to get completely embarrassed in games, then we need to have Armstrong and Moss back. Austin projects well as a future replacement for Moss as a slot guy. Hankerson will probably be in the rotation immediately. That's 4. So what do you do about Kelly/Robinson/Paul/Banks for the last 1 or 2 spots? Botched
All I want is for one of our young WRs to become an actual NFL starter. And not 5 years from now. This season. Every single team in the NFL besides us is able to get production from rookie wideouts. We draft guys, sit them on the bench a couple seasons, and then cut them so we can play washed up veterans instead. I don't care how dumb they are, or how short they are, or how tall they are, or how many music videos they were in. Put them on the field and let them play. We have nothing to lose.
