REDSKINS SUSPEND ALBERT HAYNESWORTH

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – The Washington Redskins have suspended DL Albert Haynesworth without pay for the team’s next four games for conduct detrimental to the club. He was notified of the club’s decision this morning by General Manager Bruce Allen at Redskin Park.

Redskins’ head coach Mike Shanahan issued the following statement:

“Despite the club’s numerous attempts to persuade Albert Haynesworth to abide by the terms of his contract, he has repeatedly refused to cooperate with our coaching staff in a variety of ways over an extended period of time. Among other things, he has consistently indicated to our defensive coaches that he refuses to play in our base defense or on first-down or second-down nickel situations. He has also refused to follow the instructions of our coaches both during weekly practices and during actual games as well.

“Yesterday, when Albert was at Redskin Park, he told our General Manager Bruce Allen that he [Haynesworth] would no longer speak with me. Although suspending any player is not a decision that a head coach enters into lightly, I believe the situation has reached the point where the club clearly has no alternative.”

Does it seem like they have been looking for a reason to suspend him since the off season and finally got one reason with 4 games left?

Shanny had to let Al bury himself & show his teammates who he really is.

This isn't anything new to Shanny, remember Gardner? He acted like an ass & Shanny finished his career when they were in Denver.

Would be great if the interview on the radio last night was in some way part of the evidence against him......;)

He dug his own grave with that one.

I said it in the other thread and I'll say it here...

Right now, a lot of us wonder if the new front office is running things as best as they can when it comes to the football side of things... They have a bit of a grace period there still...

But one thing is for certain, the business aspect of this front office completely has it's stuff together.

Four games was the most they could suspend him for, so they had to wait until now to pull the trigger.

Bottom line is you don't cross Shanny cause you won't win. And it's about damn time we had a FO like this here.:)

Think of how hard it has been for Shanny to bite his lip waiting for the last 4 games when at every presser he is aksed 100 times about AH. It seemed apparent that this relationship was not going to mend itself and the front office bided its time and moved this to closure, Shanny is not to be trifled with and that is good!

john_keim John Keim

One NFL source, who saw 92s contract, said had the #Redskins put him on waivers and he went unclaimed, they would owe him his 2011 salary.

Didn't know this if true.

It was reported that in addition to converting the $21 million bonus from an option bonus to a signing bonus, the Redskins also guaranteed Haynesworth's base salaries of $5.4 million this season and $3.6 million in 2011,

Now all we need to complement that discipline is for Snyder to beef up the scouting department. Once we do that, my anxiety level with this direction of this team (and the front office philosophy) will be far, far less.

While I have faith that Bruce Allen and his staff will manage this as well as it could be done and probably get something in return for that a-hole, at this point just getting him off the sidelines and out of the lockerroom, showing the guys that do care that it still means something, is worth it.

Karma is a seriously mean mf'er, sooner or later life is gonna catch up to that side o'bacon.
