After being shot down earlier this week, the Arizona State Senate revived and successfully passed a bill that would create a mechanism for the state to nullify federal laws.

As TPM has reported, Senate Bill 1433 would create a 12-person "Joint Legislative Committee on Nullification of Federal Laws," which would "recommend, propose and call for a vote by simple majority to nullify in its entirety a specific federal law or regulation that is outside the scope of the powers delegated by the People to the federal government in the United States Constitution."

Arizona is a scary place. Don't they see what they are fostering. It's already manifested at least once.

What are they fostering?

And hell, they might as well nullify federal law there. It's not like the feds are enforcing them anyway.

If they feds can be selective in enforcing law why can't the states?

Umm...maybe because it's unconstitutional.

You know this whole thing makes me sick. I mean seriously, the Right screams that they are the party of the Constitution and then they do crap like this, and surprise surprise their supporters back them up 100%. Yeah H_H and twa I'm talking about you. Don't you dare claim to support the constitution and then defend Arizona here.

You want to allow Arizona to nullify Federal laws, fine. Let's kick Arizona out of the Union, they can merge with Mexico. Hey come to think of it, if they become part of Mexico that will solve their illegal immigration problem. Problem solved!

I fully support the federal governments constitutional obligation to secure the borders. Fully.

And then in the next breath you excuse Arizona for writing legislation that would allow them to nullify Federal law.... BTW the United States Constitution IS Federal law, this law could allow them to nullify the Constitution. All this from the illustrious party of the defenders of the Constitution....long live the GOP!

No one legitimately wants Arizona to secede, or to allow them to secede. But I'm 100% in favor of forcing the federal government's hand, and forcing them, by whatever means necessary, to do their God **** job.

Even if that means passing unconstitutional legislation.....

If they don't want to abide under Federal authority then let them secede...get rid of them, let's see how well they do on their own. BTW, the civil war was fought over the VERY issue.

Desperate times....

Then do not claim to support the Constitution.

I think it's entirely laughable that Arizona would pass legislation that would "nullify in its entirety a specific federal law or regulation that is outside the scope of the powers delegated by the People to the federal government in the United States Constitution" when that very United States Constitution forbids them from passing exactly this law. Fricking hypocrites.

Naw pretty sure;) it is granted under the commerce clause, privacy rights or the 10th.

It will need to be drafted well though :saber:...let the court battle begin

I'd ask how you'd solve the problem, but I already know youre a "let 'em eat caker."

Again, don't claim to support the Constitution. The worst part about this is that you KNOW that the Constitution forbids this and yet you ignore that.

It's a living document that evolves...maybe it mutated?

OK. You're right. I hate the Constitution. That's why I've taken multiple oaths in its defense. That's certainly got to be it. I offered my blood if necessary to ensure its continuance, but I'm dead-set in opposition to it. :ols:

And let's not be making judgments about my stance on federal law when you've admitted MULTIPLE times that you want amnesty for illegals. (Or as your side likes to FAUX label them, "immigrants.")

What's the solution? How would YOU ensure that the federal law prohibiting illegal immigration is enforced?
