What was the compensation in return for Tryon?

And when is the official draft order released?

The official draft order was released 2 weeks ago at the conclusion of the Super Bowl...we basically had to wait and see who was picking 31st and 32nd.

We'll package the two 5ths to trade into the 4th, in order to draft Greg McElroy.

As many holes as this team needs to fill and you want to waste 2 picks on McElroy...comical :ols: very comical

From everything I have read Justin was traded for an undisclosed draft pick, I know according to his agent there was a lot of interest in him at the time so I suspect it was better than a 7th round pick.

I'm sure we will find out come draft pick time

Yea I just read 5 different articles about this trade and all said the pick was undisclosed. However I'm not too sure that he had that much interest as you said as there was a report from JLC earlier that day that we had released him that was picked up by the media. If there was a lot of interest in trading him why would we see a report that he was released that turned out to be false? Also why do teams trade players for "undisclosed" draft compensation? Do they do that for the fans or to protect themselves from other teams or what?

This is from the Colts message board, posted a few days ago. They are all but certain that it was only a 7th round pick for Tryon and are calling the trade a complete steal for the Colts. He played a lot and graded out very well according to Football Outsiders

"Football Outsiders says Tryon, who played in 12 games with six starts, was third in the league allowing an average of 5.0 yards a catch and sixth in the league allowing an average of 2.2 yards after the catch (YAC).

Those are some impressive numbers. He was also ranked 13th in success rate - 60%"

So if we got a 7th we got completely ripped off here. He could have been our replacement for Carlos.

Tryon is good at bump and run man coverage, and was an ideal fit for the Colt's secondary scheme.

He was always a good player, just a bad fit for this system.

I thought Indy was still running a primarily zone Tampa 2. Have they switched base defenses recently or am I just way off base?

Just out of curiosity, could the conditional pick even be in 2012? Has anyone even made it 2 years before?

Here's hoping for a 5th or 6th. I have searched all over and found nothing on the condtions. Not sure how Colts fans are talking about it like a done deal without having a link.

Eh, Tyron IMO is the better CB than is Westbrook. Not that Westbrook is garbage because he is not. We could have kept him if we wanted to I think. I also don't think any CB we have on the roster comes close to Justin regarding speed. It's not anything that is going to sink us obviously, but with the very strong likelihood of Rogers leaving, it would have been nice to have kept Tryon. Tyron can play and he played well for the Colts.

This is all in retrospect. Tyron was going to be cut and instead they were able to trade him for an undisclosed draft pick. Why that draft pick remains undisclosed is a mystery but it's in all likelihood a 7th RD pick this year. Westbrook got the nod over Tyron because he's a better special teams player. If it was a conditional draft pick then it would have conditions (playing time, stats, etc) and would have a range (5th RD- 7th RD) depending on if Tyron hit certain requirements. This trade didn’t.

Says you. I would much rather give the kid we just drafted a proper look.

Exactly. And what is it with Skins fans always overreacting when a player leaves or gets traded/cut ... "Oh no, why are they letting Carlos Rogers walk?!, oh why did they cut Horton ? Oh my god they traded Jeremy Jarmon ! How could you give up Vonnie Holliday AND a pick ?!"

Just ridiculous... This is Mike Shanahan. We all questioned Vinny/Snyder...

Now, this is how a real team is run... & saying "a 6th rounder will get you a Horton talent at best" is a joke. The reason the Skins have never had successful late round picks is because Vinny would trade em away every year. Now that Shanahan stockpiles picks you'll have more successful late founders.. Hell Neild looks like a steal in the 7th & Banks was undrafted.

You're right. What I meant to say was "Vinny couldn't draft his way out of a wet paper bag."
