Mark The Homer
December 3, 2010 Redskins Park Executive Vice President/Head Coach Mike Shanahan On running back Ryan Torain’s injury status: “He was limited today. He got some reps in there but still not 100 percent but getting better.” On if he thinks that Torain will be a game time decision: “Yeah. We’ll do the same thing we have done, try to work him out pretty good and see how he’s doing.” On cornerback Carlos Rogers’s injury status: “He’ll be out.” On safety LaRon Landry’s injury status: “Landry will be out.” On if Rogers’ status is due to a combination of both hamstrings: “A combination of both of them.” On if Rogers was visiting a specialist today: “No, he was getting treatment.” On tackle Trent Williams’ injury status: “He practiced today, full practice.” On missing Landry and Rogers in the secondary: “Anytime you lose great players, obviously it hurts you. You give other people opportunities and see what they can do.” On how cornerback Phillip Buchanon has played: “He’s done a good job. Phillip is very accountable. He’s made some plays and I’m very pleased with his effort and the level of play he’s played at.” On how long he can hold off before making a decision to put Landry on the IR: “If we didn’t think he could play, we would IR him, but there’s hope. That’s why he’s not IR’d. We’ll just kind of wait and see. Hopefully it’s sooner rather than later. That’s a reason why he’s getting treatment and hopefully he’ll be back sooner than later.” On any idea of when Landry’s boot will come off: “I’m hoping it will be off next week.” On if he lets standings dictate when he allows a player to come back from an injury: “If a guy can play, then we’re hoping he can play at a certain level and help us win. I think that’s the key regardless of what your record is.” On what influences his decision to bring a player up from the practice squad: "We talked about it right at the start of camp, it's not just the 53 guys. It's the practice squad because all of these guys are so close. Some guys we started on the practice squad, other guys we brought up. It's part of the evaluation process and how they practice and sometimes it is due to injury. A big part of your football team is those practice players as they get used to your system, feel more comfortable with what you are doing. If there is an injury or they are just showcasing their talents, you got to have them ready. On running back Andre Brown's progress: "I like what I've watched. He has done a good job picking up the system. Watching him on the scout team, looks like he's got a future here." On wide receiver Brandon Banks’ progression within the offense: "I think he's feeling better every day relative to his injury. And the more reps he gets, the better football shape he has, the better opportunity he has to play at the wide receiver position. The one thing you want to make sure though, [he] is close to 100 percent healthy because if you throw him out there too early at the wide receiver position, he could get hurt very quickly." On what have the Giants done to help protect Eli Manning: "They are doing a good job. If your defense is playing extremely well and you’re not giving up points, you can be as conservative as you want and not put the quarterback under too much pressure. It all depends on the team and how they are playing and a little bit of their philosophy as well."
SWFLSkins
If BB does not get killed in the slot how will that effect Moss next year. Or does that mean the Skins just need a true number one?

As long as we're mathematically still alive we need to hold a spot for him IMO.
cmman848
Thanks Mark. I really like Shanahan and know some Broncos fans who are wishing they had him back (or he had never left) right now. I hope Danny is patient enough to give him reasonable time to turn this thing around.
clskinsfan
If BB does not get killed in the slot how will that effect Moss next year. Or does that mean the Skins just need a true number one? Moss is gone after this year. He drops way to many balls. He's a free agent and I will be shocked if he is re-signed.
