fuji869
I was at the Fox Sports Grill in Downtown Seattle watching the Redskins / Titans Game last Sunday with a bunch of Redskins Fans. When the Skins had 7 players go out I said this is like the Body Bag Game in Philly. One of the Redskins fans asked what was the Body Bag Game. I told him it was a MNF Game in Philly in 1990 where we had so many players injured we were down to Brain Mitchell at QB. He said he does not remember that game because he was only 5! I told him that made me feel so old!

hail2skins
Because the Eagles have no SB championships to celebrate, the BBG has been seen as one of the greatest Eagles games by their fans. Sadly, it'll probably be supplanted by the butt-whooping they administered a few Monday nights ago. As in 1990, we need to make the paloffs and get another crack at them! Woofer
I remember the game. I was watching with my Dad. I was 30. We couldn't believe how bad it was, but we never lost hope that something good would happen, even after B-Mitch took over at QB.
USS Redskins
damn - I was 21 the QB's from the game? Mark Rypien was hurt before the game so he didnt play, if I remember correctly... Stan Humphries, Jeff Rutledge (both hurt) and B Mitch... It's cool though.. the Skins beat them in the playoffs later that season.

Soup
Anyone that doesn't know about the body bag game is either slow of the mind or not a real redskin's fan. Correlation maybe??? Come on, not knowing about that game is like not knowing what 70-chip is....Well sort of
Redskins4ever
I remember that body bag game. The Eagles knocked out Mark Rypien,Stan Humphries and Jeff Rutledge. Brian Mitchell finished the game at QB and led the Redskins to a TD. We got revenge on Philly in the playoffs. Forget feeling old. That was twenty years ago. mossomo
As in 1990, we need to make the paloffs and get another crack at them! Was thinking that too. We can only hope. Would be classic NFC. Cheers.

scruffylookin
It's always interesting to me how some things that are insignificant get catchy names attached to it and are remembered but far more important things are never remembered. Case in point, "The Body Bag Game" We hear about this game alot. Eagle fans love to talk about it. What people (not Skins fans just others) never seem to recall is that the Redskins went back to the Vet a few months later and put a beat down on the Eagles when it actually mattered, the playoffs. Skins won 2 of the 3 meetings that year including a playoff game and yet all that people talk about or recall is "The Body Bag Game". What's worse is when you mention it to these people that in fact the Skins beat the Eagles in a playoff game a few months later, they shrug and don't seem to really care or think it's all that. Just because a single meaningless game in the grand scheme of things gets a nickname, it's remembered. Pretty much sums up our society.
hail2skins
Oh man the clip posted by Woofer says it all. Philly fans get all chesty about that game and then at the end of it, "Oh yeah....we lost to you.....in the playoffs....when it mattered....." God I love all the Skins SB wins and beating Dallas in the NFCCGs, etc, but I honestly don't know if I've ever been more pumped after a win than than one. Gave Eagles owner Norman Braman the impetus he needed to fire Buddy Ryan. Buddy just seemed like such a jerk......Rex is a blowhard too but at least seems to have a good sense of humor and can admit when he gets his butt kicked. A few later I was reading an article in the Sunday WaPo magazine about Gibbs (know its been linked here in the past) and the story talked about how a reporter was one on one with Gibbs before the playoff game vs Philly and as the discussion steered toward the subject of Buddy Ryan, Gibbs' voice kept rising until he exploded "I live to play guys like that!" Gives you chills as a Skins fan!!
