Conn
He had stutter steps..... Disappointed to say the least. Really? I'm with BLC. I liked the cutting ability and burst that I saw. Unfortunately, that wasn't much because we didn't stick with the run, and there weren't any lanes. Looked to me like he was having trouble decisively choosing a lane to cut into....because there weren't any. Even my girlfriend caught ONE of his runs (the one where he was tripped..she was doing a paper and mostly just listened to the game) and immediately said that she liked how he ran compared to Williams and Torain. Lower, more balanced, and with burst and more speed. All from one run. I realize she isn't, nor am I, the authority on running styles and RB skill , but I'm still surprised that many of the people in this thread didn't see what BLC and I saw in the few runs that Davis had. SKINSFAN87
Guy showed ZERO vision, balance or burst.Maybe it was all the time off, but he looked terrible out there. Keiland looked faster and thats terrible. If you have been watching this joke of a team, it's the line that has been sucking all year long. I don't care what running back we put back there, no one is going to run with consistency. I know torain had a couple good games, but it was pure luck. I like davis and I hope that he is part of the future of this team. The oline and dline need massive overhauls in the offseason as well as wide receiver. The vikings today were nothing great, but our crappy team made them look good. Can't wait for next year when shanahan can finally start building a team of his making and getting rid of vinny's pickups. We need to definitely build around mcnabb. HAIL! Keiland looked faster and thats terrible. I've heard rumors of teams who don't use one game to decide the fate of their players. Let's give Williams, Davis, and Torain the balance of the season and the pre-season of 2011 to figure out who deserves to make the team/play. rumplestilskin
I am dssapointed KW never got most of the carries. He deserved it due to his past two games and better hands.

Same here, I cannot understand how only 9 rushing plays have been called all game. 6 to Davis and 3 to Williams, the RB's were never given a chance to establish themselves at all. PortisBetts
Jesus it was his first game after 2 weeks of practice. He had the burst, it was obvious, the holes just weren't there. Give him another week I think people will be slightly suprised

Conn
I disconcur. James Davis IS the Answer, I'm just not sure of the question yet Hopefully, the question is "who will be our successful featured back behind a rebuilt offensive line in 2011", and you're right. inPORTISweTRUST
Don't draft RBs that high. Davis is AssBig Fail? Adrian Peterson, Gale Sayers, Emmit Smith, Walter Peyton, Jim Brown........ What do they have in common? They were ALL 1st round picks :pfft:
Fred Jones
Can anyone other than Barry Sanders run behind this line and look good? Agreed, I am far more worried about upgrading the talent along the offensive line than I am the running back position. I am not saying that I would not mind a featured back or in-prime Portis. However, acquiring offensive linemen is absolutely required this off season.

ATLredskin
Portis sucks, but the line is fine. Davis is good, but the line sucks. I heard this same arguement for Torain. I don't talk about RBs anymore since everyone think Keiland Williams is actually a decent back...

Frostx08
I was indeed disappointed with Davis today. I hope this was just 1st game jitters and not that he sucks. I mean our rushing today was pathetic

I mean our rushing today was pathetic Idk, I didn't see jitters. I saw a crap OL overmatched against a great run-stuffing DL, with no pass game to take the pressure off, and no commitment to the run to get into a groove. Fred Jones
Of course I would love a pro bowl running back. I would love to draft a RB in the first round. It is just not that practical when you have what I would consider more pressing needs. I said early an improved Oline will make the running backs better. They will not suddenly become pro bowl players, but they can get the necessary yards to move the chains and open up the passing game. IMHO, WR is the current skill position I would upgrade first. I would of course upgrade the lines first in the draft, but WR would be the first skill position. A number WR would also improve the running game in addition to improved line talent. PortisBetts
Yup, I agree completely. I can't believe people can't see this. Seriouly, he needs to be given more then 6 carries, and i feel like he might be a better off tackle runner then in the box., but he looked good, and had a burst we havent seen since portis against the bucs in
Conn
williams is better receiver. Agreed, at least right now. I like Williams' seemingly natural, soft hands. My favorite part about him. That and his ability to fight through contact.
