Noticed that some fans are not excited to have Mcnabb as a starting QB

New Guy here and just amazed that some fans can actually be criticizing Mcnabb after all the QB's this franchise has see over the past 15 years. I think we all can agree that Mcnabb even at 33 is the best QB this team has had in over 20 years. I noticed some fans says he is McChoke but if he did wasn't that in the playoffs? How many times have the skins been to the playoffs since 2000? So can everyone give the man a chance and see how things play out before we say he is washed up?

I don't think he's washed up at all...but I am still having a hard time seeing him as the Redskins' QB lol...it still feels VERY weird to me, too weird for me to get very excited about just yet. Plus, during the few drives he had in the preseason it kept looking to me as if he wasn't comfortable yet being the QB for a rival team...like even he was still saying to himself "Ok, this is weird" lol :ols:...

I agree. A few Skins fans I know are somewhat upset as well. I have no idea how tho. Given #5's success in this league, we should all be ecstatic. Future HOFer, stats, success & age actually better than Elways prior to Shanahan's arrival in Denver, and a classy guy. I'm looking forward to Sunday night. We will have a much improved overall team and it will show early and often this season.

That probably was true because how often do you see a future HOF QB get traded to a divison rival? Even when Joe Montana was traded it wasn't to the Rams it was a AFC team. So it did probably feel strange playing for a team he battled against for so many years.

I'm not unhappy. A massive upgrade from last year. If he stays healthy he certainly isn't washed up. However, I don't think the Skins stop looking for their franchise QB because we have McNabb now. Now is the perfect time to find the next franchise guy.

Maybe I haven't seen the threads but who is saying that Redskin fans are not excited about McNabb??

From what I've seen its WR talk and haynesworth on the board

Fans are actually lobbying for WR help so Mcnabb has more targets.

I smell troll

Andy Reid loved McNabb over the years for a reason, he made the pro bowl last year, so if he's declining its probably not that much. Still he has to learn a new offense, might take him half a season to find that flow.

Maybe some of us will bemoan not having Jason Campbell or Todd Collins over the course of the season and this is a downgrade or just a minor upgrade -- seems doubtful but will see

I have to agree with this. I like McNabb for a few years but I still want that young, 10 year Pro Bowl caliber franchise QB we've been lacking for years. The best time to look for a young QB like that is when you have a good one in place already that's getting older. See Favre and Rodgers.

You want a QB who is unproven?
I like Kolb's game (accuracy) better than I like what McNabb has proven because you need too much talent on offense , defense and special teams to win championships with big play type QBs.

McNabb's ability to extend plays as he once did is hampered by accumlating injuries especially as the season wears on.

In 2009, I had Jason Campbell graded at a C- and McNabb at a C+. I don't think we got enough improvement to make it worth two high picks.

I hope I'm wrong but...

You have Campbell and Mcnabb on the same level even though Mcnabb led his team to the playoffs the past two seasons?

He'll obviously have growing pains, just like the rest of the team, learning a new system, but I have no reason to believe McNabb won't be a good QB for us this year. If he does the team HAS to sign him to an extension. If he's one and done, this will be a fail for this team. He could easily have 5 more good years in him baring serious injury.
