Report: LSU's Patrick Peterson says Cowboys selecting him is 'dream scenario'

AText Size By Jon Machota / Special contributor to SportsDayDFW.com

Former Texas A&M outside linebacker Von Miller was “bummed out” when he didn’t interview with the Dallas Cowboys at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

During an early March radio interview with local station 103.3 KESN-FM, Miller said it would be a “true blessing” to be selected by the Cowboys in the NFL Draft.

“I always saw myself with a blue star on the side of my helmet,” Miller said at the time.

Well, Miller, who is projected to be picked in the top 10 on Thursday, is not alone. Los Angeles Times NFL columnist Sam Farmer tweeted Wednesday that another top 10 talent wants in on playing in Big D.

“Both Von Miller and Patrick Peterson said their dream scenario is Dallas trading up to pick them,” Farmer posted.

Peterson, who played at LSU, is widely regarded as the top defensive back and possibly the most talented player in the draft.

Farmer didn't elaborate on his tweet, however, on Monday he posted his opinion on the direction the Cowboys may go with their first round pick.

There is supposedly a trade in place with Cleveland that if Peterson falls to 6th Dallas will give up their 1st and 3rd round picks for him. Also a trade in place with Arizona if a very specific set of circumstances happen, though I don't know the details on that.

Every year ... some big time player is linked to being dealt to Dallas.

A few years back it was Adrian Peterson.

Who doesn't want to play in Dallas? (Homer aside). Great stadium, owner who pays well and only ONE cold weather game all season which may not even be that cold? Sign me up.

They don't call them America's Team for nothing.

He's probably the best player in this draft.

I'll be less than pleased if he ends up in Dallas.

No way he drops to #9 and I doubt Dallas moves up to get him.

no way in hell he goes past 6...and as it was pointed out, there is a slight chance, but a chance.......that Dallas would move up 3 picks to get him. i am all for it,. If not, then i hope JJ goes against his own self and picks the T. I dont know why people hate on him. He is still growing and has very athletic feet. He will be an "athletic 345 lber by his 3rd season in the NFL.

I have been dreaming of Patrick Peterson since before the end of the regular season last year. I love LSU players...especially skilled players. And I really love Peterson...but who doesn't? I think the entire world knows that he is the BEST player in the draft.

With the current state of our defense, I don't think that your QBs will find it that hard to find other places to throw. We are in bad shape.

:(

I don't think our front 7 is in THAT bad of shape. Yeah, we need another DE (Possibly re-sign Spears).

Our secondary is the problem. If we some how manage to draft Peterson and sign a Michael Huff/Eric Weddle the secondary then becomes a strength.

Let the pukes trade up to number 1 to get him. Give up all their picks this year and next years rounds 1-2-3 too.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Word is it's this years 1 and a 3rd.

If I'm the Browns I'd ask for a lot more. The difference in talent between Peterson and who you'd end up with at #9 is gigantic.

They will likely still end up with their guy at 9.

Reports i've read they want Julio. SF, Dallas and Tennessee will unlikely draft Julio. So they could grab a few picks this year and maybe next and still get their guy.

Cleveland is also saying their pick is willing to be dealt ... but honestly, I think any teams pick is good to go for the right price.

this is indeed true and why Cleveland is in a good spot. They could pick up a 3rd round pick and get their guy. Imagine that......its a good place to be. If they dont make the trade, they most likely will pick Julio Jones....and I do think we all know that if they dont pick Jones (as you stated) he will go to the 10th pick.Arizona is the pick i am afraid of. They have a beed on him right now at #5.
