They light one candle for each causality suffered at the battle of Antietam, It is about a 2 hr wait to get in and a 5 mile drive through the battlefield . It has been listed as one of the top ten things to do.see in the US Battle of Antietam September 17 1862, 22,720 causalities compared to D Day , 6 June 1944 estimated 10 000 casualties.
