88Comrade2000
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0810/41506.html Figures the same old Republicans. If's that going to be their focus if they win, then in 2012 they will be shown out the door in what will be Obama's landslide victory. While I don't expect them to pass anything significant, I do expect them should they get in power to present a contrast and real solutions as an alternative to Obama in 2012. Given the problems this country faces, the last thing we need is another repeat of the late 90's.

mjah
If there's anything GOP politicians seem to enjoy better than a scandalous private probing, it's a scandalous public probing. Of course, firing up the Probe-O-Matic and letting it run at full throttle will actually improve the target's reelection prospects. But hey, whatever, right? Surely it's worth that to secure the base...?
Oldskool
Hey if they "drained the swamp" and are the "most transparent Congress ever", you shouldn't have anything to hide. Right? And this goes for both sides. Shine the light of truth on both parties and let's watch the roaches run for sanctuary. Corruption and rampant abuse of the system is widespread. Quashing it shouldn't be a matter of D versus R, it should be a moral imperative.
Teller
Aside from ACORN, which I think has been blown out of proportion, I see absolutely nothing wrong with investigating any of those issues.

Predicto
Nancy Pelosi has squashed almost all efforts by angry Dem congressmembers to do endless probes of the Bush White House. I was hoping this would break the cycle. Oh well.

I was hoping this would break the cycle.Oh well. Well it's partly because they control congress and the presidency and need to make it look as if they're actually doing something. If the Republicans come into power they need something to do other than just say no to Obama. A little aimless probing could sure while away the time. boobiemiles
The GOP should probe themselves. What a joke. People died on the GOP's watch the last time they were in power. All this crying, and whining. Grow up. Obama is not perfect, but I don't feel the congress, administration, or president did anything dishonest. Except for trying to stop another great recession, and provide all americans with universal health care, what is the big deal? I mean did they say something about WMD, or Katrina that I missed? The GOP get's a hold on the rings again, people are going to need to brace themselves because we are going down like Michael Spinx vs. Tyson. Book it! From Blago's gaffe, Geithner's tax problems, Holder's Black Panthers, to M.Walters and C.Rangel ethics issue. Congress's ethics issues are a reason for congress to probe the white house? Great argument. Like I said I would fully expect the Clinton treatment all over again. This is GOP SOP. They've already rolled out the southern strategy 2.0 and now it's time to bog down the government in legal battles because they can't debate any issue other than taxes and offer an alternative that even makes sense. Veretax
They need to clean Congress's house before they worry about Obama, frankly. because until they do that, its all just a waste of tax payer dollars.

Burgold
Well it's partly because they control congress and the presidency and need to make it look as if they're actually doing something. Hardly, when the Dems got the majority of Congress, the Scooter, Cheney's number two had just been convicted and sent to jail. There were serious allegations of all sorts of corruption and various serious ones ranging from illegal wiretapping to fudged data and mysterious fires or illegal firings. The Democrats decided to take the high road and not put the country through another series of White Water style witch hunts. The last thing this country needs to fix its problems is a witch hunt. That's only good for distracting people and avoiding doing your job.
Thiebear
How about we just fire up the Ethics committees as a seperate entity. Problems fixed. stevenaa
Neither side is interested in working to solve problems. It's all about defeating the other side through whatever means possible.
