UGO: The 100 Best Movie Spaceships

Saw this linked on Facebook, and I know that Tailgate just can't resist arguing over anybody's "top 100 list", of anything.

So I figured I'd start another argument. :)

One of their award winners:

Padme's Star Skiff - Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

The Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps of the Royal House of Naboo really outdid themselves when they created the J-type Star Skiffs. Its sleek avian design was later used as sense memory when Natlie Portman danced the Swan Queen in Black Swan.

Sorry, folks, but I thought the ship from Episode 1 was a lot better. Yes, it was an SR-71 painted silver. But, it was an SR-71 painted silver.

----------

And I really agreed with their comment:

USS Enterprise (Refit) - Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Fans have never been so lengthily and publicly wanked as during Kirk and Scotty's shuttle ride to spacedock during the beginning of TMP.

Those who don't understand Star Trek might question twenty minutes of slow pans over every panel of the hull. For the rest of us, um, excuse me, there's. . . something in my eye.

Yeah, I got the impression that they tried to mostly limit it to a few ships per movie.

Like, I think that almost every ship shown in 2001 should be on that list. (Only exception I can think of was the station-to-moon shuttle. There was no reason for it to have retractable landing gear, and certainly no reason for the ****pit to be staring at the sky during landing.)

I can't believe that the new Enterprise didn't make the list.

The new Enterprise is a deliberate distortion of the "real" Enterprise. The only time it looks even tolerable is when they carefully pick the camera angle to try to make it look like the original. Like the one you posted. From that angle, the major twisting and distortion is relatively hidden.)

I enjoyed the movie. (And I can't really figure out why, cause the story was atrocious.) But the ship was fugly.

I hated Padme's ships. Way too shiny, and part of the "CGI problem" that took away the more realistic and gritty look from the original trilogy. Gotta go with the Star Destroyer, or Super Star Destroyer. Or the classic X-Wing.

Hey, they did rate The Millennium Falcon better than all of them.

Oh noes a purist. LOL Seriously thought I love the new Enterprise, they kept the original overall design but updated some of the features to make a much more attractive ship IMO.

Tough to argue with the top four, but ... um ... where's the Death Star? Did I miss it? Hell of an omission.

However, the explanation for number one was dead solid perfect.

Oh totally agreed, and I'm glad you mentioned it but how can you talk about spaceships without talking about the Death Star? Unless they are classifying it as a space station.

I am very surprised the Star Destroyer was so low on the list. The Millenium Falcons spot isn't shocking, considering it was a POS. I also think the mothership from District 9 should have been higher, considering it looked bad ass, but obviously they couldn't get it to work until the end.

No mention of the Alien Fighters from Independence Day, fail. Also no mention of Boba Fetts spaceship, very unorthodox, therefore unique, same with Obi Wans Jedi Starfighter in Revenge Of The Sith.
