tdigle
Not all that up to date on whom the Saints have playing at that position. Does this make them a suitable trade partner for one of our TEs?
Mahons21
They had some guy Jimmy Graham who was doing descent at the end of last season, pretty solid all around fundamental TE, doubt they would trade with us.
ABSTRACT
Jimmy Graham is a beast and could break out next year. Very athletic TE. TEs are still easy to replace imo. There are probably 10 teams out there willing to give us a 2nd or 3nd rounder for Cooley.

Bubble Screen
To the guy that asked who their TEs were. As mentioned, Graham was really good at the end of last season. And they already had Dave Thomas, too. Them releasing Shockey shouldn't come as any surprise.
G.A.C.O.L.B.
I remember Jimmy Graham was a pretty hot prospect going into the draft last year. IIRC he was a basketball.player and only played a year of football. Sick physical attributes.

Not that Shockey ever really made a huge impact there anyways. But that's what happens when you put an average receiving TE on a team that spreads the ball around consistently...he's not "special" enough to demand targets in that offense. Graham will be. Hitman21ST
NO. before anyone asks. F shockey. I agree, but the guy does have two Super Bowl rings. He has the ability to be a great TE, but his style of TE is all too common for him to be a hot commodity.

Conn
Shockey just signed a two-year deal with the Panthers. Chose them over Miami.
bushwack
Shockey just signed a two-year deal with the Panthers. Chose them over Miami. Well in Miami he would have to compete with Fasano for catches, while in Carolina there's no one of significance at the TE spot, with Jeff King has the best statistics out of the old group. Yup, not hard to see why he chose that destination. Might also actually put up some good stats, whether Clausen starts or they draft a rookie. He'll be the constant beneficiary of a bad or inexperienced QB's check-downs.
HailToTheRedskins14
If TE's are easy to replace, why would anyone give up a 2nd or a 3rd for a TE? Because this is ExtremeSkins, where we have top 5/top 10 players at every position but finish with crappy records.

For all you fantasy football geeks, he might be worth a look in PPR leagues now...
Conn
For all you fantasy football geeks, he might be worth a look in PPR leagues now... Definitely. He's not a great player, and he's slowing down, but when you look at the number of targets he's practically guaranteed to receive (pending the draft/FA, etc.), he's worth at least a look. As an average starter if you don't have one of the sure studs or a young playmaker.
bushwack
For all you fantasy football geeks, he might be worth a look in PPR leagues now... There are still too many options at TE to waste a pick on Shockey. There's Gates, Clark, Davis, Finley, Witten, Cooley, Daniels, Graham, Gonzalez, Winslow Jr., Lewis, Zach Miller, and Gronkowski. There's even a few more I would take over Shockey, so I wouldn't draft Shockey until one of the last rounds as a back up, at best.

I was looking at it from a dynasty perspective, where many owners have managed to hoard the best TE's, leaving scraps for those unfortunate guys looking for a starter.
