Hitman21ST
http://www.redskins.com/gen/articles/Stats_Standings_517.jsp Looking at the defensive stats for us this year, we have three players with at least 60 tackles (McIntosh with 62, Landry and Fletcher both with 60). If they can keep that pace up (averaging 12 per game), they'll end up with totals in the 190s. I know that's all but impossible, but what other teams have three players who, after 5 games, have 60 tackles? That's a damn impressive stat. ... OK, just crossed the numbers with NFL.com, and they're a little lower. Landry is 2nd in the league with 52 total, but then Fletcher, D Hall, and Rocky Mac are all tied for 7th with 46. That's still on pace for about 150, which is nothing to sneeze at. The Skins have 4 players in the top 10 of tackles, and only the Texans have mulitple players, buthey have 2 (Pollard and Ryans). This just goes to show the new attitude of the defense, how everyone is flying around making plays, and the playmakers are getting to the ball when they need to. Conn
Its actually not that good, other than for probowl nominations. It means our D is on the field for far too long. I'd much rather see smaller tackle numbers and have them getting off the field faster. But still, good for them for making those tackles. Especially Landry. Spear
High tackle numbers mean the defense can't get off the field. It's not necessarily something you want to thump your chest over.
CliffBattles
Yeah.....I'd rather have more 3 and outs for opposing teams

Yep, I remember one year ( maybe it was '00) where Ray Lewis had close to 200 tackles, which was partly due to the fact that the Ravense offense was absolutely terrible. Potato Sack
Lower numbers of tackles and an increasing number of sacks and INTs, imo.

It also means we're not giving up the big play. I'm a silver lining kind of guy.
DeadExField
I hear you guys about not being able to get off the field, but given the circumstance that we're stuck on the field, I like to see our team making those tackles, rather than having a stat for the leagues most missed tackles
Potato Sack
DeadExField - I could watch your signature gif all day. Apart from Armstrong's catch in the fourth quarter against the Packers, the play against the Cowboys still stands out in my mind. It'll probably always be one of those plays I will always remember - just like the two pass plays to Moss in the Miracle Game.
terrifNick21
The Packers were 2/13 on 3rd downs yesterday and Landry had 13 tackles, Hall had 12 tackles, and Fletcher had 7 tackles. I'll take that "not getting off the field" all day every day.
x96bryan10
Anyone care to explain how on redskins.com and nfl.com D.Hall only has credit for 1 INT??? I'm no he had the one at the end of the philly game but i was positive he had another one in one of the previous games.

Nope, he had the strip and score, but the one at the end of the Philly game is his only one so far.

That being said, all of our starting DBs have INTs so far on the year.

An individual on the defense (usually the MLB) can have a high tackle total and all is well and good. When you have multiple players with high tackles and your satefties and corners are leading your team in that category, you have problems. We have problems. He had a couple then. You also might be thinking about the fumble recovery against Dallas.
lou4gehrig
High tackle numbers mean the defense can't get off the field. It's not necessarily something you want to thump your chest over. Or it could mean that you have no running game and your offense has too many 3 and outs. Both of which are true in our case.
Dirt
Don't usually like to be negative, but I think it shows how many completed passes we're allowing... I don't need stats to tell you that anyway. Guys are hardly ever in position to swat the ball away. Unless it's wayy downfield....ever notice teams don't throw downfield on us often?.. They take what we give em, 10 yd passes, with 4-6 guys in front of the receiver, hence, tackles. **** tackles, I want passes defended
