The Official Washington Wizards Thread: The BEAL & BRODIE ERA

Seeing Wall score 40 points today but in a loss just makes me realize he is gonna bolt for Los Angeles or Boston first chance he gets, I really hope he has some loyalty to this team and stays once his contract is up, because we really need to build our franchise around him, he is a complete game changer and he is looking even better each day. Also, I don't know why this team is so consistently bad, Nick Young is a good scorer, McGee plays well enough and he is a great defender, Singleton and Vesely look pretty nice, but why are we so bad? The talent on this team should be enough to lift us to .500 at most instead of like 10 wins max. We definitely need more stars on this team, and it looks like we are heading that way through the draft. Why can't we have one Washington team that's consistently good or at least has a winning record?

They play in Verizon Center. They make you happy until the playoffs.

Nobody outside of Wall on this team is within the bounds of not being traded. Nobody. They all either suck athletically or are too stupid to be consistent NBA players.

Am I the only person who didn't find anything wrong w. what McGee did? I don't get the double-standard from Flip. He'll yank McGee for doing that, but yet tolerates Blatche's lazy play and ill-advised 19 footers. Makes no sense. Besides the game wasn't a blowout or anything along those lines. Nothing wrong w. what he did. McGee is one of our most exciting players and he's been arguably the best player on the team early on in the season. Dude has made tremendous strides on both sides of the court. We're finally getting a glimpse of what he can do when focused. Shoot, the kid...yes, KID, is only 23. He get way too much hate from folks in this fanbase...and I will guarantee that if he's traded, you'll see him QUICKLY become a premier player at his position. He's already top-10, IMO...but it would be another case of the DC franchise giving up on a young player too soon only to see him really hit his stride somewhere else.

*And as far as the triple-double vs. Chicago last year...just remember WHO was drawing up the plays and kept him in the game. Yup, Flip. EVERYONE wanted him to get that distinction.

Being a top 10 C in today's league is nothing to brag about. Fact is, Outside of Dwight & Bynum (when he's not getting injured), the rest of the NBA centers are either specialists or young players with "potential".

I don't think what McGee did was that bad, but it would've shown a step in the right direction of his thought process if he just dunked like a regular player. I completely agree with you about Flip and his quick hooks. For some reason, certain players are allowed to do dumb **** on the court without repercussion, while the McGee gets pulled at the drop of a hat. He's pulled Booker & Singleton from games this year for mistakes, but at least they play hard. Blatche's lazy ass can take the same lazy 19 ft jumpshot all day, no matter the situation, not hustle on defense, and they keep him in the game.

May not be worth bragging about but replacing one isn't exactly a walk in the park. A team this bad can't afford to dumps center that isn't bad hoping for a lottery replacement. This attitude of dump this guy or that guy is something a lakers fan could say. Fact is this team is loaded with players that can't produce in the league and all the hustle and effort doesn't mean **** without production.

This team has to upgrade and replace, dump is hardly an option.

Fair enough (about him being top-10)....but i'll narrow it down even more. If he keeps up his solid play, he could end op being an unquestioned top-3 center in the east at the end of the year.

Oh, I agree. He's been by far our best player and his offense and defense is massively improved.

That said, none of those teams besides Atlanta have anything resembling a strong front court. Until he gets stronger he's going to struggle against Orlando, Milwaukee, Minnesota, etc.

What on Earth is your definition of a strong front court? Those are most of the good front courts in the East.

Top 3 center in the East?

Howard

Bogut

Lopez

Monroe

Bargnani

Everyone there is demonstrably better than McGee at this stage, IMO and I'd take all of them but Bargnani over McGee in a heart beat. McGee, IMO, is in the next group with Hibbert and Horford. Until he fixes his efficiency issues I don't see that changing.

I like the kid and think he could get in that elite group, but he does very few things conducive to winning consistently.

I say the Redskins win a playoff game before the Wizards.

If they can get a legitimate quarterback, yeah sure.

Barring a trade up for RGIII, a significant upgrade at QB is probably out of the question. Until then, the Redskins will continue to suck

football takes a lot longer to rebuild than ball. besides john wall the wizards have nothing.

I disagree. Worst to first happens every year in football and never happens in basketball. Basketball players take forever to develop. You'll be four or five years into a guy's career before he starts to bloom whereas that's a player in his prime at most positions in the NFL.

I think you're seriously overrating Lopez and Monroe. Let's see Monroe play like this over an extended period of time before he gets anointed. As it is, Horford has a much more impressive track record and all around skill set than him as well as most of the bigs in the NBA. Lopez is even more one dimensional than Bargnani. I would take McGee over Lopez for sure.

McGee is better than Hibbert.

In terms of all around play, I'd go Dwight, Horford, Bogut, Chandler, Noah, Monroe, McGee, Hibbert, Bargnani, Lopez.

Defensively, McGee is probably second only to Dwight now and the gap is widening. He's fourth in the NBA in rebounding, leads in blocks, shoots for a very high percentage, and has a good PER. You can't say that about many bigs around the league.

Didn't get to watch the game but did Wall play point the whole game?

Was there ever a stretch where Crawford brought the ball up?

or

Was there a stretch where Wall was playing on a wing as opposed to the middle?

Maybe comcast will reply the game tonight.

He played point for most part.

There were a few stretches in the 4th when Crawford tried to run the offense, it didn't go that well :twitch:

Chandler and Noah in your top 5? Eh, we must looking for different things in a center. At this point I'd take McGee over both of them.

Agreed about Monroe, need more time to evaluate, but I believe he's going to be a multiple time all star in short order. Perhaps I am overrating him currently.

We'll agree to disagree regarding Lopez. I know he doesn't rebound well at all, but I still have him as one of the best centers in the East when he's healthy

Anyone else catch Thomas Robinson tonight against Baylor? That man was unstoppable. I gotta watch some more of him, definitely one to keep an eye on come draft night.
Indeed. He has a really complete game. It's tough to say that about most of the other lottery picks right now. He's going to be really good.

Im disappointed i didnt get to see this game. Wall going for 40? Was it all layups? Or did he pull out some jumpers too?

I still believe we should trade blatche and young for cousins........ at the end of the season, when we have a new coach and gm who wont ruin everything.

He used his speed to get to the rim with ease, but he this time he finished. Although later in the 3rd and 4th he hit a couple of good jumpers, you could tell he had more confidence after he converted more at the rim.
