Mania
I'll never forget that unbelievable hustle play Coles had against the Seahawks in '04, I think?Brunell pick to Marcus Trufant? and Coles stayed him, strip-fumble-recovery just before the defender crossed the goaline. Viola, touchback, and the 'Skins win the game. I do remember that and unfortunately it was the play of the year. Well, I guess getting Gibbs back was actually the best play of the year. jflow78
Just think, we might not have experienced the Monday Night Miracle had he not demanded a trade in '05.That was pretty much the highlight of an otherwise boring decade. No chance Laveranues makes that play..... I kind of agree. Coles is a backup special teams guy, Moss is still a valuable starter. I think we got the better end of that deal. I'd take Moss over Coles, though I don't dislike Coles the person, he kind of pulled a cry-baby move as his last action here and I didn't want him after that. I like Moss, I think he's better, IMO, and more dedicated. And.....he's the Dallas Killer! One of the greatest Skins/Pukes games ever.

worstSeat
lol, Jets fans are probably saying the exact same about us...Uncalled for from Coles, but hardly surprising. Uncalled for? Are you kidding? This is the guy Snyder sent ice cream so that he'd have something to eat while watching the game from home, right? Or was Coles the plasma TV guy? After years of running around on a bum toe looking for Ramsey passes, Coles is still one of my favorite WRs that's done time in DC. He, as others have mentioned, has shown as much or more hustle than anyone short of Cartwright and, at least during the game, Portis in recent years. HighOnHendrix
And if not then he will be like Dana Stubblefield, a gypsy that goes from team to team, playing like a shell of his former self. AH = Stubby. A very apt comparison now that I think about it. Coles built a mansion in Jacksonville of all places? Why? The whole city smells like ass. Smells like that in NJ where he plays, too. Guess he's used to it by now. My :2cents: on Coles: his effort on the field was always exemplary, but his attitude was for **** as far as he took the chip on his shoulder thing WAY too far. Redskins4ever
I really didn't like Laveranues Coles that much. He's a good WR, but he wasn't a decent Redskin. What kind of man wouldn't want to play for a Hall of Fame head coach? But I'm glad we trade him back to the Jets, because we got Santana Moss for him. scruffylookin
I really liked Coles when he first got here. I thought he was Gary Clark reincarnated. Small tough as nails receiver with a chip on the shoulder. Unfortunately he is his own worst enemy and has a very sour disposition that really makes it hard to like the guy. I'm sorry things didn't work out but at least we did get Santana Moss for him. One of the few moves we've made that we got the absolute no question better end of the deal on. It is nice to look back and feel positive about a landmark move for the Gibbs II era. No hard feelings about Coles though..
Redshu
Wow. Let's run down the list of bum free agents who laugh now at us for what we paid them; Alvin Harper James Washington Deion Sanders Dan Wilkinson Dana Stubblefield Bruce Smith Adam Archuletta Laverneus Coles Brandon Lloyd Antwan Randel El Mike Barrow Jesse Armistead Albert Haynesworth Not necessarily in sequential order, but this is a stab at what I think is the fact that this team has no real tradition anymore except for the cool moniker of; "The team that will pay you your last big payday, that you'll never really have to play for or respect." As organizations go, up to this point, we're a bunch of clowns. And it all started in 92.

Beat me to the punch Red!!:box: Until Snyder changes his ways, which I think he is starting to, this will be his legacy as an owner of this team. :( The only way he gets rid of it is by change his ways and starts winning for a prolonged period of time and gets to (and hopefully wins!) an SB. Then his mistakes will be just that and the successes are what people will focus on.

pjfootballer
And this is the type of legacy we are trying to get rid of. I have no ill feelings about what LC said, because you know why? It's 100% completely true. But no more. Sheriff Shanahan is in town and is cleaning up the riff-raff. You don't come here to get paid anymore. You come to practice and play. The inmates are no longer running the assylum.

Then his mistakes will be just that and the successes are what people will focus on. As much as I would like to see us get to and win the SB, I'm not sure that is needed to change his legacy. I think having a team that is even just a playoff contender every year will do it. The more important part needed to change his legacy is to stop paying mounds of cash and getting nothing in return. Run the team more like an army and less like a vacation resort. But remember Dan, you are not the General. Like the President, you appoint the General and then stay out of his way. Redskins Life
I know it is easy for fans to ignore the big picture and very easy to play Monday-morning QB, but it is sad that some fans don't take the time to think about what lies behind the "madness." Has Daniel Snyder made mistakes as the owner of the Washington Redskins? Yes, and quit a few. However, why has he made those mistakes? He's made them because he wants to win. Sure, he's over-paid many a player, but he paid them for US, the fans, because he wants to win. Part of the problem was he was paying the wrong players, but let's not lose sight of what he was trying to do. I know there are cynical fans on this board that will say he only brought in those players to sell jerseys. Let's get real. Having a consistent winner and legitimate Super Bowl contender will sell more merchandise, tickets, etc. than any one superstar player's name. I know everyone of us would have done things differently if we were Snyder, but that's the point. We are not Snyder. None of us has done what it takes to be in the market to buy a professional football team; he has. With that being said, Coles's comments are completely classless. Let's not forget what happened or try to rewrite history now. He was given a king's ransom to play for this team. He, Coles, was the one who refused to get the medical help that was suggested to him for his toe (surgery) by not only the team, but other doctors as well and was the one who pulled an Albert Haynesworth with Joe Gibbs at the helm. The guy never lived up to his contract on or off the field (and let's not forget that he came into the league already on thin ice due to his arrest and expulsion from FSU). There used to be a time when Redskins fans would not be so blase about a jerk like Coles ripping into their team or anyone associated with it. I'm just sad to see that those times seem to be long gone.
Audible_Red40
Coles is a bum, he is beyond washed up at this point. The Jets seem to be collecting washed up players, him LT, Jason Taylor, their plan is going to back fire. I agree, but these washed up players are not being asked to carry the load or team. Spot duty and depth.
