SonOfWashington
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/11/19/tampas-mike-williams-arrested-for-dui/ Tampa’s Mike Williams arrested for DUI Posted by Mike Florio on November 19, 2010, 7:35 AM EST Receiver Mike Williams has overcome plenty of self-imposed adversity to become one of the best rookies of the 2010 class. He now has a little more self-imposed adversity to overcome. A tipster has advised us — and we’ve confirmed via the website of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office — that Williams was arrested today for DUI. According to the available information, Williams’ breath testing registered a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.065 and 0.061 percent. Urine testing also is being conducted. He remains in custody as of this posting. (That said, there’s a chance, albeit remote, that it’s a different Mike Williams — who was born on the exact same day, May 18, 1987.) Several weeks ago, Bucs tight end Jerramy Stevens was busted on marijuana charges, and he promptly was cut. Williams likely won’t suffer the same fate, especially if the final test results remain under 0.08 percent, the legal limit. Williams quit the Syracuse football team, but his raw talent propelled him into round four of the 2010 draft. He has started all nine games of his rookie year, racking up 40 catches for 627 yards and five touchdowns. UPDATE: Williams has since been released from custody. hailskins11
The legal limit in the state of Florida is .08 so I am a little confused
Bibby
The legal limit in the state of Florida is .08 so I am a little confused My guess is he was taken to the station because he failed the field soberity test in which the officer thought Williams was Under the Influence of other substances (Marijuana) and given a urine test? MattFancy
He better not screw up my FF team. Same here! Although if he was under the legal limit and doesn't test positive for drugs, why would he not play?

I expect him to, but you never know how these things might turn out.

BlueinBuf
I was thinking the same thing. If he's under the legal limit after 2 tests, why was he arrested? Cause it's still illegal to drive if you are DUI. you can blow a .065 and still be considered DUI for failing a field sobriety test and be arrested. DWI is .08 or over and automatic. DUI doesn't have to have any number associated with it, obviously there are exceptions but if you fail a field sobriety test pretty much no matter what you blow you can still get a DUI. adam@section118
True, but most field sobriety tests are thrown out in court because the officer has made up his mind before he or she administers the test.

Yeah that's understandable. Makes you wonder why they set a limit in the first place. If you aren't supposed to drive after drinking anything, then why the .08? I see where you're coming from by the way. I'm not trying to be argumentative.
Eagles_Legendz
Not trying to stir the pot here, but really? .065 and .061 combined with going 12 over gets you arrested and charged with a DUI? Williams either BOMBED the field sobriety test, or there's some other information we weren't given, or there are incredible racial undertones here IMO. TotalRecall
I was thinking the same thing. If he's under the legal limit after 2 tests, why was he arrested? He may have refused to take the breathalyzer test when he was pulled over (but took it later at police station) OR the cop could have smelled pot from the car, which explains the urine test. Probably smelled pot.

The only reason I even know this stuff is because a year ago I served on grand jury so every Friday for a month I would get to listen to cops talk about pulling over drunk drivers and then get to watch sobriety tests on video(hilarious btw). Yeah I don't understand the reasoning for having a difference either it's like saying, ok if you can handle your liquor between 0 and .079 that's fine we don't care, but the second you go to that .08, it's over no matter what. Eagles_Legendz
And how do you know he wasn't recklessly speeding or stoned or refusing to cooperate? Pulling the race card is unjustified. He was going 12 over. There are a lot of explanations or possibilities as to why this went down the way it did. Reading the story as it is printed, however, makes me see something within the situation as being off. We might not have all the information, but I would be lying if it wasn't the first thing that popped into my head when I read this and tried to figure out how someone going 12 over and who blew a .065 and .061 could get arrested. Bibby
Or the Cop was a 49ers fan but seriously, I'm going to go with the smell of marijuana being present in the car. There does seem to be some missing information from the report. Hopefully it was all justified within the law and nothing corrupt.
Eagles_Legendz
Seems like weed to me as well, but I find it odd it wasn't explicitly listed in any of the articles. That would be my guess as to why he had to submit a urine test.

TotalRecall
From TMZ... Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Williams was arrested for DUI last night -- but cops don't think the rookie superstar was drunk. As ProFootballTalk first reported, Williams was pulled over in Hillsborough County, Florida around 2:48 AM after cops say he was going 57 in a 45 ... and weaving all over the place. Cops say the 23-year-old failed a field sobriety test -- and eventually took two breathalyzer tests once he had been taken to a nearby police station. Cops say he blew a .061 and a .065 -- both under the legal limit of .08. Law enforcement officials tell us Williams may have been under the influence of something that can't be detected by a breathalyzer -- so they asked him to submit to a urine test. Williams obliged -- but the results of the pee test are still pending and could take weeks. Williams was released early this morning -- and we're told he was "very cooperative with the arresting officer and agreed to everything that was requested.” On NFLN, they said that Tampa Bay will punish Williams, but it "won't be a game-related discipline". Hmmm, I doubt a comparatively small fine is going to send the message.
