Combine Measurable Comparisons Redskins DL Prospects

Hi gang,

Just some interesting statistical information from the combine with regard to some of the Defensive prospects selected by the Redskins. It is clear to me that the Redskins focused on character types. Kerrigan is about as clean a prospect as you could draft but Jenkins was a team captain as was Markus White. However, I think you will find it interesting to see some combine numbers of some of these prospects beside some of the other prospects that many of us (including me) were clamoring for. I think this draft has shown many that there is a different perspective in this organization.

Ryan Kerrigan - 40 yd dash 4.71, 31 reps, 33.5 vertical, 7.18 3 cone drill.

For those who wanted:

Robert Quinn - 4.70, 22 reps, 34 vert, 7.13 3 cone drill

Aldon Smith - 4.78, 20 reps, 34 vert, 7.19 3 cone drill

Adrian Clayborn - 4.83, 19 reps, 33 vert, 7.30 3 cone drill

J.J. Watt - 4.84, 34 reps, 37 vert 6.88 3 cone drill

Cam Jordan - 4.78, 25 reps, 31 vert, 7.07 3 cone drill

In case you were a Phil Taylor fan (whom I think will be a great player myself)....consider this:

Chris Nield DT WAS 7th rd - 5.12, 30 reps, 29 vert, 7.56 3 cone drill

Phil Taylor DT CLE 1st round - 5.14, 31 reps, 29.5 vert, 7.75 3 cone drill

If you liked Terrell Mcclain in the second round:

Jarvis Jenkins Will play the 5 technique according to Mike Shanahan

5.08, 17 reps, 26.5 vert, 7.42 3 cone

Terrell Mcclain - 5.0, 29 reps, 28 vert, 7.48 3 cone drill

Granted, Kerrigan is a projection and he is being compared to guys that are LB or DE. I also feel Jenkins was a slight reach but he stacks up to other second round DE/DT. i also realize that Phil Taylor is about 25 more pounds than Nield but hopefully you get my point....

Very good draft for the Redskins. They turned 2 picks in the first 4 rounds into a haul of prospects that have legitimate shots at making this team.
