pjfootballer
Well, I'm thinking more about local programs--most specifically Maryland or even UVA. I wouldn't expect Duke to make the trip, but what would be the harm in a home-and-home series between Maryland and Mason? GMU would sign up for it in a heartbeat. I think the only reason it doesn't happen is Gary Williams knows he probably wouldn't win at the Patriot Center. As a MD fan, I'm sure he probably knows that since he hasn't been able to build a good team since 2002. I've never understood MD football or basketball. Tons, and tons of great recruits in the DC/Baltimore area and they all get away from Gary and Fridge.
ACW
Yeah. I mean, when you consider that ALL FIVE of our Final 4 team's starters are/from Maryland... EDIT: Oh, and it's funny you mention UVA. We're starting a home-and-home in '11-'12.
Larry Brown #43
As a MD fan, I'm sure he probably knows that since he hasn't been able to build a good team since 2002. I've never understood MD football or basketball. Tons, and tons of great recruits in the DC/Baltimore area and they all get away from Gary and Fridge. I have a love/hate relationship with UMD sports. As a Mason grad, I despise Gary Williams and love watching Maryland lose in hoops, and I'm itching for the Terps to one day come to the Patriot Center to play. For a guy who broke in at American U, he has nothing but disdain for mid-major hoops. And the ironic thing is his teams usually have enough trouble beating quality mid-major teams. But I have nothing against Maryland in football, and I actually would like to see them do well (as unlikely as that may be). So I guess my animosity toward the Terps in hoops is almost entirely directed at Gary. If/when he ever leaves, I might slowly come around to mildly rooting for them. Larry Brown #43
Yeah. I mean, when you consider that ALL FIVE of our Final 4 team's starters are/from Maryland... I know...this is a well-known fact among Mason grads/fans, but is not spoken of in this area for some reason. The local media totally watched Gary's back by not driving this point home. What a huge local sports story they just completely ignored. Imagine if all five starters on a Maryland Final Four team were from VA. You don't think UVA would catch hell for that? Or if a Maryland Final Four team had five starters from DC...Georgetown would be exposed. But the fact that all five Mason Final Four starters came from the state of Maryland got virtually no run in the press. Gary's lucky. He should have been grilled over that. EDIT: Oh, and it's funny you mention UVA. We're starting a home-and-home in '11-'12. Cool! I had not heard that. That's great news.
Spartacus87
So is ACW going to address Boise trying to get out of the series against Idaho or what?
Hazel-Ra
So is ACW going to address Boise trying to get out of the series against Idaho or what? I'll address it...it does smack of hypocrisy... but BSU has had some great teachers when it comes to that.
Hazel-Ra
Oh and I only made it through about 30 seconds of that youtube ****...what can I say...there is a lot of homerism going on lately...hopefully I haven't came across that way. Update: I watched it all...damn this guy is fronting. I bet he's wearing those shades so we don't see his eyes bouncing off the cue card. Phil Mikkelsen is more gangsta than this guy. TBH our offense has been a little sketchy at the scrimmages and we're hoping it's just because our D is so mean.

ljs
http://www.idahostatesman.com/2010/08/24/1312712/bsu-idaho-open-scheduling-conversation.html Boise's been playing Idaho for 40 years now, but now they want to end the rivalry because it's a road game they don't want to deal with and they don't believe they get enough in return for playing against Idaho. So the only way they want to continue doing it is if Idaho has to come to them every game. Interesting perspective from Boise there. as I posted earlier, they are way too big for themselves now. My gf's brothers and dad all played football at U of I- they have been going to games in Boise for years. She has told me of some really crazy **** the BSU fans pull on Vandal fans. She speaks of BSU the way I speak of Dallas...usually a lot of the F bomb thrown around:silly: This is very true. I think I lot of Boise sympathizers have never had to deal with all the Boise "fans" in forums and message boards with their "whoa is me" attitudes. A lot of them refuse to comment on the whole Idaho thing because they know they would be complete hypocrites if they did.To me, Boise is a lot like Colt Brennan. People really don't have a problem with the school or football team (or person), but the fans are just unbearable. I never really paid much attention to it until the last few yrs due to my gf being such a big fan (even though I attended school there for a bit). Seriously, anyone outside of Idaho/WA has no idea how damn annoying BSU fans are, and have become in the last few yrs. Trust me guys, they make me wanna ***** slap them as much as pukes fans. We go to a few games every yr, and this yr have tickets to 3 home games, including the "last" BSU game at the Kibbie Dome (seating is 16k). I can't wait. 50 yd line, 10th row up from the field. wvuskinsfan
The entire 1980s was FSU playing away games against the "big boys" of the time.Nobody came to play at Florida State. Bobby Bowden had to take that show on the road, beat the big boys in their house consistantly, and finally gain respect by the late 1980s. Boise still has a long ways to go to do what FSU did in the 1980s anybody and time anywhere. FSU played at LSU like 5 years in a row or something like that. Boise is trying to pick and choose their battles and don't like leaving the NW b/c when they do their ass gets beat which i expect the Hokies to do. They have not even been D-1 for 20 years who are they to demand home and home with the big boys when they play in basically a HS stadium with a gimmick blue field

fullnelson9999
Ahem...http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=dw-boise110709 Means absolutely nothing to me. They're a bunch of whiny ****es, as shown by their comments on playing Idaho. They don't yet know how to act like a big time team, and that's their biggest problem. It's ok to feel entitled, just don't go out and whine about it. Pissing people off is no way to please the big time schools. Maybe they are ignored by bigger schools, but it doesn't change the fact that they play a weak schedule. You can make all the excuses in the world for why it happens, how it isn't their fault they play in the WAC, or even the Mountain West. The end result is that its a bad schedule. Until they either go independent or find a way to weasel into a bigger conference like the Big 12, I will have no sympathy for them. I don't want to hate Boise, but everyone supporting them makes me hate them. Just like Colt Brennan. And their fans are complete idiots. Talk about stupid. Veretax
WVU's "Edwards Stadium is too small" argument is getting old too. And I still say there isn't a fit reason why WVU football should play Marshall. It does neither team any good.

wvuskinsfan
And I still say there isn't a fit reason why WVU football should play Marshall. It does neither team any good. its a no win situation for wvu that cost them an extra home game and the money they would make or kills chances of a home and home with another BCS school. Marshall plays in a HS stadium and only sell out when wvu comes to town. They pulled the stunt making you buy season tickets this year and not letting people buy just the wvu game and claimed how their season tickets are at a all time high
