False Positives on a drug test

I took a drug test for a new job, and I take a lot of herbs and supplements for health reasons, all of which are legal, but some of them are potent, so I am wondering if it's possible that legal herbs can cause a false positive on a drug test ? Anyone have insight or experience on this ?

Well I know poppy seeds can. I guess it depends on what they test for and how closely related these alleged "herbs and spices" are to what the test looks for.

It would probably be easier if you listed what you take before asking the question, saying "herbs and supplements" could mean a lot of things.

Yea you gotta be careful with supplements and herbs. Could probably be a very small amount, but enough to be detected. Best thing to do is just be honest with the job. Show them what you took if need be. Most importantly, don't forget and do it a second time. They won't call you back.

Yes...back in my NASAHQ days the secuirty people warned us multiple times NOT to eat muffins or bagels until after we passed our drug screening. Had other jobs tell me the same. It's like a 50/50 chance, but why risk it. Be careful with drinking too much water before a test as well. it will come back inconclusive and in some cases companies may not retest you. Especially if they pay for the test.

False positives on a drug test was because it didn't read correctly at the lab. Like if someone did something funky with their urine.

Not intended to be an insult or anything, just saying be careful. I worked with a couple people that had similar boo boos 2 times in a row. They understand the first time as long as you're honest. If you make a boo boo a second time it looks real sketchy. I learned way back if you gotta pee for somebody, just make sure you avoid everything at all costs.

I'm even taking a prescription pain-killer called Tramadol, that I googled and some people are saying it will test positive on a drug test. Anyone know for sure about that one ?

You're aware this is for a new job, not a current one, right ?

If you take a 2nd drug test, then I'm sure it would be clean, because by that time it's out of your system, if you're smoking weed or something, which is why prospective employers want you to take it within 24-48 hours of the job offer.
