What would it take to get Eddie Royal?

It seems to make too much sense, Royal doesn't seem to be playing a huge role in Denver, and going forward they have DeMarius Thomas, Brandon Lloyd (cringe), Gaffney and others. Obviously we're not giving up a 1st or 2nd, and we won't have a 3rd or 4th next year... could a 5th get it done? A 5th and the Raiders' 4th in 2012? The guy was a star under Shanahan..just seems to make too much sense.

A resigned Moss or taller target FA, plus Royal, Armstrong and Banks/Austin seems like a very nice receiving corp, in my opinion our biggest need this offseason. Should this happen, will it happen?

I'll say this..if we follow your plan and send a 4th and a 5th to Denver for Eddie Royal, I would be PISSED. Those picks matter. Real players are drafted in the 4th and 5th rounds. Also, the Jets got Santonio for a 5th and Eddie Royal is not Santonio Holmes. Like everyone else, I'm ready to start giving the draft a try.

Lets see, do you think they would take C.Rabach,S. Heyer, J.Galloway, R.Williams, K.Lichinznicher, Grossman and Jim Hastoletemscore for him?

You are now my favorite poster ever hahahahahahaha

On topic though, if we could use a 5th to get him, it'd be worth it in my opinion. He's proven he can produce in Shanny's system. Plus if we were to take a WR that late this year, the chances of us landing a player like Royal is highly unlikely.

Then again, I feel like Vinny would think "Hm... great idea." So, I'm hesitant ;)

I would love to get Fitz. He's exactly the type of WR this team needs. He's a possession guy. He goes after jump balls. He's Tall, has great hands, and would really be a true #1. Teams would have to double him and that would leave other players open to make plays. The question is who are the other players? Moss would be a good compliment to him and even though I am not happy with his body of work outside of 2005 I think he has a little gas left in the tank. Armstrong may be ok down the line. Austin? Who knows? Banks.. I'm willing to give that a look this year to find out what we have at WR. This team needs WRs badly but NOT Royal. I could be wrong but he's just another smurf isn't he?

Smurf? Look, having a big WR is great. But look at what is going in Philly with Jackson and Maclin. Not exactly giants but they can run by you. Speed kills.

Local boy. Proven. Young.

If you could get him for a 5th, I'd jump at the chance. I'm pretty much dead against trading away our picks given the state of repair we need to do right across the board, but for a lower end pick that might end in nothing out of the draft for a proven guy with a great upside I'd be more than down.

But given the Broncos signed him as a second rounder, I think they'd laugh in our faces at that. (And I know you suggested the future 4th too, but we're not in a position to give up two picks on one player unless he's TOP quality that would make a real significant difference.).

Hail.

*Edit* Interesting how you see the wide-out core as our biggest need. I would of said the lines on both sides of the ball are imperative to long term stability and being able to consistently challenge. But each to his own.

We've been a disaster with the draft at the WR position going back some time -- we also haven't been that hot with the 4th and 5th round period for any position, trying to think of the last good player we got at that round, Stephen Davis? am a big fan of using the draft, just saying unlike lets say the O line, we can't say we haven't tried to use the draft to upgrade at WR, we just have stunk at it.
