JMS
http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2010/10/christine-odonnell-ad-i-am-not-a-witch.html Christine O'Donnell Ad: 'I'm Not A Witch' ABC's Michael Falcone reports: “I'm not a witch," Delaware Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell assures voters, who may be concerned that she once "dabbled" in the dark arts, in a new ad released by her campaign on Monday. "I'm nothing you've heard," O'Donnell continues in the 30-second spot -- the first of the general election -- "I'm you." The ad features a spare background, quiet piano notes and O’Donnell, the GOP candidate who has sparked controversy for her past statements on witchcraft, abstinence and evolution, among other things, speaking directly into the camera. <img style="visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="http://counters.gigya.com/wildfire/IMP/CXNID=2000002.0NXC/bT*xJmx*PTEyODYyODY5Njg5NTkmcHQ9MTI4NjI4NzEyNTg5Mi ZwPTEyNTg*MTEmZD1BQkNOZXdzX1NGUF9Mb2NrZV9FbWJlZCZn/PTImbz*4Nzg2ZWM1ZTBiYjY*N2I*YjE4N2ZiNDlmODQ*ODNhMy ZvZj*w.gif" /><object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,124,0" width="344" height="278" id="ABCESNWID"><param name="movie" value="http://abcnews.go.com/assets/player/walt2.6/flash/SFP_Walt.swf" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowNetworking" value="all" /><param name="flashvars" value="configUrl=http://abcnews.go.com/video/sfp/embedPlayerConfig&configId=406732&clipId=11799817&showId=11799817&gig_lt=1286286968959&gig_pt=1286287125892&gig_g=2" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed src="http://abcnews.go.com/assets/player/walt2.6/flash/SFP_Walt.swf" quality="high" allowScriptAccess="always" allowNetworking="all" allowfullscreen="true" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="344" height="278" flashvars="configUrl=http://abcnews.go.com/video/sfp/embedPlayerConfig&configId=406732&clipId=11799817&showId=11799817&gig_lt=1286286968959&gig_pt=1286287125892&gig_g=2" name="ABCESNWID"></embed></object> “None of us are perfect, but none of us can be happy with what we see all around us,” she says. “Politicians who think spending, trading favors and back-room deals are the ways to stay in office. I’ll go to Washington and do what you’d do.” O'Donnell defeated Rep. Mike Castle, R-Del., to win the Republican Senate nomination and is facing off against Democrat Chris Coons in the general election. Her campaign has gained notoriety from a steady stream of video clips released by television personality Bill Maher, who often featured O'Donnell as a guest on the show he hosted for nearly 10 years, "Politically Incorrect." In the ad's finale, O'Donnell repeats one of her opening lines: “I’m you."

techboy
I'm still waiting for a non-partisan team of qualified experts, using properly selected and calibrated equipment, to establish that she does not, in fact, weigh the same as a duck. Until then, I just can't vote for her in November.
SKINS@THEGOALLINE
A witch? Maybe not . . . Dumb as a doorknob? Certainly.
thebluefood
Damn it, Larry! You stole my post. Seriously, is there another football themed message board with more Princess Bride references?
Elessar78
Lawdy, I hate it when the obvious solution stares us in the face and we refuse to acknowledge it.... Tie a mill stone around her neck and throw her in a lake. If she drowns then she was not a witch, if she floats to the surface and flies away we have our answer. Hubbs
I don't care how many references have already been made, I still want to know if she weighs the same as bread. Or apples. Or very small rocks. Or lead. Or churches, churches. Or a duck.

Destino
That ad is off the charts creepy. "I'm not a witch. I'm nothing you've heard. I'm you." WTF is that about?!

Teller
That ad is off the charts creepy. "I'm not a witch. I'm nothing you've heard. I'm you." WTF is that about?! I dunno. But I'm disappointed that it even has to run. After these last few years of hearing that the religion of candidates doesn't matter, and that they shouldn't have to prove or disprove what religion they are, it all gets chucked out the window now. Obama was a Muslim longer than O'Donnell was a witch. That's a fact. If we want to play these games, let's play 'em all.
Burgold
I don't like the "I'm nothing you've heard" Does that mean we can't believe anything she's said in her speeches or debates and that every word of criticism, including Palin's positive criticism and endorsement is an outright lie! How can everything be wrong!
The Evil Genius
Then why did she claim to graduate from Hogwarts? Oh wait. That's the one place she doesn't claim a degree from.

That's a fact. If we want to play these games, let's play 'em all. Well, if you remember, we did play all these games. Obama had to state explicitly during the primaries that he was a Christian. "Let's make clear what the facts are: I am a Christian, I have been sworn in with a Bible, I pledge allegiance and lead the pledge of allegiance sometimes in the United States Senate when I've presided." http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=18137417His campaign website had pages dedicated to dispelling the Muslim rumors: http://www.barackobama.com/factcheck/2007/11/12/obama_has_never_been_a_muslim_1.php Sure, it would be nice if we lived in a world where the religion of candidates didn't matter, but we don't, and both Obama and O'Donnell have to address these rumors. I think the Muslim guy did a slightly better job than the witch is doing right now.

JMS
I dunno. But I'm disappointed that it even has to run. After these last few years of hearing that the religion of candidates doesn't matter, and that they shouldn't have to prove or disprove what religion they are, it all gets chucked out the window now. Excuse me but did you catch the part about your senatorial candidate worshiping the physical embodyment of evil... I'm sorry it's one thing for Nixon to stand up and say "I'm ot a Crook".... cause people have to know a few things about their elected officials. If being a SATANIST isn't one of the things people are entitled to know then I don't know what is. Obama was a Muslim longer than O'Donnell was a witch. That's a fact. If we want to play these games, let's play 'em all. First off are you drawing a parallel between Islam and Satanists? Second off Obama was never a Muslim.
