tr1
http://www.wfaa.com/sports/football/cowboys/Jerry-Jones-wants-more-touches-for-Felix-104544024.html by Joe Trahan/WFAA-TV I know there's a segment of you out there that really thinks Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is the team's head coach with Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett his defensive and offensive coordinators. I know you're out there because you e-mail me here at channel 8, or you call and/or text in to my radio show on 103.3FM ESPN. Its not true, and if it were would we have to listen to Jones make repeated pleas for Felix Jones to touch the ball more? It happened near the end of last season, and again this week. On his own radio show Tuesday, Jones saying, "He's just too much of a threat, and that was our intention in preseason coming out, no matter whether he's getting a chance to be in the running game, but certainly in the passing game as well," Jones said on KRLD FM. "I really look for you to see a lot more of Felix Jones." In the last 5 games of last season, including the 2 playoff games, Jones touched the ball 83 times from scrimmage for an average of about 16-and-a half touches per game. The Cowboys won 4 of those 5 games. The defense played a huge role with a couple shutouts in there, but I'm sure that those are the sort of chances the owner was expecting Jones to get at the beginning of this season. It hasn't happened. In 3 games so far, Jones has averaged less than 9 touches a game so far, and against the Texans, Jones didn't have a pass thrown his way. Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett says Jones is one of the many options he'd like to employ, "Felix is one of the guys in our offense we want to get the ball to, but we have other guys we want to get the ball to. So, we're going to run it we're going to throw it different guys are going to get it. Game situations dictate it." Garrett adding that taking snapshots of a game or two doesn't tell the entire story, "we're going to play the season out and I think Miles is a great example, caught 10 balls in the first game caught 10 balls in the second game caught two or 3 balls last week," Garrett said. "That's the way it works, that's the way it works and over the course of a season every body's going to get their opportunities, we're gong to continue to attack defenses lots of different ways." I suspect we'll see Felix Jones touch the ball at least 15 times Sunday, and while Jerry Jones isn't the head coach, he is the guy who tells the head coach and the offensive coordinator, for that matter, what to do. tr1
Jerruh intimidates Garrett. Awesome! Imagine DS saying he wanted Torain to get more touches...how much howling would there be on ES?
Roger.Staubach
Well...it's their own damned fault. They thought he was too fragile and decided it would be best to make him bulkier. All they've done is negate the one advantage that he had over the rest. Right now, he's looking average.
Hunter_R
He should just fire Phillips and coach the team himself.
Warhead36
What exactly has Felix Jones done to warrant so much Jerry Jones nuthugging? Marion Barber is a tough runner so I could understand that, and obviously Romo sits to pee, Witten, and Austin have proven to be big time playmakers. It must be the Arkansas thing. HapHaszard
I personally think Felix Jones should get 30-40 carries a game, once he gets in a zone he will really shine. I just sent Jerry an e-mail telling him that.

thebluefood
He should just fire Phillips and coach the team himself. Why not? Worked for George Halas; and I'm sure Jerruh believes he's twice the owner/coach Papa Bear was, anyway. He really might as well do it.
Roger.Staubach
Jerruh intimidates Garrett. Awesome! Imagine DS saying he wanted Torain to get more touches...how much howling would there be on ES? Dude, really? On the whole, if there is an owner that is more disliked that DS, I don't know who he is. There wouldn't be any howling on ES because there are too many other things to howl about. Your team is, and has been, a joke since DS took over. Do you think that your fans are going to be *more* frustrated if DS decides that All-Torain needs more touches? Hell, I would think that they would be all for it if for no other reason than "something has to work." If you want to post about the Redskins, please do so elsewhere... there is an active thread about DT that you might enjoy. haha.

I do  The Most Disliked People In Sports "Right behind Vick in this year's poll: Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis, a longtime maverick with a history of clashing with the NFL, coaches and politicians in northern and southern California over stadium deals that have led him to move the club twice. Also making the list is fellow renegade NFL owner Jerry Jones, who likes to run the Dallas Cowboys as more of a freestanding business than as part of a league." And just so you know, Dan Snyder was nowhere on that list ...

Man, this thread is so full of fail, I don't know where to begin. I'll just say Califan shut down your argument, and you're team is just as much a ****ing joke the past 15 years as ours is. I'll take my superfan coach, who's learning as he goes, although he's made mistakes, over your skeletor look-a-like old fart who's so meddlesome, no coach could possibly survive and be successful there. Dough boy is just the most recent puppet of that senile old bag. I sincerely hope that, if Tennessee wins and summarily ends any playoff hopes your overhyped turd franchise had, in week 5 no less, that you leave this board and stop spewing bull****. Shining Star
Jones gets more pub than Snyder because the Skins have been irrelevant for the most part since he bought them. Nobody has cared about them from a national perspective for along time. That's just the facts.

I absolutely understand why people hate Skeletor (jealousy, for the most part). Our current owner has won as many Super Bowls as all of the previous Skin's owners combined. Haha. My post should have read, "...if there is an owner that is more disliked *by his own fan base* than DS..." **in hindsight, it's probable that Al Davis is more hated by his fan base that Snyder. I doubt that Jerry is even close to Snyder due to his 3 Super Bowl victories

MrSilverMaC
I like it when Jones coaches. I think for him to be really effective he should stand on the sideline all game long, instead of just at the end of close games.

HailToTheRedskins14
And ever since Snyder has owned this team, the Skins have won more playoff games than Jerry led Dallas. Ouch! But but but...INDIVIDUAL STATS! And and and....Pro Bowls! And preseason hype! I actually saw a Cowgirl fan boasting about beating the Saints last year in the regular season. He didn't respond when I congratulated him on the regular season win and pointed out that the Saints actually went on to win the Superbowl.
