Some questions about Fedex Field: Getting there, parking and so on

So i am bringing my brother to the colts game at Fedex and i have a few questions. We got the dream seats but the tickets didnt come with parking. What is the best approach to getting to and from the stadium? We are staying at the marriott courtyard in landover. Is it easy to take a cab to and from the stadium? Do cabs line up outside the stadium afterwards? What about parking? what is the easiest parking option to get us closest to the stadium if we chose to drive? How much would it cost? my brother cant walk very far and we wont be tailgating so if we were to drive, i want to make it as easy as possible.

Thanks!

Click on my sig, scroll down and peruse the various links.

I don't know how easy or hard it is to take a cab. But the cab won't get in past the lot gate which is roughly four tenths of a mile from the stadium.

Easiest parking option is orange parking which will take you to the ring road. So will purple parking. So will platinum parking. You have to buy those passes on the aftermarket. Cost varies. $50 minimum.

You don't WANT to be closest to the stadium, you want to be closest to the exits. In my opinion anything beyond Green or Orange is a pain in the ass, you are just adding hours to your departure time.

Oh you are so wrong. If you sit on the lower level and go immediately to your car, you will coast out of the parking lot before anyone else is even in their car. The last two games, I left and did not stop once until I hit Central Blvd. If you are parking in purple or orange, you will be on Morgan Blvd or Redskins Road long before the others get to their vehicles. I highly recommend a lot off Morgan Blvd. Much less traffic than Redskins Road.

Yes, i do want to be close to the stadium. I want as little walking for my brother as possible. I dont mind sitting in traffic afterwards if i have to.

So does anyone know the prices for the different types of parking?

The south side lots off of Morgan Blvd. provide the easiest in-n-out as S&S mentioned. Most Beltway users take the other two arteries into Raljon. The Morgan Blvd. lots don't pack in as tightly as the north and east sides. Also less proned to conflict between tailgaters and vehicles attempting to park.

I've considered trying what little Green there is on the south side but have been concerned about the lack of tailgate space. Can you set up a couple of canopies next to an end spot? Also, how's the lineup over there before the lots open?

Definitely more room for canopies. We arrived at 12:30 for the Houston game and took up 3 spots till 3:00, canopy and all, no one complained. There were no occupied vehicles trapped anywhere near us. Later arriving parties can actually get spots without having to ask people to move tailgates.

Off of Morgan you'll turn left into green A4. The entry to A4 is a pipe stem which appears to be cramped any time after 9:30. However, once you entered; go to the top of the hill and turn right. The rest of green lot A4 and B3 are quite spacious for tailgating and ball tossing. You can also get to B3 off of Arena, but I don't advise that route given the volume, and I don't think they open that access road until about two hrs before kickoff.

The morning lineup on Morgan is probably easier than the other two routes because Morgan is six lanes wide, all one way into FedEx.

My thought was to set up as close to Morgan Blvd. as possible, trying to get an end spot and tailgate off of that. I always try to park as close to the exits as possible.

I seriously doubt you're going to get autographs from the field. You mean outside the stadium? I would say they probably start rolling in around two hours prior. They start warming up about 90 mins prior.

We were going to go in the stadium.

Well, I've never seen players sign for fans in the stands during warm ups. I guess it's possible, but I wouldn't count on it. Unless you have clubs or LL seats, they've not going to let you down into the 100 level anyway. And then there's the dream seat rows. You won't be able to go in there. So how are you going to get close to the field? You'll be 2-3 rows back at best.

So a few more questions. How long should i expect it to take me to drive from the Courtyard Landover to the stadium tomorrow? We are going to try to get there 2 hrs prior to the game to check out the club level and pregame warmup. It took me like 10 mins today to make the drive. However, i suspect tomorrow will be much different.

Thanks again for all the advice! cant wait!!
