HighOnHendrix
vettel and webber looked strong. They should, they have the best car in the paddock. I can't find a link, but I'm sure I read somewhere that Stefano Domenicali recently said something to the effect that Ferrari would have won the title already if they had the car that RBR has. Something to be said about that, since they have qualified 1-2 for almost every race but Alonso is leading and Hamilton still has a slim chance going into the final race. HighOnHendrix
yeah, i read that as well.cant wait for abu dhabi this weekend  has been a great season so far actually. I have only been watching hardcore since 07. This year is as good or better than 07 and 08. Last year was kind of a snoozer. I was convinced after Bahrain that this season would be terrible, the epitome of single-file racing because of the refueling ban. I was way wrong, though I do miss refueling badly; it's an extra layer of strategy.

HighOnHendrix
Congratulations to Sebastian Vettel on becoming the youngest Formula 1 Drivers' Champion in history! It was also very cool that the podium for the finale featured the last three Champions in Vettel, Hamilton, and Button.

HighOnHendrix
http://en.espnf1.com/f1/motorsport/story/34884.html Lotus set to supply IndyCar engines Group Lotus will join Honda and Chevrolet as an engine supplier in the IndyCar series in 2012, as the company looks to expand its motorsport ambitions. Group Lotus is also set to supply aerodynamic bodywork to the KV Racing Technology team when the standard Dallara chassis are introduced in 2012. The engine and bodywork deals are just one facet of a plan that will see the company up its involvement throughout the world of motorsport over the coming years. "We take racing seriously and we don't just want to put a sticker on a car that we didn't have the influence to help build," Group Lotus CEO Dany Bahar said. "We want to compete with the big guys." Group Lotus only just made the cut-off to sign up to the new engine regulations for 2012, which will see six cylinder, ethanol-fueled engines replace the current V8s. Bahar admitted it had been a close call. "We never felt it was going to be an engine up until a couple weeks ago," he said. "They didn't feel they were going to be able to get it." Bahar said the decision "fits perfectly our activities and strategy" and that it is entering IndyCar to take on the establishment. "We're going to be the underdog, we're going to fight Chevy and Honda," he added. Group Lotus is still in court with current F1 team Lotus Racing over the use of the Lotus name in F1. It is also rumoured to be in talks with the Renault F1 team about sponsoring the outfit in 2011.

Kovalainen's British girlfriend Catherine Hyde was seated alongside the Lotus driver, who had already taken the chequered flag to win the race, but she emerged unscathed. "Catherine is sore and her back is painful, got to look after her now," 29-year-old Kovalainen, who went to a local hospital for checks, added. He also said on Twitter that, after arriving home to Switzerland, he will have further medical checks on Monday. "Head's a bit sore, (I) was unconscious for 30 seconds," revealed Kovalainen, a former Race of Champions winner. Video at link Hope him and his girlfriend both make a speedy recovery. DCsportsfan53
Anybody following the start to the 2013 F1 season so far? Australian GP was good, nice to see Red Bull not completely dominating from the start and I loved Raikkonen getting the win, he ran an outstanding race. It will be interesting to see in Malaysia if Lotus still has a dramatic tire wear advantage or if the others have caught up some. Looking forward to this weekend's race. endzone_dave
I watched last week's race. It was cool seeing Kimi win and not see Red Bull dominate. Plus McLaren is scrambling to figure out their cars. Great to watch. I follow NASCAR, F1, and World Rally Championship. It's hard to find time to watch it all. F1 is great! I don't follow NASCAR but I follow the other two (very proud of VW's start in WRC, as an aside) plus watch as much as I can of the 24 hours of LeAudi, I mean LeMans every year. I'm a Kimi fan myself so last week was great to see for me. It looks like it's setting up to be another close, competitive season in F1 like last year. I went to the race at COTA last November (followed 4 days later by glorious triumph live at JerruhWorld, so awesome) and had a blast. Amazing to see and hear them up close. endzone_dave
Happy for VW but I'm a JML fan and I wish it wasn't just Ogier having the success. The only bad part about last week's F1 race was the top five were all spread out. Just a fact of life in F1. Maybe that's that NASCAR fan in me talking. Can't imagine being there in person for a race. Those cars must be loud.

nyskinsfan56
Today's race proved to me again that there should be no such thing as "teams" in racing. Doesn't matter what series it is. This and I had to watch it on Spanish TV because none of the other 900 sports channels carried it today
endzone_dave
It was a good race until the end. Watching Rosberg ride behind Hamilton was gross. I love to be in the next Red Bull team meeting and hear what Webber has to say.
DCsportsfan53
I still thought it was a good race today but man what a little ***** Vettel is. Webber's right to be pissed. Lotus seems to be the worst car in the wet of the top runners and it looked to me like they killed Kimi's dry pace setting the car up for wet and still failed to setup a good wet car. The clearest example is in how he could not catch anyone on the straights even with DRS but the others had their way with the Lotuses using DRS. 6th and 7th was a good result considering all that happened this weekend for them, hoping for a totally dry weekend in China so we can see just how far their qualy pace has come. It does seem they still have a rather significant tire advantage over the others, too, so if they can get their setup dialed in better without the distraction of rain it will be interesting to see what happens. That Mercedes is a whole lot better this year, too. Should be an interesting back and forth between the top 4 of Ferrari, Lotus, Red Bull and Mercedes and something tells me McLaren will have something to say about it all before it's over, too.
