Dirt
I think the only thing to take from today is that Heyer is perhaps a better guard than tackle. He's a big dude, but doesn't make the best quick decisions. I guess that's more acceptable inside at guard. Otherwise, I've been defending Casey in the Casey-hate-threads, mostly because I thought his vocal work at the line was a nice veteran constant on this team. That didn't seem to be a problem with him on the bench. The only problem at the line is McNabb falling over, and I just can't wrap my head around that one. I've tried. Boss_Hogg
i'm cool with it. Will Montgomery played well, save the time he stomped on #5's foot

I'm not sure that it's a decision making thing so much as it is Heyer just not moving his feet well in space. Either way, playing at guard does tend to eliminate much of that. TD Riggo
I'd hate to say it but it was almost a blessing when Rabach went out. It goes to show that a young center that wants it can play and play better. Sorry Casey Rabach has been phoning it in for the past coupla years. He might be a good locker room leader, but he has been overrated in terms of play for at least two years now.
TD Riggo
Agree about Rabach, but the ZBS works everywhere. Houston runs it fairly effectively, and it's not like Mike only won while he was at Mile High. You don't need to weigh 350 lbs to compete on the line in the NFC East, you need to be strong and be able to hold your own one on one. Fortunately, with the ZBS, being able to go one on one only makes the scheme better, because the ZBS is all about blocking areas and giving yourself the best opportunity to win a block, and it lets holes develop naturally as opposed to trying to force a hole open. I agree with this post. While I don't think "we've found our offensive line" of the distant future, I think we did find some chemistry amongst existing personnel .. mostly as a fluke borne of necessity .. that could work well for a few games, if not the remainder of the season. I think we also found that Montgomery > Rabach. Sorry Casey, but it's not exactly like our O-line was stellar before you got hurt.
Dro89
i didnt get to see the game today.. i like that they protected good today, I think we should still address them in the draft though.. trading back and adding a second 2ndrounder (add in a 2012 3rd rounder) so therefor we can get Pouncey and Wisniewski.. Making Our left side of the Line 23-22-22 (ages). We would be set for YEARS...
jflow78
I heard that "Shanahan ran the ZBS so well because of the altitude" theory at some point over the last week as well. Let me just say that you shouldn't believe everything you read or hear. Shanahan's scheme worked just as well at sea level as it did at Mile High Stadium. Didn't he run the ZBS with San Fran when they won the SB? That's closer to sea level than DC. (San Francisco 131 ft above sea level, DC, 377 feet above sea level)

Dro89
Good luck getting Wisniewski that late in the draft. i can see him falling to 2nd.. not because of his talent.. because not many teams will draft a Center in the first...
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
i am completely fine with going this lineup for the next 4 games: Williams/Licthenhooganbrautwurst/Montgomry/Heyer/Brown im seriously shocked that heyer looked good at guard. what the hell was that? hes been a ragdoll for 3 years at RT, all the sudden hes forced to play guard and hes actually productive? lol

Brandon Lloyd Christmas
Jim Zorn. Vinny Cerrato. nah, i wont blame that on them. shannys had over half a season now to attempt heyer at G and he hasnt, so thats on him as well. maybe he just shocked everybody today including the staff? who knows. or maybe he got lucky. im very encouraged by what i saw today but im gonna need to see more. Agreed. Hopefully he'll turn into an above average backup, if not a decent starter. That would plug one hole on the line almost instantly.

Soup
heyer at guard is such a difference even when doc was staring you could tell the difference. IMO if Doc is healthy, I'd like to see Williams/Doc/Montgomery/Heyer/Brown
justice98
I was really curious what they would have done had any of those guys gotten hurt after Dockery and Rabach went down in the first hal, even for a couple of plays? If they only carry 7 active and 2 got hurt, they were gonna be screwed. I was praying they could just get through the game and get outta there. Brown barely plays half the game even in the best of times. lol I guess Alexander played O-Line, but that was 25-30 pounds ago.
scuppajones
I think the Offensive Line got better as soon as Rabach came out. He is the worst, hoping that his injury is a career ender, so tired of watching him get pushed around.
Renegade7
Hmmm... I haven't watched a lot of Titans games, but they were tied for 3rd in the league in sacks and ranked #11 against the run. They are ranked #25 against the pass. Seems like their D line is a strength for their D. Maybe I worded it wrong, but I get your point, hoping you didn't miss mine. More then half of those sacks came from two DEs who are undersized compared to what we're going to be going up against the next two weeks. I was trying to get out that we will face much better defenses and d-lines down the line, so I don't want to get caught up in the upward rush of "ya, this seems to be working" when we're still doing plug and play and pray. Six days ago people we're calling for Shannys, the oline coach, DMac, and Haslett to be gone. Regardless of the record this is still a rebuilding year for us, so the next 2-3 weeks will tells us a lot about this "new" oline, which is really just a bunch of spare parts from what hasn't really been working that well, if at all, the last two and half months... He is the worst, hoping that his injury is a career ender, so tired of watching him get pushed around. And unfortunately he was right back in there today, snapping the ball and watching the opposing linemen walk/run right by him.. I'd really like to hear Shanny's reasoning for not giving Montgomery the start at C this week, after he did so well last?? I dont even want to speculate, cause when I do, Shanny comes out sounding like a dope.. But I'd still love to hear his reasoning.. lol
