REDSKINS MAKE ROSTER MOVES

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed running back Shawnbrey McNeal and wide receiver Maurice Price to their practice squad. To make room, the Redskins released running back Kestahn Moore.

McNeal (5-9, 190) was originally signed by the San Diego Chargers as a college free agent on May 10, 2010, before being waived on Sept. 5, 2010. He was signed to the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad on Sept. 21, before being released on Oct. 7.

During four preseason games with the Chargers, McNeal had seven rushes for 10 yards and four receptions for 18 yards. He also added five kickoff returns for 113 yards with a long of 47 yards.

Before entering the NFL, McNeal played collegiately one year at Southern Methodist after transferring from Miami (Fla.). As a junior, he was an honorable mention All-Conference USA player after he rushed for 1,188 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also added 31 receptions for 283 yards and two touchdowns and returned three kickoffs for 66 yards. In two seasons at Miami he rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns.

McNeal was born on Oct. 17, 1988, in Dallas, where he attended the city’s Madison High School.

Price (6-1, 197) was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as a college free agent on May 8, 2007. He spent the entire 2007 season on the Reserve/Injured list after sustaining a shoulder injury in training camp.

During the 2008 season, Price was inactive in Week 1 at New England (9/7) before being waived on Sept. 9, 2008. He was then signed to the Chiefs’ practice squad on Sept. 11, before being signed to the Patriots active roster on Sept. 24. He was inactive during Week 5 at San Francisco (10/5) before being waived on Oct. 11. Price was re-signed to the Patriots’ practice squad on Oct. 15, where he remained the rest of the season.

Price signed as a free agent with the 49ers on Jan. 30, 2009, before being waived on Sept. 5. He then signed with the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad on Dec. 16, 2009, where he remained the rest of the season. He was re-signed to the Ravens on Jan. 19, 2010, before being released on June 6.

Price played collegiately at Charleston Southern where he appeared and started in 26 games over three years. He was born on Sept. 11, 1985, in Orlando, Fla., and attended Olympia (Fla.) High School.

Moore (5-10, 214) was signed to the Redskins’ practice squad on Nov. 23.

How many running backs have we been through since final cuts at the end of training camp? Off the top of my head I can think of 9.

Am I missing any? I might be mistaken, but I can't remember in recent years our back field ever being this awful and having this much turn over.

Edit: make that 11, I forgot Andre Brown and Quinn Porter.

I think it's great that McNeal had a 47 yard kickoff return. I think it's bad that he averaged 16.5 yards on his other 4 returns... But I think it's even worse that he averaged 1.4 yards per rushing attempt.

Meh, he's just camp fodder anyway. Or, I mean, practice squad fodder. I mean, isn't that what our practice squad amounts to eventually?

Again, Vinny's legacy continues to haunt and hang over us like a bad stench we just can't clear, no matter how hard we clean.

Making do with the cheap options of Rock and Betts for a good few years longer than we should have, with little to no draft picks to replace them when the new regime are tasked with that; lead to scratting around with chumps like Larry Johnson and Willy Parker. Throw in a line that can't block for **** due to the serious lack of talent on it (again, thank you V.Cerrato Esq.) and it goes a long way to explaining the back situation.

Thankfully, Torrain and Williams look like they just might be worth working with over the coming years, which is something.

Hail.

There's one thing you guys haven't realized yet.

We quit being a smashmouth single back running team a soon as Shanny walked in the door.

The ZBS is going to have us churning through RBs every year.

It's why we carry extra RBs on the Practice Squad to dip into when a guy gets banged up.

Oh yeah? Tell that to Ryan Torain when he bulldozed Quintin Mikell in that first Eagles game. That was smashmouth baby!!

In fact, let's just remember that game and forget the Monday night one ever happened.

Oh, and whoever listed all the running backs...screw it, just go back to training camp and add Willie Parker to the list so we can hit an even dozen.

Are people really upset they don't know every name signed to the practice squad?? I find it entertaining people are expecting blockbuster moves for the PS...
